"There are plenty of reasons to not be here when the Harmonium shows up. One of which is... and I'm sorry if you all forgot this, is that I'm a wanted man."
"As for the cube. Leave it. It is connected with the death of a Harmonium officer. Normally, I'd love to give them a hard time, but I don't like the thing. I dont give a mephit's ass about destiny, and he didnt say his name along with yours. His name sounded more like Iranimaoriloth, or something. I wouldn't reccomend correcting my pronunciation, just in case we call it again."

"And A'kin, I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but what exactly did we break? As far as I can tell, Tigerfury shot a cupboard. If thats what was broken, then I truely am sorry. But I just met the man this afternoon."

*Ophelia holds the cube in her hand tight. She looks VERY defiant.*

She whispers loudly to everyone, "I will NOT give this cube up. You will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hand."

*Ophelia stands there looking as if NOTHING will make her move twards anywhere,(except maybe out the door Eye-wink ). Her eyes keep darting from one person to the door, to another person to the door, etc.*

She then whispers very seriously, "I say we go. Sorry A'kin, but I personally did NOTHING to ruin your store. Why don't we just say that us cutters were never here, eh? I mean, YOU are the Friendly Feind, you can clean this up on your own, right? Or, would you like a payment for the trouble, one that we CAN afford? Either way we need to leave right away."

Ian looks exasperated. "FINE. We'll keep the cube, but while A'kin is a nice guy, he is a business man. Since, as far as I can tell, Only Tigerfury cause damage to the shop, I say we give Akin Tigerfury to pay for damages."
"And Akin's right, we can't leave yet. Or at least, You can't. The Harmonium will be here soon, and they will want a statement. Plus, we still need to pay for our supplies. However, i can't stay here, and its probably best if Naruk doesn't attract any special attention right now."

The raises her eyebrows, but gives a shrug. "I suppose you're right. A statement will need to be made." She walks over to the cupboard that A'kin suggested, looking through the items. She'll ask her specific questions once this has all calmed down a bit.

"What exactly do you suggest "we" say Ian? I don't think that I should be here either when the Harmonium shows up, after all I am holding the portal key. I'll go with you, Ian, and Naruk will come with us if he must. We will meet the rest of you all later at the bar we first met at, ok?"

"Okay, so that leaves Blackthornes, Tigerfury, and the Masked Gnoll here to give a statement. So the rest of us will... DAMN!"
"I forgot about the scroll!" He turns to A'kin and says. "If I'm leaving soon, I'm going to need to take the scroll with me, right? You said something about a bag before?"

A'kin observes the situation, then shakes his head. "I'm sorry, but I have to insist we follow the rules." He makes a waving gesture with his hand, and a clicking sound from the door appears. "Unless, of course, we find a better solution to this... uncomfortable situation."

*To Akin*
I think Ian may need to get outa here...I may not know him well but I've got to suggest that you let him go Akin. Sorta an honor among thieves ya know? after all, I dont want to be involved in a prison break or the killing of any law inforcers... so far I have a clean slate in Sigil, I'd like to keep it that way as long as I can."

"If you insist A'kin, I'll stay to give my statement. However, I would reccomend that, at least as long as the Harmonium are here you address me as..."
*Ian pulls out a white square of cloth, and presess it agianst his face. As the cloth turns flesh-colored, Ian seems to shrink, untill he have his orgiginal size. It is immediatly noticable that his clothing has not only changed size, but changed appearence. It would seem that Ian is now tall, yellow haired halfling wearing a green shirt and leather pants and vest.*
"... Sven Lightfoot. A Halfling minstrel from Arborea." He says. "I will still tell them everything that I know about this situation, and I wont be arrested afterwards. Then we can handle the matter of your shop. Agreed?"

The redhead leans out of the cabinet, holding up a few assorted object. I"ve never seen anything like these before, A'kin...What are they?"

