OOC: I'm back. Only one more 12 day absence in two weeks and then i'm around for the rest of the summer.

I've not heard back from REI in rather a long while. Trias, I still need a finalized character sheet and equipment list. (can I start the first combat encounter using the stats you've given me without any of the magic weapons.)

DM

Min seems to have relaxed slightly, her dark hands sitting crossed on the table, though her two skeletons still menace Drum. She seems intently focused on the conversation between Canzonzabar and Penance, although her glowing eyes seem not to be focused on either of the two (anyone interested is free to make a sense motive roll).

"Please excuse my interuption, I was...distracted, but this seems a a good time to return to the conversation. I too deal in information of the magical and obscure kind."

(Everyone please make listen rolls)

Penance arches a cultured eyebrow at the curious table guest. A most interesting figure...

"I am well read in magic and arcan lore, but especialy necromancy and divination. As for how, it is a matter of convinience and good, I have studied for many centuries and had the resources to obtain a great deal of hidden knowledge."

Penance:
You feel as though Min is ommiting some important details in her statement, but otherwise she seems to be telling the truth.

You don't hear anything you couldn't hear before.

Drum, you hear nothing either, possibly because you are distracted by you're anger.

Penance, it seems that Min is listening to a sound. You can't tell what it is she is listening to. Posibly, it is one of the other conversations on this level. (sense motive)

Penance smiles at her oblique retelling of her acquired trade. "Ah...on which Prime planet did you claim as your berth? Pardon me if I seem cross, being a blood by birth, but it would seem stretched to see a prime as canny in the Arts as the works in the Ring...but don't mark my statement, as I'm not a master of arcane lore, though I find the craft useful for many acquisitions." Penance makes his statements in a placatory manner, hoping to disarm any resentment that may arise from such a tedious statement.

Min visibly bristles at Penance's question, but only for a second. Sparks of red flash in her eyes breifly before fading.
"Ad'ter was my home until recently. It is an isolated plane, but it is far older than most other primes. Much magical knowledge exists there."

Almost as soon as Drum returns to the second floor, there is a flash of teal light. When you're eyse have rocovered from the sudden change, you see that the building is surrounded by a crackling net of magical energy. Before you can come to terms with this, you hear the sound of the reinforced front door being kicked from it's hinges. (you presume, it's the front door since it's the only door in the entire establishment). There is annother lull before the sounds of combat can be heard below. It dosen't sound as though the patrons downstairs are faring very well. Min stands and points, instructing her skeletons to block the stairs (surprise round is over, roll initiative now). many patrons are reaching for thier weapons.

As he marches toward the door, Penances toga is replaced by a Romanesque jerkin with ornate scalemail. The human turns to Canzonzabar. "We face invisible forces with deific weapons...(glancing at Min) we will need your expertise in divination, Madam, and I apologize if my prior words seemed coarse--I wanted to get a canny Prime's perspective on the matter.

He turns and steps onto the stairs, glaring down into the room, sword at the ready, though to the others his form winks out of existence.

"I apoligize, I have no spell memorized that can be used to remove invisibility, though I am able to see invisible foes myself. I was not expecting a fight like this today," says Min.

after a brief hesitation, she draws a thin and elegant greensteel longsword that hisses and spits acid as it is removed from it's scabbard hidden somewhere in her robes. Strangely, the sword has no crossguard. Sword ready, she walks with slow dignity towards the stairs, following a few paces behind Bruce.

At the other end of the rooftop, you hear a vicous string of curses in Yugloth as the nycaloth you saw earlier lashes out in innexplicable anger at the thing nearest it--the unfortunate mortal it was talking to.

Displeased with this interruption of an otherwise interesting conversation, Canzonzabar reaches within his splendid jacket to produce and unfurl a scroll of the Art with fluent and graceful movements. He speaks the arcane incantations to enhance his sight to see beyond that which normally is hidden, and moves to a central and open position where he has a good vantage point to observe the stairs and the entirety of the upper floor.

Meanwhile, Canzon sends telepathic instructions to Trift while surveying his surroundings and clutching his “noble’s stick”, ready to put it to use.

Cover the stairs and be ready to shoot for an invisible aggressor on my mark. Have Brimstone scout for any hostiles, but do not let it touch the field around the inn. Stay close.

OOC:
Using a scroll of See Invisibility, and moving to an open position where any stealthy attackers would have a harder time sneaking up on him.

Have Trift use a Ready action to shoot and his eagle companion scout for hostiles, as per instructions.

Spellcraft to detect the nature of the field enclosing the inn, and Spot and Listen checks below.

No, I didn't roll for you. You're posted actions will replace the delayed action.

