Great, what others? Samael asks the voice in his head, rolling his eyes in aggravation. Now that there's an opening in the doorway, he darts forward past the skeletons, still trying to avoid getting hit, and through the door way as quickly as he can go.

ooc: one of the skeletons stands guard at the entrance while the other makes a beeline towards you. He's blocking the entrance. Would you like to run at him?

OOC: Oh, I'll run perpendicular to him then so that he has to go either around or over the Coffin. Then once he's no longer between me and the exit I'll make a run for it.

One of them is running towards you, while the other stands at the entrance. he's ALWAYS at the entrance, so even if you run perpendicular to the first one, the other one remains standing.

Right, so I'm going to try to avoid one, I think I can afford to take one attack of opportunity. There's really nothing else I can think of to do. I mean, I probably can't defeat them in combat, I've got no magic in here, and I'm not about to steal stuff from this obviously trapped tomb. How large is the book? Can I use it as an improvised bludgeoning weapon?

Ok, i see - I understand (I was under the assumption that you were under the assumption that the exit was empty Puzzled  ) Ok then, go ahead. You do have your short sword (and your claws also do damage). If you'd like to use the book as a bludgeoning weapon, go right ahead - it's about a foot long and 3/4 a foot wide when closed.

OOC: Yeah, I dunno about the book. I think I'll just run. I'm rather doubtful about whether I could take these guys out without expending too much effort, and I've still got more things ahead, whatever they are.

You run past the skeleton that wildly misses. you are in a hallway that either goes left or right with solid stone in front of you.

RIGHT - TO THE ANTECHAMBER- QUICKLY!!

You're not sure how much you can trust this voice..

With no better options, Samael just has to hope the owner of this voice wants him to get out of here alive. He turns right.

Within seconds, the hallway opens up to an apparently empty ovular chamber. A dusty (though not cobwebbed, you note) chandelier is the centerpiece of this room. There are 8 evenly-spaced entrances into this chamber, including the one you just entered through -hypothetically speaking, if you were inside a spider, you'd be at it's center. The wall is mostly smooth save the area diametrically opposite from your entrance... the wight's claws- that is your way out.

The only sound you hear is rapid shuffling behind you - the skeletons in hot pursuit.

Samael quickly runs to the wall, touches it, and closes his eyes. I, truly wish to remain down here forever. He repeats it in his head, waiting for something to happen.

NO!!! WEAKLING!!! YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE MORE CONVICTION THAN THAT!!!

The shuffling grows closer, but you hear another sound of something landing right behind you. Looking behind.

You're quite sure this isn't going to help you truly wish to stay down here for another second.. much less forever.

OOC: In addition to initiative, make a will save every post.

Out of the periphery of your vision, you see several similar abominations literally leap out of the other entrances. There must now be a dozen. A chlling feral scream erupts from the one in front of you and it leaps towards you with the spear pointed.

Fortunately, the portal activates. You don't have to think twice as you make a jump for it, soon you are home free back to the Lady's Ward.

"Gah, sod it, sod it, sod it!" Samael gasps. Looking around to see where exactly he is, and how late it is.

Samael turns around and blinks at the creature, and yells "Why can't you just pike off!?" as he runs as fast as he can away from the creature.

For the fraction of the second that you take in your surrounds, you realize that you're behind the Temple of the Abyss (on the opposite side of the entrance). The streets are quiet and empty. A few lights in the distance give you false hope; from what you've seen of the others leaping, you know you cannot outrun this thing.

You also can swear you hear very faint screams coming from the building.

Everything turns gray, and your sight becomes limited. You feel very light...

You see the monstrosity.. confused, enraged... it charges and dents the back wall of the Temple of the Abyss. It then leaps over to the side of the Temple entrance ( you lose sight of it)

You enter into the a dark.. dank cellar....

to your surprise - there are caged people within these walls! This appears to be a prison of sorts. You are walking down a hallway starting from a dead end- to either side of you are vertical bars holding in people, and dead ahead.. about 40 feet is an iron door. It smells like blood and excrement.

To to your right are three separate prisons spaced about 12 feet apart... two with a young human woman inside, the third holds an old gith. These cells are barren save a jug for water inside. The women are handcuffed, and there appears to be a faint forcefield around them that prevents them from committing suicide via banging themselves on the walls or the bars.

To your left is a young boy, an empty cell, and...

...Firefly

Samael wonders down the hall, wondering just what all these people are doing here. Then he remembers... Of course, the sacrifices! The... ugh... It's a sodding pointless waste of life. Why do they... we do it? he keeps walking. Not really sure what to do until he reaches the cell with... "Uh- Firefly?!" He exclaims, forgetting that he is ethereal and thus invisible.

Firefly doesn't respond (and you eventually remember why).

Her face is shining in streaks.. tear-stained.

She is handcuffed and crouching with her eyes closed.

Firefly at first thinks the voice is in hear head from the madness that has settled in due to her impending doom.. but then she takes a peek.

Her eyes open wide.. first in shock.. then fear... then anger What.. you??.. in this Temple?!... Why?! ..ho.w..

She's at a loss for words.

"Doesn't matter." Samael answers curtly. "And you can tell me all about how you got in here when we're out. Do you know if there are any alarms or traps on this cell that'll activate if I try to get you out?"

Well tell me about the chamber then. Or don't, if you don't feel like it.

