Daraz uses the hat of disguise to switch his appearance to that of a githyanki.

Elly lies sprawled over Ian's body, sobbing. Ian still beathes, but from his burns it is obvious that without magical healing that will change in a few minutes.

"Oooh! Ian! Why didn't we visit the temple earlier? Why didn't we get healing potions before they were all rationed out? {boo hoo hoo} I told you the city would fall! If I hadn't told you about the portal, you'd have died on the Overlord's swords like the rest of the academy {snif} and it would have been a kinder fate {uk ... uk ... waah haah haah ...}"

Daraz collects the coins and blades of the fallen tieflings and then turns towards the two primes.

"Give me your jink and I will leave you to yourselves. Protest and I will kill you. Besides, I can garuntee that the money is going to a nobler cause than your own." (intimidate=9+situational stuff)

"{snif} Y ... You're ... You're robbing us? Not that it matters. Nothing matters anymore. Just kill me, I don't care. This is all my fault. Oh Ian, I'm so sorry {boo hoo}." Elly's once-pretty face is now half covered with acid scars. She craddles Ian's dying body in her lap, as if her falling tears could heal his burns. She does not even move as Daraz loots first the tiefers (not much jink there) then takes the luggage where Ian carried the items the primes took when they fled their homeworld. Their magical gear consists of three wands, two rings, and an Ioun Stone.

"Be careful what you wish," says Daraz, walking off. He'll change forms to that of a nnother githyanki in the nearest occupied alley then he will go to sell the swords.

Daraz will also stop to have his loot identified if there is a convenient place to do so.

Daraz can I-D and pawn the goods, but it'll take the rest of the day to do so. The only item of interest from the tiefers are the redskirt's daggers. A matched set, and magical, but Daraz didn't catch the command word to make them flame. Other than that they've got two dozen stingers and a couple of shivs that aren't even worth the trouble of carrying to a buyer.

The primes are better fish. The wands and rings can be sold to any one of a number of fences. Daraz recognizes the Ioun Stone as something special, though.

Daraz doesn't have time to identify the stone if he wants to get back to Haven Port by Half-Decending.

OK, that comes to, split 5 ways, about 5k g.p. for each PC, paid in merts (platinum).

Is Daraz going to keep or pawn the daggers?

After resting at his apartment and tending to his gear Ar'dru heads out to do a little shopping and trawl for rumours before arriving at Haven Port.

checks below can be applied as necessary to see what he finds out on his way- he's particularly interested in any news about the singer of fire or the new duthka'gith in town but listens to anything that sounds useful.

He also fire-proofs his pack once he buys the wrap.

Ar'dru finds out the following info on the street:

1)There were many casualties in the illithid attack, but very few of the illithid escaped.

2)The attack appeared to target a particular group of githzerai first.

3)The 'zerai are being particularly tight-lipped lately, even more than usual. In fact, githzerai are being strangely secretive (as opposed to being their usual secretive) all over the city, abandoning their normal businesses and disappearing from the public eye.

4)Many githzerai have been seen sneaking down Duskgate Road to the area of Git'riban known as the sharpshadows. This is unusual, because the residents of the sharpshadows are mostly githzerai outcasts who are safer living next to githyanki than to their own people.

5)Most everyone in the square saw the ulitharid, though only a few know enough about Illithid House to actually identify the ghaik. Still, rumor is starting to hit the streets that a ulitharid led the attack on The Heart of The Void, and that it was slain. The last part of the rumor is the most vague, since nobody [except the PCs] saw it killed. The rumor of it's demise seems mostly to be assumption or wishful thinking on the rumormongers' parts, and so details vary widely. Still, enough combatants saw Ar'dru fly after the ulitharid that many rumors say a duthka'gith was the ulitharid's slayer. At least one rumor also identifies an armored githwarrior and a dark-cloaked mage in the pursuit. [I'm assuming Ar'dru isn't proudly proclaiming he's the slayer to all and sundry]

6)Everybody's afraid of a duthka'gith (even if githyanki are good at overcoming their fear), not only because Ar'dru is walking (and flying) death incarnate, but because it is assumed that a half-dragon has the backing of the Cult of Tiamat (even if Ar'dru really doesn't). The Cult is not strong it Git'riban ... yet ... but it is thought that Tiamat has spies throughout Sigil, and has access to some of the Baatezu intelligence network.

