“On the contrary, I have written proof about my true role as ordered by Dis, and I have checked the papers thoroughly to determine if they had been tampered with. They were not forged.”

“I am not worried about repercussions from those who joined us in the mission. They were there when we were approached with the job offer, and they themselves accepted it a few days later. If they become framed for the participation in this scheme, it would be in addition to me, giving them no reason or gain in directing hostilities my way.”

“Still, you come here with warnings of doom and desire to see me through it, so what is it exactly you propose?”

Asuming the time is now and action is at hand, i will post accordingly (aka midday with empty streets).

Siddharta walks to a secluded street adjacent to the wall surrounding the sigil ward where our target lives.. he casts invisibly on himself, and changes shape into a Aaracockra's and swoops over the wal, he will gain a little altitude to be able to fly silently over the houses...and follow Bruce safely...mentally he will contact Bruce and say; "Bruce, i will land on the roof and create a hole in it, then make my way downwards, agreed?, or do you want me at your side?"

Depending on what Bruce replies i will follow up....

ooc: Sorry for the slow reply, but for some reason i did not get any update-message... so i was still assuming a wait for a reply from BERK...

I said meet me near the house because I meant it. Don't make any holes.

OOC: Assuming that we run into no problems, could you describe the house to me? About how big is it? Does it have a backdoor? According to my plans, does it have a basement/how many floors does it have?

"Do you assume to be in charge?, i dont think anybody put you in charge specifically, so i would appreciate it if you lower your tone of speech to a more appropriate tone.. "Mortal",...I do not mind to discuss how and what we do, as we both want things to run smoothly, i presume, "

"The reason i wanted to create a new entry point, is because i am 100% sure he will have the normal ways of entry secure with magical traps, ...any mage worth his weight in arcane power will secure his own living quarters..."

(Siddharta addresses Bruce as a Mortal, as i am not sure he actually knows, nor cares Bruce is an Elan?, and therefore immune to aging/ effectively immortal)

Bruce & Sidharta:

Lor's Oakry's house is 3 stories tall plus annother level under the steep roof. The house is large by the standards of the Clerk's Ward (all the houses on Lantern Way are) You can see no indication of a basement. Sidharta needs to make a balance check to stay on the roof unless he wants to grab onto a roof-blade (which will call for a will save instead). If either of you choose to detect magic, no magical auras eminate from the house.

OOC: You do not know that Bruce is an Elan (or what an Elan is). Regardless, an Elan is still a mortal by a fiend's definition of the term (a mortal is anything with a soul and body that are seperate entities regardless of mortality)

Canzon:

"Since they have been hired by a Baatezu, they have reason to bleive that you are lying about being framed and are just an agent of Ephaez. This is a reasonable assumption considering the puzzle peices that they currently lack."

"I share your means, and I share your ends. This is enough. I will not be induced to speak further at this time," Yebena says this finally, but not particullarly threataningly.

That he might have things trapped hadn't escaped me, which is exactly why I don't want to make a hole if we can avoid it. For all I know, he could be alerted by either such a use of magic or by damage being done to this building. While there might be traps on the doors, I'm hoping that traps on the windows will be less, especially on the upper floors, and specifically from within. If I can port myself inside, I should be able to open one of the windows from inside without triggering anything. As long as it is opened from the inside, we should be fine.

Bruce will try to locate a window from the outside that looks like it can be opened from inside.

No windows can be opened from the inside, they are all barred, and too thin for a person to fit through.

“I think you are underestimating the capacity of our partners in this regard, but if the scheme comes to pass as proposed we will find out, will we not?”

Canzonzabar:

"Hypocrisy and inconsitency?" Yebena quietly laughs before speaking again: "I am a Yugoloth. Hypocrisy and inconsistency do not bother me in the least."

"In any case, I would start by handing over the object that I carry. After that, the success or failure of this plot is determined by someone else's actions. We can do little to change the outcome of this for the better, though we could simply withold the weapon or replace it with a proxy if we wished. Then, we will be pressed into service by Ephaez. I am prepared to cooperate with you in this regard. This is where the two of us will gain the most. Cooperation would be best. For you it means promotions, and favor with a pit fiend--for what that's worth regarding one so junior as Ephaez. There will be no shortage of vacancies, I am sure. After the assasination is finished to whatever end, the next thing to do will not be determined by you or I. This is why I offer my help and ask the same of you."

