"I am here neither for political squabbling, nor to work my way up, not in such a regard anyway"...

"I wish to do this job, and maybe even subsequent jobs, and prepare myself for higher state of being.."

He stands up and bids his leave, bowing to all with a small nod of the head, and making his way out of the Twelve Factols.

He makes his way to into an alleyway to change to his Athar membership personality, and then goes to the factol building the Shattered Temple, headquarters in Sigil.
I will search the archives for any info on any of the party, but specifically about our employer, the Deamon Ephaez.

OOC:Wuups,
I came across this reading, and may have to redo some of my post, yes or no?.

(The Shattered Temple was the great temple to Aoskar in Sigil. When Aoskar was killed, his temple was destroyed by a great explosive force. If buildings can be flayed, Aoskar's temple was.

The Athar built their headquarters in the temple's desolate shell, a powerful symbol of the frailty of the so-called gods.)

After the Faction War, a massive temple to the Olympian god Hades was built in its place, a spit in the face of the departed Athar.

The Athar, also known as the Defiers or the Lost, are a faction with headquarters in the Shattered Temple in Sigil. After the Faction War they abandoned the City of Doors, relocating to the base of the Spire. Their current factol is Jaya Forlorn. Prior to the Faction War, Terrance led the faction.

Decide please what is current in our campaign and where i have to go Smiling

On the off-chance that Siddharta’s parting words was intended as a response, note that Canzon’s latest words were said during his private negotiations with Epheaz, not in the common room for the rest of the PCs to hear.

Canzonzabar:

"Eru'maho calls himself an Adujas. He is a type of living plant. He was banished to Carceri and escaped. As far as I can tell, his only agenda is revenge. We have...twisted his arm somewhat to get him to cooperate with us. He should not cause you any problems. Nevertheless, keep your eyes open, lest he decides you are an easy target to take revenge on."

"The rakhasa has ties with the Athar. He appears to be exiled, though we do not know what house he belonged to or why. He has no prior asociation with us, but is lawful enough to keep his written word and smart enough to realize what will happen if he breaks it.

"If you serve well and faithfully, promotion is a certainty. There will be many open posts in Sigil through both promotions and...removals. As you already know, you are already well-favored by the Embassy and your superiors in Dis. We will also provide you with aditional coin to buy any gear or pay any bribes that might be nescesary. I am prepared to pay you the coin up front. The embassy has authorized me to pay you 50 merts. It is nonnegotiobale, unfortunately. I've also spoken with your superiors in Dis. They will cover for you in the event of your death. We will ensure that you will not be tried for incompetence should you die."

OOC: this is a break from cannon, 2e cannon, which says that every fiend who dies off Baator reforms as nuperibos. It also says that they won't reform if they leave Baator of thier own free will (including the orders of superiors). Instead, I will rule that all Devils reform at thier own rank in Baator, but are aften tried and demoted. They can be permanently killed by certain spells and rituals. Holy weapons also have a small chance of permanently destroying them.

OOC: The shattered temple is now the temple of Hades. (Post-Faction War stuff is assumed to be cannon unless I specifically say otherwise. You do not know Epheaz to be a fiend (Only Canzonzabar and Yebena do). You are still under the asumption that he is a half fiend. With that in mind, the Athar's records (which are at the base of the Spire) aren't a very good place to look. They don't have much on people, especially someone as insignificant as a half-fiend. Gathering information in Sigil is a better option for finding out about namesyou are free to choose where and post with as much detail as you'd like.

OOC:
I suspected this might eventually come up, though I’m unsure about how to approach it.
In-character, Canzonzabar might be pleased in climbing the ranks, as any devil would. Out-of-character, I’m not so sure.

Baatezu forms are tied to roles in the infernal hierarchy, and I chose to play a harvester devil because I loved the concept of a manipulating devil that talks mortals out of their souls. Playing a different type of baatezu would seem like playing an entirely different character, both in terms of role, feel, and capability. Sure, a gelugon might make a passable diplomat, but it seems expected to focus on warfare first and foremost, and its skills make it decidedly more efficient as a direct damage-dealing warrior than a subtle spy.
Personal gear also seems a potentially huge concern now, since gear to compliment a socially skilled falxugon will do little to accommodate a warrior-like devil caste.

I’m even uncertain about which promotion-demotion scheme to use. Fiendish Codex II uses a linear one based on points, whereas a scheme based on Faces of Evil with additions of FCII uses multiple possible paths of promotion.

However, it would admittedly allow me to slip out of Canzon’s combat-unwieldy build: an untouchable devil, but one incapable of touching a foe of similar power.
Some help in addressing these concerns would be much appreciated, before I play out Canzon’s reaction.

