*blackthornes replies to Sheeram*
"Ok M'Lady , I will fetch the assassin."
*Blackthornes goes to open the door and invite Ian in.*
Game: Great minds think alike
OOC: Yes, he was responding to Sheeram's question directed at Lorevail. He just couldn't resist replying, though.
OOC: @MG: Thanks for asking. I am on a new medicine now and hopefully this will be the end of hospitalizations for me.
-Ophelia
Sheeram gives Ohalian a puzzled look. "Huh?"
[@Fidrikon: You there? Blackthornes opened the door, how does Ian react?]
Ohalian pauses for a moment, then replies, "Well, I suppose the word 'plotting' implies a bit more rational thought than he seems to be capable of, but the sentiment still stands."
Sheeram chuckles light-heartedly. "I wouldn't have thought you were so naive. You should start learning how to see beyond the surface, or you won't survive long in the Planes."
Ohalian shrugs.
"Eh. Look at the surface, prepare for the worst. If you expect the worst, you'll always be pleasantly surprised, and if you plan for everything that could go wrong, you won't be surprised."
Sheeram smiles knowingly. "In the Planes, if you expect the worst, the worst will come. Belief is power. Go to Baator and expect the worst, and you'll be damned for all time."
OOC: Oh, he only said he went to do it, and didn't actually open it yet. I just wanted to make sure he got there without interruption before I posted.
As the door opens, Ian turns and gives Blackthornes a look of mild interest.
"Yes?"
The blossoms of the bush left of Ian turn to Blackthornes just as Ian turns to him. They vibrate slightly, as if highly tensed.
Ian looks at the bush to his left out of the corner of his eye, and then back at Blackthornes.
What an odd plant. I think I'll ask Ophelia about it later.
"Lady Sheeram says you can come back in if you wish."
*Blackthornes is a little suspicious about the plant, but he casts is suspicion away, thinking the plant just another of Sigil's Oddities*
The blossoms turn towards Ian. A strange sound comes from the bush, which reminds the two men of a few dozen people saying "Ooooh!" as they'd do in a love scene in a theater play.
OOC: The plant just orgasmed?
[OOC: *laughs out loud* NO, that's not what I meant! Wouldn't have thought of that interpretation, but I can understand how you got to it
With "love scene", I meant emotional love, the first kiss, stuff like that. And that audience says "Ooooh!" because they're so touched by it ]
Ian looks at Blackthornes.
"Please tell me you just heard that." I say, pointing at the bush.
"Don't worry, i heard it too. Your not going barmy yet, shadowknife."
Ian looks around the street in as casual a way as possiblen (if he sees anyone he doesn't want overhearing this, the first paragraph is not spoken.), before looking back at blackthornes. He gives a smile but his words practically drip venom. "Don't say my name unless we are in private. Ever. Its almost as bad as addressing me by my profession. Especially in the Lady's Ward. I am John Murdoch, and don't let anyone tell you differant."
"I assume you can out here for a reason?"
*Blackthornes huffs in humor*
"As stated before, lady Sheeram says you can come back in.... and if you didn't want to be called that, you should have given me another name to call you."
As Blackthornes speaks, the entire bush shakes, the blossoms going up and down, making a sound like a hundred chuckling fairies.
Sheeram looks at the Illumian, giving her a friendly smile. "I don't want to hurt you. I just can't see people hurting themselves. It... it always hurts me, too."
Those in the room suddenly notice that Sheeram has turned back into the young girl, beautiful and noble. Noone has realized when the transformation has happened.
"Fair enough." Ian says. He stands up, dusts himself off, and walks back into the room.
As he walks back toward the group, if he catches Lady Sheeram's eye, he will give a repectful bow of the head.
Sheeram gives Ian the same respectful bow. He notices a friendly, yet sad smile in her face.
The illumian shakes her head slowly with a shrug. "No harm, Lady."
*Ophelia looks at all of the group in the room, then suddenly notices Lady Sheeram's change in apperance and lets out a little sigh.*
-Ophelia
Lady Sheeram gives Ophelia a wide smile. She walks over to her, and whispers for only her to hear: "Good to see you in a better mood, my friend. You are always a welcome guest at my house."
She then takes a place in the middle of the group. "I feel an urge in all of you to continue your mission. So, I will give you now what you have come here for."
Sheeram closes her eyes, then speaks in a monotone voice, "Three scribbling chests, containing documents from my last travel to Baator with Charrdh the Whisperer, pages three to seven, eighteen to twenty-two, and hundred to hundred-and-three."
Similar to how the table and chairs came up from the ground when the group entered, three small chests rise from the ground. They are wooden, with many protective steal plates and a silvery lock each. The chests appear exactly the same, a thumb's length high, a foot long and half a foot wide. The only differences are numbers on the chests' covers, displaying the pages that Sheeram spoke about. Those numbers are carved into the wood.