“Very well, we shall join forces to achieve optimal outcome of this scenario.”

“I think it unwise to try and replace the weapon with a fake – if it truly is ordered by two Lords of the Nine, whomsoever they have decided should receive the package likely has powerful resources to confirm its validity. As to the idea of simply withholding their property… suffice to say I strongly advice against it.”

“However… Perhaps we should take some effort to keep trace on its whereabouts and use? Some sort of well-hidden magic tracking device or spell might conceivably be placed on the weapon or its container, so we have some early warning on when and where the assassination will take place?”

“In any case, I would like to take a closer look at the package before it is handed over. The contract as well, once you have it procured – I am sure you understand my need for caution and confirmation in this regard.”

Canzonzabar:

"I have no intention of witholding the weapon or replacing it with a fake. I authorized it's creation, and I have not changed my mind since. I can provide you with the contract, but I refuse to break the wards that contain the weapon's magical energies while I am in Sigil. I value my existance, and do not feel the need to tempt the Lady's wrath. It would not be exactly healthy for you either, I think--the weapon is made to kill devils, after all."

"It is within my abilites as a wizard to mark the package for easier divination, but I lack the time to do so. I also do not feel the need to risk insulting the inteligence of one--or possibly two--of the Nine by taking such measures. It would be more prudent to scry on the current bearer of the package if they are not protected from divination. Living things are also easier to scry on, usually."

“I would expect the receiver to take ample measures in deterring scrying magic and the like, but it’s worth a shot. Trift is also quite efficient at stalking his targets, but the package will likely be transported by portals and/or teleportation… Perhaps coupled with some teleportation-tracing magic, if you have any spells to such effect?”

“Hmm, what exactly do you know about the place and subjects where the weapon is to be delivered? What did Ephaez tell you?”

"I can trace teleports, but this is unnescesary if I can scry. I know only to whom I have been told to deliver thr weapon. Where it goes after that depends on who's doing the stabbing, which I do not know."

“Nevertheless, I would recommend keeping such a spell at hand if you are able – I know first-hand how easy it is to circumvent scrying.”

“You were not given a time and place for where and when to hand over the package?”

"Any spell powerful enough to protect it's caster entirely from scrying will also protect against most other divination spells. Anything less powerful I can overcome. Easily."

"Suranxos is sitting on the far side of the hall. I am in no particular rush to hand the package over, and I have received no specific time. It will get where it must go as quietly and unobtrusively as possible."

“I am sure you are aware that spells are not needed to prevent scrying, but if you feel so confident regardless I look forward to hearing of your discoveries.”

“In any case, you are right not to hasten delivery of the package – all the more time for information gathering. Though he may simply be a middleman, perhaps I should see what I can learn from Suranxos…”

“Any other thoughts you wish to share beforehand?”

At this point Canzonzabar has grown quite unassuming of Yebena’s words, with full attentiveness to her words as well as her unspoken motives.

Canzonzabar:

"I am aware, of course, but as a diviner I am past the point where lead and the like interferes with my magic, and scrying is not the only way to get information should other factors interfere."

"I have nothing further to say in this vein."

Diverting your atention from the conersation briefly, you can see that many of the tables have filled up, and the flow of guests has thinned somewhat. You also see that two mortals--a young couple has approached your table. Both wear fashionable and expensive looking clothing. (You do not recognize them) Yebena's bodyguard turns, and wordlessly holds up his clawed hand, and looks to Yebena for instructions.

"We beg your pardon, if we have intruded. May we sit here?" asks the man, appearing somewhat afraid, but hiding it well for a mortal.

Yebena turns towards the two, and says nothing. She simply stares. After a pause of several seconds, she speaks: "You may sit, mortals. You do not intrude. Stand down please, Marul." The nycaloth relaxes, and returns to his original sitting position.

The two mortals seat themselves next to Marul. Niether he nor Yebena seem to take any further notice of them. If it was Yebena's intention to disconcert the two, she has suceeded admirably. If not, it reflects very poorly on her maners.