NB. Your ruling on devil mortality is very much in line with recent canon, actually – FCII likewise states that devils who die outside Baator return there in their own form, but might face demotion as punishment for their failure (especially if it is low-ranking).

Siddharta will go to the Gymnasium?, to find any information about gehreleths and Baernaloths, to better be prepared to go to the plane that houses them.

OOC: i have no clue how to conduct this, i am not so used to having a "free" hand in this, some help would be nice, to start me of i guess.

OOC: This is intentionally flexible. You can just make the checks if you want, but it also provides an oportunity to develop your character more.

If you wanted to gather information, pubs are the best choice. Drunk people talk more.

For information about 'Leths make a knowledge the planes check. You don't need to know (and you don't have the means to if you did) anything about the bearnloths. Apomps specifically lives on Carceri with his 'Leths. This is the extent of useful information on him you would be able to get.

OOC: FCII isn't cannon though, now that I have Faces of Evil and Planes of Law. Cool Promotions are usually non-linear. Fiends can skip ranks and different fiends are promoted in diferent ways.

I rate a falxugon as equivalent to an erinyes in rank, though on an individual level, both castes have many individuals like yourself who are considerably more powerful or influential than the norm. A falxgon is generally more likely to fill noncombat roles in the infernal hierarchy. The next likely step in this direction is the sage devil (homebrewed), with the ability to cast as a sorceror. They are the teachers, scholars, censors, and researchers of Hell. They also tempt mortals, especially wizards. A sage devil can be promoted directly to a pit fiend (like erinyes or falxugons) but it can also be promoted to the rank of arbiter devil (too powerful for this campaign, as is a pit fiend). Arbiter devils are infernal judges and major bureaucrats and are specifically tasked with tracking down rouge devils.

The other option would be to promote/demote (it's a matter of perspective) yourself into an Erinyes (you could still use your gear and manage to take a level or two depending on when you are promoted) if you were more martially inclined. This opens up the possibility to advance to just about every other more powerful caste. I don't have any fiends in the FCII, if you have a suggestion that isn't in the MM, PM me.

Alright, I'll give some quick thought as to which form Canzon would strive towards and get back to you before expressing it in-game. The sage devil sound rather interesting, actually, where could I read up on it?

Ah, that's the problem. The stats are in my DM's notebook...or my math notebook, I can't actually tell the diference. Laughing out loud Baisically, it's a high charisma, high inteligence creature that casts as a sorceror and has some spell like abilities to confuse and manipulate others.

That's ok, I'll wait. If its going to be the form Canzon will vouch for, I'm going to need the stats eventually, anyway. Sticking out tongue (and you can display your masterful homebrew creations for all to see!)

Anyway, in the meantime I've come around to consider the Brachina (Pleasure Devil) as an alternative (also from the FC2). Its given as "an insidious devil that specializes in corrupting the servants of the gods".
The good thing is that mechanically it seems suitable for the same role as Canzon originally aimed for, just being slightly better at it than a falxugon. The bad thing is that it seems conceptually lacking, especially because the whole "seducing, comely fiend" thing already is well-covered.

PM'd you the character creation stats, and a brachina is a specialized erineyes (I think). You'd have to become an erineyes first and then get promoted a second time.

It is most definitely possible, but time is an issue too. I prefer promotion to be quicker (the Baatezu have it really bad in that regard), but it'd still be quite slow (weeks is better than centuries, but it still counts in a campiagn wher time is important) You have to be demoted to korachoron, then immediately promoted to erinyes and then promoted again to brachina, since promotion is up and down not sideways. By the way, what CR is the Brachina?

Hmm, the sage devil is interesting, but I don't think the party needs another character with its power primarily invested in arcane force.
We've got both an arcanaloth and a rakshasa, and Bruce seems to have spells or powers to much the same effect.

Thus, to keep Canzon in the niche of having power through charms, I think I'd rather try my luck in negotiating for promotion into brachina form. Its not as powerful as the sage devil (CR 11) and has no natural sorcery like it, but it has some nifty features that enhance everything Canzonzabar the falxugon strives to be good at.

I'll work out Canzon's in-game answer to this end later today, unless you have any objections. As for promotion, I don't think it necessarily has to take too long in perspective of campaign time frame, but its your call.

OOC: What are the special abilities? I don't have the stats. I'll consider how long promotion will take. It may make sense to speed it along a bit. CR 11 would put you at equvilant character level 15.