7)Nobody knows about a new duthka'gith in Git'riban, nor recognizes the name Lahar. That is, except one githyanki. At the mention of the name, she replies, "Lahar ... I think that was the name of the Queen's Firebringer for the incursion into Aebir-Toril."

8)Info on the Singer of Fire also fails to yield much more than Ar'dru already knows, except for various githyankis' opinions on the subject (for which he has to beat up no fewer than four individual githyanki with anti-duthka'gith views).

[for player info, I will list what Ar'dru, as well as most githyanki, know of her]

- She is a duthka'gith and leader of the Cult of Tiamat (or at least a figurehead)

- She, like all the Vlaakiths before her, is a powerful sorceress.

- She has the least support of the three Princesses of the Ascendancy among the githyanki. Still, the support of the red dragons is no small thing, and she may be the only hope for reforging the dragon alliance.

- As she has the least support on the Astral, she has been cultivating a wider base than the other Princesses, especially when one considers the outer planes. It is believed that because of Tiamat's residence on Avernus, that the Cult has access to some of the legions, and especially the spies, of Baator.

The Heart of The Void, Half-Descending

The light of Sigil is fading, and torches are being lit throughout the City of Doors. The fogs and drizzles of the last few days have been blown away by a dry breeze with the smell of wheat that spills from the Market Ward. Many doors facing The Heart of The Void are open, but no street-carts grace the square. A circle of five Dabus float above the cobbles in the center of the The Heart, the only remaining sign that there was a riot here in the early morning hours, and a mark of The Lady's displeasure at pitched battles occuring in her streets.

There are a few gith loitering around the Heart, keeping a wary eye on the enigmatic keepers of Sigil, and speaking in hushed tones amoung themselves. Two Githyanki, both wearing ornate armor, stand on opposite corners of where Gith Lane spills down in a broad flight of steps into the Heart.

[DM note : It was at the arch at the top of these steps that the first portal opened. The cadre of githzerai were near the bottom of the steps, and there are still stains on the stones there. A total of five alleyways open up on either side of the steps at various levels, and some of the attackers charged out of these as well.]

The pair of githyanki, one male one female, stand proclaiming in loud voices, sometimes speaking to each other, but mostly preaching to the few assembled gith in the square. The first [The PC's recognize him as Xar'Sauken, the githyanki who fought with them and formed their rear-guard.] is a tall gith with a two-handed sword, which he often waves around while he talks. The other is silken-voiced, but no less fanatic.

"Freedom is the right of the strong! Death is freedom for the weak! Freedom or death, that is the choice of all free beings while the enslavers live!" Xar'Sauken shouts.

"To fight and be free or die in battle. That is what Gith chose, and what Her True still choose. To die in fear and horror, thralls to their cowardice, that is what those who turn their backs on Gith choose." the female Gish replies.

"The choice is Freedom! To slay or ally, that is our tradition. Our enemies will not be prisoners, they will not be slaves. Our enemies shall not be! They will die by our blades, spells, and minds. Those worthy will join us against the Great Enemies of All."

"Gith sees worthy allies, and Gith sees Enemies. She has freed us and given us our choice of life and death. Follow the True Gith and her teachings, for in them are honor and rightousness."

"Freedom is rightous! The choice is honorable. All mortal beings yearn for freedom. Those that would choose to resist the Great Enemy deserve to slay, or deserve to die attempting to slay. To deny them this freedom is to enslave them."

"Gith freed the thralls of the Great Enemy. Without Her, their domination would still be consuming the multiverse. But only those worthy of alliance shall be offered it. Forget not the Two Skies! To harbor treason in the fortress is to give an enemy the keys, so it is written in the fifth stanza of Lay of the Battle for Sifar!"

"The Sons of Zerthimon still stalk the ghaik, and when they do they are considered 'Not-Enemies'. They are free, and being free have chosen Rrakkma! Wars die, though the Great War can only die if The Great Enemy does, why shouldn't the Two Skies die someday?"