Bruce will search for a back door. If he finds one, he will perform the following actions there. Failing that, he will choose a section of wall.

"Wait here."

Though he suspects the newly arrived did not choose their table at random, Canzonzabar currently has his mind about the recent news from Yebena. He nods politely but curtly to the couple, expressing no intent of impoliteness but no initiative to open conversation, either.

Instead, the devil orders something classy to drink while mentally directing Trift to discreetly check out whichever table Suranxos is seated at, to see if there’s a free seat and determine when there’s a socially suitable moment to join the table.

Bruce:

"Thank you for your patience," says the bell. "Lors Oakry will contact you as soon as he is able." You elicit no other response from the bell.

Canzon:

Suranxos' table has several empty seats, but they are mostly occupied by Falxugons, Erineyes, and Sage Devils from the Ministries. Some have brought mortal company or bodyguards as well. It is perfectly socially acceptable for you to sit there, but in doing so, it is likely that you will find yourself noted in the reports of several of your colleuges probably not a good thing. Doubly so if either your or Suranxos fails to hide a telepathic exchange well enough.

Directed to both you and Yebena: "Again, we beg your pardon for interruping," says the mortal woman at your table. " I am called Sayst, and my companion is Taneld. We were hoping to speak to Yebena ap Ezeya, but would be pleased to make your aquaintance as well. We have done good...business...with the Embassy to the Eighth in the past. You will forgive us both for not having more than one soul each to sell, I hope."

Yebena does not look towards the mortals for several seconds, and her face remains neutral. When she turns her head, she is smiling. It is not a friendly smile. It is an "I intend to tear out your throat with my extremely sharp teeth" smile. Judging by the long delay in Yebena's reaction, her response seemed entirely intentional to you.

"I find your self-destructive urges amusing, mortal. You waste my time at your own peril. Speak."

"We have something to say that might be of interest to you."

"Truly mortal? I very much doubt it. If there was any urgency to your proposition, you would have sought me out instead of acting on one of the extremely rare occasions that I choose to attend anyone's party."

Seeing how the couple intend to divulge what information they have come with for Yebena, Canzonzabar chimes in briefly while paying close attention to their next chosen words. His façade is silkily as ever, though with a tone of strictness rather than exclusive charm.

Bruce & Sidharta:

OOC: To make thibgs easier, please note the remaining durations of all of your buffs in your posts.

Bruce gets no response to his knocking. The door disintegrates into floating white ash. Almost immediately, there is a deafaning crack, and wave of magical energy slams into Bruce and Sidharta (54 damage, reflex save DC 26 for 1/2)

Looking into the now clear corridor, you can see that it is obstructed by a wall of glowing force. You can also hear the loud monotone screech of an alarm spell somewhere in the distance. Both Sidharta and Bruce need to make a listen check.

Canzonzabar:

"No, I did not know who you were, Canzonzabar. I have heard the name before, but I have never had the pleasure of asociating it with the face. Good evening to you," says Sayst.

Taneld takes over, and adresses Yebena again: "We had heard that you were a good person to speak with to aquire some dificlt to find knowledge."

"Tonight, I would assume. Unless one of you has the power of prophecy."

Yebena rests her head on her arms, which are crossed on the table and stares at the two mortals. There is a brief second's pause, before her tail begins to flick boredly around (again, you can tell that this is a conscious effort on Yebena's part).

"Indeed."

"How do you intend to convince me to listen to you, mortal? I have better things to do with my time than to hear an offer that I am highly likely to refuse. Make it worth my while to listen to you, and I will consider a deal, mortal."

Taneld reaches into his pocket, and produces a ring made up of twisting bands of a black metal. It is adorned with several small emeralds. This, he offers to Yebena, who takes it and regards it for a while before speaking.

"Very well, you have my atention, mortal."

"Excellent."

As a note, greater sign of sealing (and almost all other area of effect spells too) don't allow SR, so niether of you are missing anything there.

Adressing Burning Spear specifically, the spell's point of emanation was centered directly on the door (since the door/window etc. is the target of sign of sealing). This means that Sidharta would have had an inch of cover at most from the timbers that made up the doorframe. This is not bonusworthy, obviously, but hey, an inch wide section of you wasn't smashed by magical force Smiling.