IC
Canzonzabar beams an ambitious smile, though one that dims in order for a humble diplomatic speech to be weaved in its place:

“Your offer is most enticing, lord Epheaz. A promotion would indeed be a satisfactory reward for such service… Though, there is but one caveat I must insist on, in that the promoted form is one that compliments my current operations. Surely, the personal experience I have accumulated in trades of the tongue should be preserved in a related future role, in order that I serve our Lord in the most efficient manner. Thus, I ask for an expedient transformation to the caste of brachinas, so that I may continue to employ my well-proven skills in dooming the just and the righteous.”

“A promotion to a drastically shifted role would only cause inefficient waste of resources, in that I adapt to a position from which my service would be rendered with less familiarity, despite my continued devotion and zeal.”

“I ask only for resounding logic to guide what is best for Baator. Efficiency foremost, as I am sure you would agree, and in the case of yours sincerely no better manifested than through promotion to the ranks of the pleasure devils. If this purely mutually beneficial arrangement is agreed to, I shall serve with dedication that none may rival.”

Canzonzabar finishes his monologue with a look of the modest mediator, waiting for his offer to be evaluated with the weight of his charms.

Ephaez grins, somewhat amused, "Very few can request which caste they want to serve in without dire consequences. You are one of those few. It is good that you agree with my assesment. Especially since I have already begun pushing the paerwork for your promotion through--if you suceed of course."

Satisfied with the resolution of his own part, Canzonzabar makes gallant bows to those assembled and departs with his tiefling aid. The fiend leaves the Twelve Factols and heads home to his residence on Fine Print to make research and preparations. In particular, he tries to uncover any information on dealing with gehreleths.

Trift will in the hours when dusk approaches go in meditation and prepare a new selection of spells. [I’ll PM you the choices.]

You all find yourself behind the Gatehouse, on a small and currently deserted road. One side is made up of small tenament buildings, many look abandoned--the screaming barmies can't be good for property values. Of those still inhabited, most have thier lights out at this hour, and the street is deserted. The other side of the street is bounded by a tall iron fence surrounding the three gardens and excercise yards of the Gatehouse.

The hole in tha wall Ephaez mentioned is easy to find and conveniently surrounded by razorvine. You see a small mortal woman sitting against a clear patch of wall. She wears a robe that is too big for her. It resembles a less expensive and dirtier version of Yebena's robe.

Drum appears out of nowhere right next to Bruce. Rather than saying/screaming something, as he usually does - he looks over at the Gatehouse with a look of fondness and longing. His eyes begin to water with nostalgia.

Those reading his mind would discern that it's false nostalgia. Drum has actually never been inside the Gatehouse. When he was arrested, they contemplated putting him there, though quickly decided afterwards that not only was he far too dangerous for its confines, but also irreversibly insane, and would be a bad influence for the other admittees. (As they would later find out, not even the Prison was enough to restrain the lunatic). The false nostalgia comes from a thought of "what if?" Drum realizes that this could have been his home - and thinks to himself that it had to be better than the Prison. This could have been home.. but no -why confine your home to a Building, or even a locale or city for that matter.

His home was the multiverse!

I think i know whats in that little box
,
Siddharta says with a more satisfied smile, purring softly through his whiskers.
He walks towards the box and looks at it intently (using the arcane sight, as you state the effects before i use the ability), putting his Halberd against his shoulder he then gently picks the box up, and when he feels nothing happen, from picking it up, he will open the box, and for a lark, let Drum have the first look, after i glanced that its safe to do so.
I will take the compass out of the box and put the box down, then show it in the air to all can see; this is what was the part of my pre-payment, it will help us find a way back easier.

A'grazzt is a perfectly fine destination by my standards. I don't think you'd much like it, though. They ask for an absurd toll too. As for the compass, it is valuble--priceless even, to a prisoner of Carceri who has all the time he could ever want to slog through jungles full of 'Leths and plants that want to make you thier lunch. To you, it is currently a uselesss piece of junk." Sidharta: Mearnloths: -travel the Styx on skiffs. -can be summouned to the banks of the Styx and can get anywhere on the lower planes in a few days. -notoriously unreliable, a good bribe helps avoid a swim in the Styx, though. You don't know the affect a greter Yugloth would have on this.

(not waiting for "Min" to have time to actually reply to me)
I suppose that our chaos addition did not have the inclination to arrange for part of his jink to be delivered beforehand? then if not, by all means, lets get going
, and he waves a paw towards "min" to proceed and activate the portal by her presence...not really acknowledging her actual presence, hold

Ah, them... i knew i recognized , but wasn't sure...

Bruce glances at Sid. "I thought we were still waiting for our guide? Which means that this conversation, regretably, has the chance to continue."

OOC: No offense burning spear, but if you limit the greeness to what you are actually speaking in character and/or use quotation marks that would be great.