Round two (declare actions):

Looking down the stairs, you can see that a group of several figures dressed in light-grey cloaks--thier faces obscured by similarly colored scarves is moping up the remaining patrons near the stairs using silver longswords. The cornugon you saw as you entered is dead, covered in stab wounds from the holy weapons. They appear to be under crossbow fire from the far side of the room, likely from behind the bar. Those who can see invisible enemies notice none in view at the moment.

Min's skeletons head down the stairs at her direction. Min seems to be quietly laughing to herself as she follows her bodyguards down the stairs, her sword raised in a defensive posture.

Canzonzabar: You don't have the foggiest idea what the spell in place is

Penance: It seems the enemies are inclined to finish their work on the first floor before moving up

Drum decides to move near the entrance of the bar, swords at the ready, though not attacking. He is waiting for this group to move up the stairs (or ahead) so that he can flank and attack them from the backside. Being a trained Assasin, he prefers to study his opponents before striking.

Also, if Min and he skeletons and (I presume) Penance and Bruce are moving down the stairs nothing's going to be coming up them any time soon. Also, if everyone would post the number of rounds left on thier invisibility spells (and the like) each time that would be great.

Penance steps carefully through the maze of combat and steps behind anyone who appears to be the leader. Raising his falchion high, he pauses in the stance and whispers to the figure. "Combat is a thirsty business. You might want to get some drinks for your companions."

If the person resists the suggestion, he quickly brings his blade to bear on the person's right shoulder, close to the neck (or through the neck) if possible. However, if he sets off to the task, Penance swivels and searches for the next seemingly "higher up" and slashes them or anyone in between him and that person.

Canzonzabar takes a quick glance at Trift, and instantly his visage changes to be identical to that of his bodyguard (his noble’s stick taking form of Trift’s bow).

Move up so you can get clear shots of the enemy force and kill any hostiles approaching us or my table guests.

While the real Trift moves ahead, the fake Trift follows only so much down the stairs so that he can get an overview of the floor, while staying out of sight as best possible.

OOC:
Using Disgise Self spell-like ability to assume identical image to that of Trift, and move unseen to Hide near top of stairwell. Trift moves a bit ahead so he can get good shots at any enemies and Readies to fire on any foes on their way up the stairs or about to attack Min, Bruce or Penance.

Dunamin, you're initiative roll is tied with BERK's, bet you have the higher dex, so you will act on count 16.5

Penance: As you enter the chaotic melee on the first floor, you see that many of the less drunk patrons and most of the serving staff and security have taken cover behind the bar or overturned tables nearby and are now harassing the attackers with a diverse array of projectiles. They show an alarming level of discipline under fire and are for the most part ignoring it. You cannot determine a distinct leader, though you do see a slightly larger concentration of enemies near some upturned tables at one corner of the bar. You can choose to use you're suggestion on the nearest enemy anyway, but you can also declare a new action if you don't want to.

Min's skeleton's move in response to a telepathic command and stand so they can attack any enemies that might approach Trift. Min begins chanting an arcane spell and directs her gave at the throng surrounding the table. Cowering behind a table is no way for a mage to behave, Min says condescendingly, with the telepathic message directed towards everyone in range, but more focused on the far corner. When she is finished casting, she moves slowly and menacingly towards the clump of tables, and ready to attack anything in her way. The enemies seem unnafected by this tactic.

(everyone please make a will save)

actions so far in round 2 (in order):

Enemies: Finish off drunken patrons

Drum:

Trift: advances down the stairs and readies an attack

Min's skeletons: Cover Trift with readied attacks

Bruce:

Canzonzabar: Stands atthe top of the stairs

Min: Casts, and advances towards the enemy, makes an intimidate check

Kyton security: readied attacks on anything that approaches the bar

Hamatula security: ranged attacks on any enemies

Bruce looks around the bar room, and raises his right hand. A tiny, pinpoint sized blue light appears in the palm of his hand, and a wave of blue light blasts forward, encompassing the room.

OOC: Bruce manifests Energy Wave (burning 15 power points). This takes the form of a 120 ft cone. If possible, Bruce will angle it away from the bar. If doing this seems to spare too many of the attackers, he will blast the bar as well.
Damage: 65 cold (fortitude save DC 26 for half damage)

As the light dims, Bruce speaks.

"Now that I have your attention, I figured I should let you guys know that if you don't leave now, you're going to die." There is no humor in his words. From his tone of voice, its like he's reminding them that you have to breath through your nose if you want to smell something.

Bruce: As threads of shadow weave together, you see that Min's spell creates a gaunt and wispy greature that stands about 10 feet tall with wicked claws. You recognize it as an illusion. Your power drops 8 of the attackers (as well as any unfortunate patrons), all of which had sustained some wounds from the defenders behind the bar. (even if they made thier saves, they'd still die or be so close to it that a hurled bottle would do them in). There look to be at least 20 more enemies, most are concentrated near the corner Min is headed towards.