"I believe that these documents contain all the knowledge that will be of importance to you on your trip - unless none of you has Baator experience, but then I wouldn't recommend going down there, anyway."
She takes a look around the group, then addresses the Masked Gnoll. "I want you to take the first chest."
Turning to Blackthornes: "The second one is for you."
Finally, she gives a nod to Ophelia. "Please take the third chest."
After that, Sheeram silently waits for reactions.
The masked Gnoll lumbers over, picks up the chest and says "Gee, thanks!"
Presents for me! Presents for me!
*Blackthornes picks up the second chest, and gives a low bow*
"Why, thank you M'Lady, I will charish these and not let anything happen to them."
*Blackthornes stands up and puts the chest in his backpack.*
OOC: Just a heads up. I'm going to be out of town for a few days. I will be back home sometime thursday evening. I'm pretty sure I'll have some computer access, but on the off chance I do not... assume Ian to be standing on the sidelines, observing.
OOC: Believe it or not, I am going to be gone until thursday as well...... Family vacation.... I will be here tommorow, but after that, I am gone.
Ophelia walks over to the last chest and picks it up. "Thank you most kindly, and thank you for the help and kind offer. Yes I am in much better sorts right now." She nods to Lady Sheeram with much reverence and puts the chest into her bag and ties it really well, so thieving hands would have a hard time getting into the chest.
-Ophelia
"Each chest can only be opened by the one person that took it now. Touch the lock with your left hand, and think strongly Open the chest!, and it will unlock. The chest is magical, it shows always one page of my notes at the top; to see another page, the chest owner has to speak the word Flip. Speak it out loud and the next page will appear - but only if you touch the chest while you do it."
She turns around, giving everyone in the room a smile. "I wish you all the best on your travels."
"Thank you again Lady Sheeram, I suppose we will be on our way now." whipers Ophelia. She then puts her arm through MG's arm and will start walking away if he walks out too.
-Ophelia
As Ophelia takes the Masked Gnolls arm, he blushes. as if you could tell beneath a mask and a layer of fur.
Ohalian raises an eyebrow.
"That seems like a rather extravagant way to store your notes. You paranoid, or just obscenely wealthy? I've seen how much magic costs firsthand."
Sheeram gives Ohalian a smile, although that smile is neither friendly nor happy. It appears somehow... empty.
"Vampires, especially the more powerful ones, tend to hoard treasures and magic. I am a vampire hunter - more precisely, I am among the five most-hired vampire hunters in Sigil. This mansion contains more magic and wealth than most Prime Material kingdoms ever have."
For the very first time, Sheeram looks to the ground instead of looking into the eyes of the person she speaks with.
"Blood treasure is the official word for that, I believe."
Ohalian nods.
"There's nothing wrong with profiting off of good deeds, which is what killing most vampires would be."
Sheeram looks right into Ohalian's eyes. "We seem to live in different worlds, you and me. Yours is ruled by rational thought, mine by emotion. In my eyes, you are more of a dead man than many of the vampires I've seen."
She turns away from him, speaking to the group: "Please take care of the notes I gave you. I want to have them back once you return."
Ohalian bursts into laughter at Sheeram's statement.
"It's so funny because it's true. They're probably closer to still being human than I am."
Sheeram turns back to Ohalian, staring into his eyes, then turns away from him again. She doesn't say anything or show any other reaction.
OOC: Im back! we left sooner than expected.
*Blackthornes takes note of what Lady Sheeram says about the chest*
[OOC: So, I get it right the group is about to leave now?]
OOC: Fidrikon, reporting in. If it looks like anyone will make to leave, Ian will leave as well.
OOC: I am ready to go.
-Ophelia
*Blackthornes bends low and gives lady sheeram a light kiss on the cheek*
" Thank you for your help and kindness M'Lady. We will be taking our leave now."
*Blackthornes will start to leave as well*
"Yep. Bye. If I even need a Vampire killer, I know who I'll call on."
He'll then follow the others out the door.
Sheeram blushes slightly as Blackthornes gives her the kiss. "Thank you," she says with a smile.
"All the best on your travels. Oh, and... if you meet an imp called Ztach'thruk'amanul... page twenty of my notes."
She makes a pause as she watches the group leave her mansion. Just as the last person passes the door, she adds, "Take care."
Ian waits for the last person to exit the builing, and gently closes the door behind them.
"So, did I miss anything important?" He asks.
*Blackthornes turns to Ian*
"Not really, just a discussion about how to expell the vampire from her body. Oh, and I think the masked Gnoll might have broken something in one of her spair rooms."
[OOC: @nick: Don't get your posting...the thing with "Not about watching" was directed at princessbunny a.k.a. Lorevail the Illumian, if you were referring to that. Please explain what you mean...]