She also addresses the rest of the group with a bit of a uppity sniff.
"If you're all trying to stay incognito, I'd suggest you do so quickly. And begin speaking of other things more quickly as well. You never know if someone will be listening at the door before barging on in."

Ian looks around the room and turns to A'kin.
"Could you do me a favor, Akin? Could you roll up The Scroll around the cube? I don't know a lot about magic, but Im pretty sure it would be tough to detect a artifact thats so close to another artifact."

"Do any of you have a gem, or a small, non magical trinket? Ihave a plan." Ian say, smiling.

"Neat," A'kin says, obviously a bit startled. "This seems to be more fun than I expected."

Something in his voice tells that there's a deeper meaning to his words than just what's obvious.

"Ah, well," A'kin adds with a smile, "until now the scroll is still my property, so I'm going to keep it myself, if you don't mind. It's pretty expensive, and I don't want the Harmonium to lay their fingers on it if it's not necessary... besides, as we all know, it's better for THEM if they don't lay their fingers on it, too, and we also recently got a good proof that sometimes they do really stupid things."

He takes a deep breath, then shakes his head looking at Ian. "On the other hand, I don't want the cube anywhere too close to me. But at least I can give you a trinket."
Pulling an earring from his left ear, he throws the jewelled golden item to Ian, explaining, "A small protection spell had been cast on it yesterday, but the spell wore off about seven hours ago."

Turning to the most recent visitor in the shop, A'kin answers her question. "Ah, what a fine choice, mylady. The silver necklace that you hold up there has an Arborean Starsky Emerald engraved in it. It has the power to double the effect of any healing spell, as well as any positive spell using the powers of the night sky, once a day. The small red statue shows the goddess Hathalathan, and as per her domains of power, it allows the bearer to find the path to the answer to any single question, once per Sigil year. Finally, this beautiful ring with the ruby can steal a vampire's powers for about twenty seconds... of course, you need a vampire around and hit him with the ring to get his powers for yourself, and it only works with common vampires... more powerful ones can protect themselves from the ring, usually."

Ian takes the Earing, and walks over to the Mindflayers corpse. He uses his cloak to wipe off any fingerprints or such, places the earing in the illithids hand, and steps away.
"It would seem that whatever magic he used to open that portal was a single use effect. Pity." He says smiling. Then his smile fades.
"Wait..." he turns toward Akin. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you still want full price for that scroll, right?"

"True. But it would seem that I am cursed in such a way that, If I do not take it with me, I will die a horrible death. You said so yourself, did you not? And since this curse from the bonding was both accidental, and caused by an attempt, however unnecessary, to help you protect your shop, I did entertain the hope of some form of discount."
"However, since you are a businessman, how about this. I will work for you, for free except what little is required for me to buy food, untill I have earned enough credit to buy the scroll from you. However, just this morning I signed myself on to the expedition to baator that originally brought us here. You let me borrow the scroll in some form of bag or another for safe transportation, and from the moment I return I will be in your service as an indentured servent. However, I would like to hold the right to sign myself onto planewalking expeditions on the requirment that all treasure and payment gained on said travels will be given to you as a part of my paying for the scroll. We can even consider the trip to Baator as the first of these trips. Who knows? On such expeditions, I might even find an artifact or item worth as much as the scroll for you."
"However, since you are a businessman, to reduce the monetary risks of this, you may use any form of magical contract you wish to ensure my end of the bargin, and I will pay you, right now, 5000 gold, with the assurment that, when this original matter is finished, I return to work off my debt."
"This works well for us both. I don't die, you eventually get the payment for the scroll, and the possibility of new magical items to sell in your store. I'm sure we can work out something along these lines?"

It happens even to the most experienced planewalkers - believe me, I have my experiences. But I do have an offer which... comes close to yours. A'kin leads Ian to a door behind his counter, the doorframe showing a couple dozen of magical runes. On the way, he answers the Illumian, "Feel free to browse through my shop. My dear friend Katkalkan will answer any questions you might have. Katkalkan!"