"The word of Gith is clear! Zerthimon opposed Her, and so he had to die! His followers opposed Her, so they too must die. That they die after they kill ghaiks, not before, does not change Gith's words. Follow the path of the True Gith! She has returned to her children in this troubled time!"

" ... Freedom, etc. etc. ... "

" ... Gith, etc. etc. ..."

[The PCs do not arrive at the Heart at the same time, so the particular sermons vary, but you get the idea.]

Heavy steps and the resounding clanks of Godsteel armor mark the arrival of Du’minh of Nor’mujin, as the veteran githyanki warrior draws near the Heart of the Void. By his lower back rests the head of his mighty flail in a custom-made holding contraption, a design uniquely fashioned into his spiked splint mail, the flail-chain giving off a dull jingling with each step taken.
Among the crystals adorned throughout his armor, a recently installed gem glints from the chest section when illumination of a streetlight falls on it.

The Rish-i-Chal approaches the small crowd, casting a brief eerie glance back at the floating tenders of Sigil before devoting his full attention to the passionate sermons. He gives a respectful nod towards Xar’Sauken and listens in on the words of the pair for a while, being a man in search of guidance, even though he is not fully aware of it yet.

"True sons and daughters of Gith, harken! She has returned! The savior walks once more among Her children. All who would be loyal to the first and greatest of the People, come hear the words of The True!" the silken-voiced Gish announces.

"Freedom is the right of the People, who have struggled for it. Freedom has been delivered to them. Rejoyce, my brothers, in Freedom. Know that only the sacrifice of many has brought it to you. By the enslavers' deaths we shall free the mutiverse from the illithid's tyrany at long last!"
Xar'Sauken retorts.

Du’minh listens for a while, taking note of the core beliefs behind the power blocs represented by the two speakers: The True and the Reconciliation, he presumes. Though he nods in agreement to parts of both speeches, the end results washes over him when the underlying propaganda eventually burns through. To the Rish-i-Chal, Xar’s words on the strive for freedom are spiritually uplifting, but he winces at the subtle suggestions of eventual peaceful resolutions with the Zerth. The gish’s recounting of the teachings of Gith fill his heart with pride of his heritage, but the claims of Her return still sound too amazing for him to fully consider as possible reality.
In the end, he is left much as he was before: with an unclear path before him, holding more questions than answers

Division is weakness and leads to death, the time is for the People to stand united and for the Empire to be reforged, he thinks to himself and eventually carries on, heading for Haven Port Inn.

Ar'dru nods thoughtfully at Xar’s words and snorts sceptically at the Gish. Giths' return would be wonderful but he doubts that this is anything more than a grasp for power by an ambitious warlord.

Whilst he doesn't fully agree with either of the speakers he appreciates that both are arguing from a foundation in the words of Gith even if their motives are skewed.

After listening for a while he turns thoughtfully and enters the tavern.

The Heart of The Void

"I saw the True return of Gith with my own eyes. I felt Her presence in my mind. There can be no doubt that it is She. I am not alone in my conviction. Ask any of the Band of Diamond, or of the Band of Lapis, or of the Band of Lead, or any other warrior at the Battle of the Darkfields. We were all witness. Those who have come after have faith of Gith's return, but for the first of The True, we do not need faith. We *know*!"

"Gith's soul has been kept from the People since the forging of the dragon alliance. If she has indeed returned it proves that Freedom cannot be denied. Cast off the shackles you have placed on your minds! Free your thoughts, then free your blades from their scabbards! Death to Enslavers!"

Haven Port Inn

The Inn is lit within only by blue-white runes that shine from the pillars lining the outer walls. The place is fairly busy, almost two dozen patrons in the large main room. More than half of the patrons are pirate-gith, and some are quite drunk. One knot of a half dozen pirates are notable in that they all wear bright red sashes and bandanas. The other patrons include a trio of githyanki [PCs recognize one as being the githyanki that jumped out of the balcony during the fight] and five grey-cloaked githzerai sitting with their backs to a far corner.

When Ar'dru enters, Du'minh is already standing at the bar. The bartender and a few servers are bustling around the place, filling orders, cleaning cups, and generaly being busy.