She doesn't know.

Ye'd better get out of here quickly, someone's gonna come down!

WHAM!!!

Even as she's finishing ... something upstairs slams, and you hear screaming, and shouts of surprise...

then you hear a familiar, terrifying sound... the cringing shriek of the abomination.

"Bar that- Oh pike it! What is this thing!? I'm getting you out." Samael grabs his bag of holding and holds it through the bars. "Get in! It's one of those magic bags."

OOC: This would be a good time to figure out what type of bag of holding it is.

I'm not sure.. According to my sourcebook - it can hold up to 40 times it's own weight, and the weight range is 7-20lbs - so in any case, you can hold Firefly (110 lbs) and any other items you currently have without breaking a sweat.. However, a living creature inside only has 10 min of air, otherwise it will suffocate. So, unless you're talking about another type (if so, please let me know), you have a small bag of holding - 7lbs.

OOC: Well, my book says that the smallest one weighs fifteen pounds and can hold up to 250, but I like yours better. Anyway, how long will it take to get her out? I want to try to get the others out before the monster slaughters them but it seems I'd have to make more than one trip to do it... I suppose I could cause a distraction somehow.

Also, have you found anything about the lethality of the incubus' energy drain?

I'd say it'll take 5 rounds to get her in, and 2 rounds to get her out (2 rounds = 12 sec - so it wont even count as a minute against the 10 min limit)

Yea, no luck with the lethality of the energy drain. I think it'd be best if we come up with something together. I propose that it is lethal only to creatures of lower HD than you - and even in that case, they get some kind of save (either fort or will). Furthermore - it's totally under your control - meaning you can suppress the lethality.

You quickly realize what kind of person Firefly really is:

NEH!! Ye can go, but I'm not even thinking 'bout leaving without these sods!!!

She pulls out a sharp, curved dagger with the obvious intent of destroying the rudimentary locks on the other cages.

Samael sighs, in truth he didn't really want to leave them behind either, but he didn't think they had time. "Fine, but we need to hurry. That thing is going to come down here any moment. And make sure you don't cut the bag."

OOC: from now on, I'm changing super-cricket's color in dialog - seeing as how it'll get confusing when two 'companions' have the same color.

NO!! Are you really that NAIIVE?!! What if it's a trap!?! Even if it isn't, I doubt whoever is up there - Priest and/or Tan'ari can defeat a Chosen Tracker!

You hear crashing of glass, screams, and what sounds like metal being rubbed on metal. Shouts of somewhat familiar spells and incantations are being hastily recited.

OOC: Spellcraft check if you care to discern what spells are being cast upstairs.

Immediately, Firefly jumps to the cage of the young woman across from her, quickly and efficiently destroying the worn padlock.. she is strong!

Without wasting time, she unhands the young human and tells her (along with the remaining prisoners) to pike it (eg. stay quiet). She's on to the old man in the adjacent cage.

What are you talking about!? What trap!? Start making sense!

"How are you planning to get these people out of here, Firefly?" Samael asks as approaches the iron door at the end of the hall and examines it for a keyhole or some crack he could peek through.

She doesn't answer you directly, but just points to the opposite end of the hall (the one without the door- the wall which you etherally traversed)... you're having a hard time trying to discern how she plans on accomplishing that... seeing as how the wall is at least one and a half feet of solid stone.

Meanwhile.. at the other end of the hall there is no keyhole, but some kind of lever mechanism activated from the opposite side that opens to these holding cellars.

You hear an inhuman growl one floor directly above your head- then there is a thump on the ground.

Firefly works with lighting speed, freeing two more captives, with one more to go.

My name is Lord Beraszar Malevrelnatz - exiled commander of the Legion of Eonia - the third largest Army in all of Baator. You will address me with respect.
--------------------------------------------------------
Firefly frees the last prisoner - and begins what seems like a standing-meditation.
-------------------------------------------------------
You hear the scuttle of several footsteps coming downstairs. One of the young women whispers to you... The stairs down lead right to this room!
------------------------------------------------------
A Chosen Tracker can only be destroyed on the Negative Material Plane - it can be incapacitated, however, in Sigil by a powerful enough abjurer, or if it is willed into incapacitation - usually this requires the will of several, perhaps a score.

Beraszar hm? Pleasure. Well then, we only need fourteen more. Good thing Sigil is so full of wills.

"Ah pike it, now what?" He looks at the woman. "It'll be alright, just stay near Firefly, and don't attract attention to yourself. I'm gonna see what's going on."

Samael goes ethereal and pokes his head through the door to see who's coming down the stairs and whether they seem intent on violence.

Two human priests with the robes bearing the mark of the abyss (a swirling arrow pointing downwards). Since everything is seen as grey when on the Etheral, you cannot make out the colors. However, the terror in their eyes is unmistakable.

Firefly Charges with Startling speed towards the wall through which you came! Amazingly enough, the wall cracks... but not nearly enough...She prepares for another try, and lays herself (shoulder-first) into the stone... and the crack deepens...

From the sounds of it, the mayhem continues on the upper floor. As soon as she hits the wall a second time, the Priests manage to open the door..

"Look berks, shouldn't you be a little more concerned about your impending deaths at the hands of that freak up there?" Samael asks dryly. "You just pretend for a moment that you aren't berks, and leave the lady to make us an escape route, then just maybe, we'll all get out alive."