Leading Ian into a small, square backroom with light brown curtains on the walls and a single, square table in the exact middle, A'kin closes the door with a wide smile. A single candle, about the size of a human arm (and strangely even resembling the shape), stands on the table and brings light into the room.

"So there we are," A'kin says meaningfully. "First of all, I want your word that anything said within the confines of this room will not be communicated to anyone else, in any way. Fine?"

As Ian finishes the sentence, he feels a sign, a magical rune, burning into his mind. He can almost see it, red and gleaming, and he is totally aware that this magical power will keep him from communicating what will be discussed here, that it will block even the most powerful magical spells.

"Fine! Very fine. Then we can begin, I guess?"

He flips his fingers twice, and two comfortable, ornamented wooden chairs appear at the table. "Take a seat, my friend."

„Well... maybe you noticed that I wasn’t entirely happy about our... unexpected guest, looking down on us from the portal. Indeed, I am sincerely unhappy about the return of the cube. Thus, I want you to find a way to destroy the cube – and do it. Nothing of the cube shall remain. Of course, such a task needs a real blood of a planewalker to fulfil, and I am totally aware that a service of such a master like yourself, for such a task, is worth so much more than what I offered. So here is my deal for you: Beside what I already offered, I will remove any curses, wounds, and illnesses that you might catch on your adventure. Also, when you return to me, having fulfilled your task, you may choose any three artifacts – note that I say artifacts here, not trinkets – from my store. And I repeat – three artifacts. Not to forget about, say, a hundred thousand pieces of gold?”

I would hope after hearing what I just said that you would understand, you of all people who want to go back home someday....well that place felt like home to me..." "To be honest, I have no idea what happens when the cube is destroyed. I guess you should follow your intuition there, depending on what means of destruction you find. As for the creature that belongs to the face you've seen, I can assure you that with the destruction of the cube, that creature will lose its power and be of no danger anymore."

A'kin ponders a moment, then continues. "Acheron. Travel to the floating Cubes of Acheron, there's one which is known as Hayfan's Home. Hayfan is an immortal master blacksmith - really meaning master, here. The cube that he lives on was crafted by himself. I know he has something to do with the creation of the item. He was around when the Abyssal layer disappeared, and he might be the only being in the entire multiverse who knows what exactly has happened there."

Or, one of my favourites, the Anticurse Scroll, an item that protects you from any one curse, with the probable exception of divine curses and such. Oh, and of course the Wand of the Universe, which has the power to crush... well, anything, really, if the wand's bearer has enough power. "Acheron? That could be tricky. I'll have to make that trip after the Baator matter in finished. A couple more questions and I think I'm set."
"First, I take it that we should, under no circumstances, use the cube? No offense to your spellcasting ability, A'kin, But he seemed rather powerful. If he got wind of what my mission is, I'm sure he would be rather angry."
"Second, it would probably be best if, considering my mission, I carry the cube. However, both Ophelia and Blackthornes seemed to have become surprisingly attached to it. If you could do me a favor, and back up my story that whatevery bag or whatnot that your give me to put the scroll in we have to put the cube in as well, to deter anyone from following us. Once the scroll and the cube are together, I should be able to convince them that, to provent unfortunate accidents in case we were seperated, I would have to carry the them."

"Absolutely right about using the cube. As for a backstory, that's easy. You're going on a mission to Baator - and just do that first, I'm fine with that. The cube stands in connection with a lost Abyssal layer. The baatezu should, under no circumstances, find out that you carry something like that with you. So I'll give you the absolute perfect bag for hiding it - of course, it's the same where you hide the scroll, which you may also not lose under any circumstances. Finally, I've got an item that can trick the other members of your group into believing you're still pursued by baatezu even after leaving Baator - so you'll have a reason to keep the cube later on."

Nobody outside of your group, except me, should know about the cube - it's too dangerous, for all of us. I think you should try getting her into your group. Besides, she's got that look in her eyes... I think there's a priest or something in her. Could be very useful on your travels."