Daraz, appearing as he did when he met the group previously stesp into the heart and as a matter of habit, his eyes dart around the square looking for threats. His gaze falls on the group of dabus for a moment. As he passes the two speakers, he nods his head slightly in agreement with Xar. (though he is careful to look at niether speaker.) Daraz also enters the tavern.

Du’minh eyes the githzerais closely, trying to determine if they are the same group that appeared to be the original target of the illithid attack. He looks in particular to see if the tall apparent leader is among them, the one he presumes to be Zur Khaan, and sharpens his ears to see if that name is spoken among them.
Ordering a drink from a reliably-looking bartender, he discreetly inquires about their identity, keeping his voice low and his manner unassuming.

When Ar’dru enters, Du’minh greets his new comrade and offers him a drink, extending the same courtesy to Daraz when he later shows up.

“It is good to see the two of you again. I trust you both have recovered after our latest venture?”

[The 'zerai have their hoods up and they all wear grey precicely so one cannot ID individuals easily. Still, you'd know the tall one if you saw him, and he is not among the 'zerai in the corner. Ar'dru smiles when he sees the Du’minh by the bar.

"Quite my brother, I trust the same is true for you? I confess, I am eager to discover what the vanquished beast has to say."

Ar'dru accepts the drink and inclines his head in gratitude greeting Daraz cordially when he enters.

He offers to buy the next round when appropriate and orders baatorian whisky with fireseeds on the side.

When possible Ar'dru does a scan of the bar to assess any potential threats/ anything of interest (probably once when he enters and again when Daraz does).

Du’minh keeps his voice low while discussing the matter of the posthumous interrogation, occasionally casting quick looks about for any eavesdroppers.

“Have either of you considered what questions we should ask? The specifics on this particular incantation are familiar to me, and the spell only allows a precious few number of answers to be extracted from the corpse every week or so, depending on the divine agent conducting the ritual and assuming he manages to break the original spirit’s will in the first place. We must take great care not to waste this opportunity.”

[Ar'dru notices the following about the 'zerai: One of the githzerai wears a silver chain and bejeweled amulet. While this is not unusual in any way, Ard'ru does recognize the silver chain, and therefore the githzerai wearing it, from the battle in the Heart earlier. At very least, that githzerai was one of the greycloaks first attacked by the illithids and their thralls. The remaining four githzerai in the corner may or may not have been among the group, it's impossible to tell.

There is a band of six bards playing in Haven Port. They are (mostly) gith. Githyanki, probably, though most are dressed in Sigilan fashion. There is one of the bards (obviously the most skilled, even to untrained ears) who is not of the gith race. He has pale skin and eyes that look like shining chrome. He wears a pale grey hooded cloak accented with silver and platinum jewelry. Out of his hood spill long braids of sillver-grey hair. The PCs recognize him as a Thendar, a 'grey wanderer'. They are a rare and enigmatic race, natives of the Astral before the arrival of the githyanki. Already in decline in the early days of Gith's rebellion, they were among the first allies, and first victims, of githyanki expansion into the Silver Void.]

[DM - When Ar'dru tells Du'minh what he noticed, it is an easy matter for the Rish-i-Chal to confirm that the silver necklace is magical. What's more, the gith wearing it is a spellcaster, probably a Zerth. He's the only spellcaster of the group of five, however.

The gith pirates have no spellcasters and very little in the way of magic, except for the group with the red sashes and bandanas. These six seem slightly better outfitted than the rest of the ruffians, and one of their number is a spellcaster as well.

The three githyanki are unremarkable in that their armor and gear are magical, as expected. None of them are spellcasters.

The last group of special note is the musicians. Several of the instruments they use give auras, no surprise considering their likely materials. All but one of the gith bards are spellcasters, also not surprizing. The Thendar is a magical being through and through.]

“Yes, I had also gathered as much, and have speculated on these Zerth patrons in the corner in particular… They might be worth looking into, after our more pressing concerns are out of the way. Take heed, that silver chain is enchanted and its owner a spellslinger, so much have I sensed.”

Du’minh takes a swig from his mug and leans back a little, listening in on the bardic musicians practicing their craft with one ear, the other at general attention as his vigilant nature bids him to be. He finds that he cannot bring himself to relax all too much, and in his mind there is the ever-present feeling that far much darker times have yet to come.

