He sighs, "Ok... here goes nothing." He holds up the index finger of his left hand, the arm arm at a 45 degree angle, and draws his dagger with the other. He tilts his head back, and pricks the finger. Attempting to let four drops of blood fall on his forehead as he thinks to himself with each drop. I wish to die. I wish to die. I wish to die. I wish to die.

His thoughts are interrupted by a swirl of wind and a flash of blue light - a portal to Undersigil opens immediately in front of him.

Enter the Catacombs

The first thing to assuault your senses is the smell - the lack of oxygen in a place this far below would probably suffocate a mortal in a matter of minutes, despite the size of the chamber you're in.

Speaking of which -

Enter the Catacombs Undersigil

The first thing to assuault your senses is the smell - the lack of oxygen in a place this far below would probably suffocate a mortal in a matter of minutes, despite the size of the chamber you're in.

Speaking of which - you are in a mid-sized rectangular room in pitch darkness (through which you have no trouble seeing). The ceiling is high, though somehow constricting - there is one exit. In the center of the room is the coffin of the hag's husband. Beside it is a cobwebbed old pedestal with an open book.

It seems like the coffin is made of stone, and you're going to have to somehow pry it open. There is a chest in front of the pedestal (besides the coffin), probably filled with the family valuables she requested you not to loot.

You hear shuffling coming from outside the chamber.

The coffin, pedestal, and chest are all on a circular, raised and engraved platform. The rest of the room seems bare of furnishings.

The shuffling outside the room quickly halts.

Ok... this isn't safe. Oh well, let's just get it over with. Samael slowly approaches the coffin, but noticing the open book, can't help but be curious, and glances over to see what it is.

Shuffling begins again outside and seems to be getting closer.

The writing on the book (at least on the opened page) is indecipherable - none of the languages he knows (nor the languages he doesn't know he knows - eg. it's not magical writing, at least not the magic that you know.. or technically don't right now    ).

Your locket suddenly become very, very cold. You quickly remember that it's been about a turn (24 hours) since you donned it, and as you wince in surprise, out of the corner of your eye towards the entrance, you see:

You did not hear it come in.

Rofl, I don't know what blinding bloom is - the oblivion skeleton was the substitute - I tried the original again and pasted the URL just incase.

No response is forthcoming, and very quickly, the skeletal creature jumps on top of the coffin, and swings the chain back for another strike that ultimately misses, and instead, bangs off the pedestal, knocking the book to the ground.

So the ring is useless too, figures. And I don't really have anything that's effective against bones... Oh well, let's try this. "Kalaaahtcka! Kalaaahtcka! Kalaaahtcka!"

NICE MOVE!

The coffin opens outwards (away from you) causing the skeleton to come down with a loud crash. You can't see the skeleton on the ground because your view is blocked by the opened coffin. Inside is the well preserved corpse of the hag's husband. He seems like an unremarkable old human fellow in nobles robes. quickly spot his signet ring with the insignia of a flying silver dragon.

"Damn." Samael quickly attaches the armband to the nearest arm, and removes the ring. He's about to close the coffin again when he has an idea. If he can just get the timing right. He waits to see what the skeleton will do next, remaining on the defensive. Now just put that chain right there berk.

The strength and agility of the skeleton are unprecedented. It leaps over the coffin with it's full weight behind it, throws the chain whip - it would have hurt a normal human- such as the one you are disguised as, but it simply bounces off your tan'ari skin without doing any lasting damage.

OOC: because of your wording, I take it you voluntarily choose to take initiative second this round. In the future (whenever you have a hostile enemy in the vicinity) please make sure to roll initiative every post.

It's holding the loose end of the chain (the other end is wrapped inside its body - it'd probably be easier to outright attack it than grab the chain from its hands and put it in the coffin. You're free to do as you please, however.. Also, another suggestion is luring it to attack you while you're on the coffin, and for the split second while the loose end of the chain is on the coffin, you close it on the chain, effectively trapping (or at least hindering for a while) your bony dance partner.

As you start to get up on the coffin, two more skeletons enter the room- these two are both wielding falchions.

OOC: they will be able to attack in one round

Meanwhile, the chain skeleton attacks as you had hoped, into the coffin, and once again connects on your body but fails to damage your tough hide.

Initiative please!

Your ploy works as planned, with the chain stuck inside the coffin. You don't have time to enjoy that victory as you are assaulted by the two adjacent skeletons.

Due to Initiative, you have the fist action

The only route is through the two skeletons. One of them manages to connect with the falchion - a cut that would have felled a mortal, only manages to mildly scrape you.

No, when you leapt off the coffin, they didn't run any closer towards the coffin, they stood their ground to prevent your escape - they still stand between you and the door (sorry if I didn't make this clear).

Also, I understand you''re a lover, not a fighter. I won't force you to situations where you have to fight (at least not directly).. I hope you don't think that's what I'm doing...but you'll have to be creative to get out of certain situations, as you just did with the 'coffin-trick'

OOC: So then, the room is small enough for them to reach me on the other side of it...

Samael continues to dance and weave as he attempts to avoid the blades of his skeletal assailants. "Well, you seem to know what's going on, whoever you are. Got any ideas how to get past these berks? I don't suppose you got a look at that book, and can read it, and it turns out it's the commands to get the guardians to go away?"

Oh... crap I read wrong - you run to the side of the room OPPOSITE the skeletons.. apologies for the misunderstanding - my reading comprehension is not stellar.

Ok, so- let's take a step back

- one of the skeletons stands guard at the entrance, whilst the other one makes a beeline towards you.

You finally catch on that there is no voice.. .except in your head... your thoughts are once again interrupted:

SILENCE PAWN!! THESE THREE ARE CHILDSPLAY!

IT'S THE OTHERS YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT!!