Drum: Min seems to summon a creature with shortsword-sized claws and leathery jet black skin. You cannot fathom how this is possible in Sigil. (It seems so far the only thing you're failed save has done is to utterly puzzle you.)

Canzonzabar looks around for a relatively isolated foe, figuring that the remainder of the attacking force can be handled after the recent displays of power. When he has a suitable target, he intones the arcane words of a Charm Person spell and speaks in the victim’s mind with the comforting voice of a trusted friend:

“This whole incident is a terrible misunderstanding, is it not? Take cover as best you can, and I will sort it all out after things calm down. You can trust me.”

If Canzon feels that the subject gives in to his charms, he immediately sends this telepathic message to nearby security personnel and fighting patrons:

“A prisoner will be needed for interrogation. Leave this one alive (indicates location), and I will learn the nature of this attack later.”

Penance, both your attacks are easily deflected. The person you targeted the suggestion to laughs: "That would be quite a long walk, berk. Your tricks won't fool me." The left hand of the enemy whose life force you had drained is wreathed in purple light as he reaches out towards you. You feel the wounds inflicted on this enemy shift to yourself, at the same time, your assailent seems to gain his strength back. (38 damage, DC 15 will for half damage)

Min takes annother swing at the enemy that had deflected her blow the first time and annother at the enemy Penanance failed to touch. The first blow drops annother attacker, the second attacker is greviously wounded but still standing (gee, lucky rolls at this point on my part). This enemy gives a hand signal to one of his fellows, and his eyes begin to glow. He vanishes and appears about 30 feet away, he is replaced by a largely unhurt enemy.

OOC: sorry, you posted while I was editing. Also forgot to declare for Min's illusion

The insubstantial (except to Drum) creature Min created advances towards the nearst enemy and attacks it with it's massive claws. How an illusion can rip somone in two is uncertain, but this one just did.

Sorry guys, forgot to declare Trift’s actions for round 3.

Trift will use Improved Rapid Shot to hail four cold iron arrows away on foes, pelting away on a target until it drops, then moving on. He will prioritize any apparent spellcasters.

In succession, attacks use modifiers of +17/+12/+7/+2, resulting in hitting AC 35 / 18 / 21 / 7, dealing damage of 9 / 4 / 5 / 6
(except if they turn out to be good outsiders, because then they’re in a world of hurt much beyond this!)

Round 4 actions for team harvester devil coming up in a moment…

Trift's first 3 shots hit one target doing at total of 18 damage. (he can see no spellcasters) The effects of the arrows would suggest that these aren't good outsiders.

Round 4 actions

Canzonzabar raises an eyebrow at the tricks pulled by the foe that transferred damage to Penance, and concentrates on nullifying magic effects boosting the primary attack force in the corner.

“This should soften things up for you,” he informs his table guests.

In the meantime, Trift continues his barrage as before, hitting AC 33/24/12/21 and dealing damage 10/10/10/10.

OOC:
Canzon takes a use of his Dispel Magic spell-like ability to form an area dispel around the major force located in the corner, though without including friendlies – directing the center of the burst higher up if needed to achieve this (dispel checks at +9). Trift, being the Lawful servant that he is, damages with the same nice orderly number four times in a row Laughing out loud

OOC: Um...late note, but I did not read your edit earlier. If that was a necromantic effect, Penance is immune.

Trift drops his first target in annother two shots and move on to the next target, hitting once and missing once.

Canzonzabar's dispell has no visible effect on these enemies.
(OOC: psionics were being used, and I rule that psionics and magic are mostly seperate, except for SR, which also acts as PR. Important thing to mention earlier, oops.)

Min's 'illusion' tears annother enemy in two and turns to face annother enemy. One of Min's skeletons breaks away from Trift and moves to the nearest group of enemies, not attacking yet.

"I tire of this game. Out of my way,"
Min says coldly to her new adversary, taking two more measured strikes at the new foe. The second misses as the now headless enemy falls away. The only enemy remaining except the wizard is now fighting Penance. Min's escaped adversary, now a safe distance away, touches a wounded patron and some of his wounds seem to heal.
Now, wizard, let's see you run from a teleport warded building. says Min, turning towards her new target. (Intimidate)

OOC: Wow, annother crit. Dunamin, I know where you're luck's going now Eye-wink

"Dream on...yo," Both of your attacks are succesful, and your target falls, before he can finish the taunt. The only enemy left in this corner is now the wizard, who is still cowering behind a table.