“Once we all are assembled, I will have a thing or two to say about Illithid House and what I think our next cause of action should be.”

As Rey joins them, the Rish-i-Chal nods his greetings, and makes room for the divine warrior.

“Well met, Vivec. Let us talk specifics where there are less eyes and ears. We are still one man short, however, so for now take a seat and have a drink until he shows up. Fickle as the chal may be, it would be dishonourable to break our deal and start off without him.”

The door swings open, revealing a black clad figure with his hood drawn low. The cowl shifts from right to left as the figure scans the room. He walks softly and slowly toward the bar, a bizarre staff of twisted illithid tentacles reinforcing his steps. Instead of addressing anyone, he drops a moist sac of interlaced, tubular material on the counter and stares straight at Vivec.

"Would you have a mind to talk in private, either before or after the deal?" The three githyanki seem to be having a private disagreement. Two of them turn their backs on the well-armed warrior who joined the fray from Haven Port's balcony. These two, an older warrior and a younger one, take a table in the opposite corner of the room from the five 'zerai. The lone warrior just shakes his head at their departure. He approaches the opposite end of the bar from the party and orders a drink. He nods toward the party and raises his glass to them before drinking.

[Description from the fight in the Heart]

'Azure' wrote:

The Githyanki warrior wears the ornate armor of his kind. He is heavily armed, with a longsword shiethed at his side, a greatsword on his back, and a pair of daggers in ornate scabbards. He wields a third sword, a bastard sword, with much skill. As he engages his foes, every now and then his eyes flash with intensity, and something happens, either a fallen weapon strikes toward a foe, distracting him, or the Githyanki teleports out of one situation to reappear behind an unsuspecting enemy. In battle-speak he shouts "Kith'rak Gy-Nath".

Ar'dru awknowledges the warrior and nods politely before returning to the conversation at hand.

"I am eager to begin the interrogation. The longer we have the information the more time we have to plan. Shall we arrange a private room or did you have a different location in mind?"

Jhank'kor glances around once more for prying or suspicious folk before staring down at the spherical sack before him. "I do not trust the Void and its accompaniments...the ghaik entered too easily--I would not want to sit in a possible Elder's nest to discuss these matters.

"No, a more secure location such as my case--or another's--would do." The war chal strokes the tuber satchel absently in thought.

Ar'dru drums his claws against his horn 'beard' thoughtfully creating a low clicking sound. Personally he thinks that Du’minhs' house would be best (close and secure) but he would never be so rude as to suggest it.

Only a few minutes after the warlock arrives, the door of Haven Port opens and in strides a gang of ten savage Athasian gith. They wear mostly leathers, and they carry primitive but masterfuly crafted spears of wood tipped with razor-sharp heads of dark volcanic glass. Strangely, each also carries a potted plant.

The first to enter is the same mage that Jhank'kor and Ar'dru saw in the lot, only now, they finally get a good look at her. She is tall, as tall as Ar'dru. Her long black hair is in many braids, held by beads of carved wood and bone. She has an eyepatch over her right eye, and her left is a smooth black orb. As she approaches the bar, Jhank'kor notices that around her 'good' eye are scars, left when someone removed her eyelids with a sharp blade.

She walks up to the bar and sets down her potted plant, a two-foot tall shrub with half a dozen small purple fruit. "A gift from the Black Spear Clan Gith to the Haven Port Clan Gith."

"Whistles and Bells! Not this again! Can't you bashers use jink like everybody else?" The bartender raves.

Close behind her are nine more Athasians. The closest is a bald gith who glances about with a nervous energy. He is bare to the waist and covered with burn scars. He has a bow and quiver in a leather scabbard strapped to his back. He carries a spear and twig of a plant with three bright yellow fruit and an orange-yellow flower.

The next is an older female gith, who carries one of the largest plants. She has long white hair in a single braid, and unlike the others wears a long robe of pale blue.

There are three gith, young females barely old enough for their first tests, who are identical in every way, down to their robes and their spears, which have embelishments in the form of small hanging pouches and bones with carven symbols. They are even carrying three of the same species of plant, a bush with shiney leaves and fat, silver berries.

Close by these three is a male gith of the age of first Rrakkma. He seems quietly alert. He carries a blue cactus.

A gith in ash-colored robes of about the same age carries a staff with a green gem instead of a spear. Perched near the top of the staff is a black scarab the size of a gith's skull. His plant looks sickly.

Close to the one with the scarab, acting like a bodyguard would, is the largest gith any have seen short of a duthka'gith. Ar'dru, in fact, scarcely measures up, and certainly can't compare in pure muscle size. In addition to the plant and the spear, he has a strange weapon wrapped around him. Three long ropes connect two stout wooden hafts with wicked heads shaped like four-way picks. The heads seem to be carved from massive pieces of chitin.

In the big gith's shadow is one that seems unremarkable compared to the rest. He is wearing sand-colored robes, and in addition to the spear, he has a large quiver on his back with three javelins with flights like big arrows. His plant is a large succulent [DM: like an aloe plant ]

"Your metal coins serve better purposes elsewhere. Do you refuse our gift, gith?"

"I'm just saying we don't normally take trade goods, but I can se your ... uh... plant ... is of highest quality."
the bartender stammers,"Worth a round or two from the bar for a lady and her entourage. What'll it be?"

"Water."

[ooc- given they're from Athas how do they react to half dragons? wouldn't Ar'dru kind of look like a level 23 dragon?]

Initially, maybe, but they've been in Sigil awhile, cultural attire not withstanding, so they know the score.

Besides, who's ever SEEN a lvl 23 dragon anyway? And there are plenty of reptilian races on Athas.

But yea, they still get more freaked at the word 'Dragon' than other gith.

Ooo...what Jhank'kor would do for a simple create water spell. Laughing out loud

Knowledge(history): 29

I figure he might know something of this transaction and whatnot. He wasn't always a vagrant--which reminds me, I need to flesh his background out pre-Git'riban...

Jhank'kor straightens up at the lady's entrance, though he remains inconspicuous as a tattered cloaked, elegantly robed figure with a 'flayer staff can be in a pretty open pub.

OOC-how ironic that his cloak is tattered and ratty, but his robe are a fine quality...clues, clues everywhere; too bad this one he tries to hide by pulling the cloak tight. Eye-wink

The Rish-i-Chal crosses his arms, getting far too used to brushing off the chal’s demands.

“No. A private room in Haven Port is what we agreed on, and what we’ll do. This whole building is shielded from divinations, and we’ll pay for a room that’s safe from eavesdropping.”

As they are joined at the bar by the gith carrying numerous blades, Du’minh raises his glass to him in turn with a respectful nod.

“You fought well earlier today, warrior. Here’s to the thrill of battle.”

OOC:
Though out-of-game I’m curious to see how Jhank’kor lives, Du’minh doesn’t trust him. Besides, there’s lots of interesting NPCs here… I’m sure Jhank’kor has a particular one in mind, as well. Eye-wink

The chal snickers at Du'minh's predictable response. "If you did everything you said, I'm half surprised you haven't been peeled for the apparent idiocy of your statements."

Before the Rish can step into a tirade, the chal turns back to Vivec, who carries the head, and says, "Besides, the Ghaik House will know Sight's dead...and have a notion who killed him...who says we can throw enough jink over what they'll dump out of their coffers to collect our heads?"

He says this last thing with a fatal calm, leaning deeply on the quadrant of barbs on the top of his staff.

Bluff: 22
Intimidate: 28 To me, this is Gith diplomacy...and not all intimidation comes through rampaging. Say hello to Mr. Freeze Laughing out loud
Sense Motive: 13 He's not naive enough to not watch his group...

Odd to use Intimidate for in-party stuff, but I felt it was applicable here...it'll tick off the regulars and appall the neutrals. About all he figured he would accomplish. lol

Du’minh simply sighs at Jhank’kor’s childish demeanour and responds in turn.

“No surprises that you are a man who breaks deals all the time, chal. Dishonour is death of the spirit.”

The warrior starts idly flicking chain links from his flail between his fingers, ready to put them to use. Though the links are sharp and slightly jagged, resembling curled dragon wyrms, his fingers remain unharmed. This seems to be something the Rish-i-Chal does quite often, a hint of his close connection to the Arbiter.

“Idiocy comes from placing trust where there is none. You think your kip makes you safe from a price on your head? I would rather choose the battlefield as here where I know the terrain and battle-brothers abound, than at whatever hole you nest up in.”

OOC:
No tirade, ey? Sneaking in provocation to Du’minh without ample response is a lost cause. Laughing out loud

Touche Eye-wink

"Odd to assume such statements--dishonor falls to the foolish (and fools assume, yank). What I have spoken is wiser than sitting in the middle of a battlefield to have a drink--and saves you jink to waste elsewhere."

The chal sips water from a dull flask, whispering to himself as the vial is level to his lips. "Do not count terrain and 'brothers' your salvation...they break as good as any sword, cub."

“So do spells, mage. Take my word for it.”

Du’minh smiles knowingly with a glimpse of the power of his craft flickering in his eyes, but the Rish seems to be at ease.

“Be that as it may, I stand by our agreement. This is a well-defended location that was instrumental in battling the ghaiks this morning, and if battle should erupt... Do not worry, I will defend any crutch-supported chals on my side.”

The last part is said with a subtle wink as Jhank’kor supports his weight against the staff.

"You just might want to, as this one might spare your life when your toys fail you." Jhank'kor reveals part of his teeth with a smirk, a more sinister knowledge flashing like a dying comet across his gaze as a harbinger of doom. He pokes a forefinger absently into the satchel next to him before laying his right palm softly upon the bag.

Du’minh chuckles and empties his drink, then signals to an innkeeper. Keeping his voice low and discreet, he procures for one of the best safe-rooms of Haven Port.

“… Walls that not even a grimlock can hear through, not a soul loitering around the door. If you can manage that, there’ll be extra jink to buy you plenty of fertilizer for your new plants.”

Obsidian Orb passes her water to the matronly gith in blue for a few moments before bringing it to her lips. She then turns toward the party and gives a little bow with arms outstreched.

"The Black Spear Clan extends respect to the Yanki Clan. Your people are fine warriors by all accounts. The battle in the streets this morning confirms your clan's power and already the winds bring to my ears tales of Yanki Clan victory over your enemies. Though I know little about these ... flayers of minds. These creatures are unknown in my homeworld, though many things even deadlier stalk the wastes of Athas."

"You were in the fight in the ruin this morning, were you not?"
She addresses no one in particular.

Du’minh is slightly surprised to learn of the participation of the Black Spear Clan, remembering only Bone Clan warriors. For good measure, he gives a careful scan-over of all the Athasians, particularly Obsidian Orb and the ash-robed gith with the gem-tipped staff.

“Indeed we were… Obsidian Orb, is it not? I do not recall your people at the ruins, but the fight was hectic and chaotic to say the least. I was preoccupied bringing down the building on the Great Enemy, so I may have missed you and your kinsmen if you had been fighting in the lot.”

“I am Du’minh of the Rish-i-Chal, and it is an honour to meet an Athasian Chieftain. I am sure the others would like to introduce themselves.”

It takes a moment before Du’minh actually registers that Obsidian Orb just spoke of the Black Spears’ lacking knowledge of the illithids. Deadly serious he sets to put things into perspective for her, as a true githyanki would:

“Mind flayers, illithids, ghaiks… The Foe Eternal is known by many names, but know this: Words do not do justice to the animosity they are deserving of. No githyanki, Astral or Athasian, should remain unknowing of the sheer wickedness that is the Tentacled Ones.”

“They have raped our minds, they have twisted our bodies – they have forever left their horrible mark on the People. They shall know only pain and death, a million times over, their sick and gruesome lairs crushed forevermore, wherever they may hide throughout the multiverse!”

Realizing he is getting himself worked up, Du’minh takes a deep breath to subdue his rage and eventually regains a calm and respectful composure to the Athasians.

“Forgive my outburst, Mistress. Any githyanki with an honourable heart will tell you the truth about the Enslavers. They are eternal enemies to all githyanki-kind, and I would strongly implore you to learn more when you are able to.”
