"Who controls this facility? And what is its real purpose?" The questions echo in the silvery void as Ar'dru stalks down the corridor.

"Here comes Meathook"
Ar'dru sees an illithid moving down the catwalk toward his position, carrying the wicked-looking polearm. As it gets closer, Ar'dru sees that it has a severe scar on the left side of its head, as if it survived an attack by a sword-wielding opponent who did not quite cleave the illithid's skull.
[edited]
While not exactly a model of Githyanki bravery herself, Ya'shenn finds herself gritting her teeth at the extreme cowardice displayed by this particular illithid. Even another brain-sucking ghaik might well be disgusted by this one...
While she wants very much to skewer this ghaik on the spot, the almost certainly enchanted shield is making that problematic, particularly for a relatively inexperienced swordsgith like Ya'shenn. The psion attempts to forcibly separate the tower shield from the illithid's grip, intending to send it across the vault with a clatter.

"The food supply of Illithid House? What does that have to do with anything? Yes, we often send the best cuts of meat from here to the illithid, they eat things other than brains you know, but that is the limit of our involvement. The illithid by and large find eating unintelligent beast-brains revolting, hence why that is our punishment. Our own food supply is herded in here every day."
"If you mean 'who supplies humanoid brains to Illithid House?' then I must admit I do not know. I guess Will is ultimately in charge of obtaining material resources, including food, but I am not privy to the ways and means by which it happens. Or rather my knowledge is limited to those few who were able to provide for my ... special tastes."
Ar'dru notices that Bliss has not mentioned, even once, that there is a portal nexus here. Whatever other reasons the illithid have for running the Packing House, the portals alone are sufficient reason for them to maintain control of this building.

Brand new combat, so roll again.
The illithid coming toward Ar'dru is an impressive specimen. Perhaps the tadpole's original host was large and muscular, perhaps the illithid worked out. Either way, unlike Pigkiller, this illithid remains robust, Ar'dru surmises it has not been in the Packing House very long.
Meathook has a scar on the left side of its head. Ar'dru, familiar with the wounds that battle can cause, thinks it looks like a githwarrior armed with a sword had tried to cleave the illithid's skull. Somehow, the illithid managed to survive.
The illithid stops and gets into a ready stance when it catches sight of Ar'dru. It looks him up and down, slight confusion in its eyes, "Y... you! You m... must be the w... wierdest gi... githy... githyyy... Yanki I ever saw. W... what are you, a haa... halfbreed or ss... something? Well, whatever you are, I'm gonna k... k... k... Hive Brothel Vaults
Ii, half blinded by the illithid's mental attack, swings at Lavendar's unprotected head, but the monster is too quck and ducks behind the huge golden shield. Ii continues her savage attack, but cannot seem to get at the ghaik behind the magical shield.
Ya'shenn, braving the knight's deadly swings, rushes in and grabs one edge of the shield. She pulls it up and away, hoping her timing is right and that she can pull the shield aside before Ii rains down another blow. Lavendar resists, but Ya'shenn has luck on her side, and manages to pull the shield up, revealing the illithid.
Ii smiles and stabs down. Lavendar is quick though, quicker than most illithid, and puts up an arm to defend itself. Ii's blade plunges through the illithid's forearm and glances off its collarbone.
[only 2nd attack was successful, but now the illithid is prone and no longer using the shield. Also, last in initiative order, so Ii can attack again. Ya'shenn can keep holding the shield out of the way, and/or try something else too.]
Ii'Jyka greets Ya'shenns efforts with enthusiastic glee, and tries to hammer the Illithid to paste..sparing its head the handy work, so it can be used as a trophy.. "thank you, Sister"
Trying to avoid its head, she plows unintentionally into the stonework... sparks fly all round and the blade scatters across the floor, and bounces of the wall to come to a halt behind Ya'shenn.
Ii'Jyka'Vaar does not wait for her own recovery and instead lunges for the illithid with her bare hands...
She claws Lavender with her hands and where she hits him, she leaves not just bruises, but also black singes as if the skin burns under her touch...

[DM-Ya'shenn has initiative, so when Z. posts, she can jump in at any point along the chain of events, even before the tenticles hit. The shield is no longer a factor, since Ii is well inside the illithid's guard, and is in fact probably kneeling on top of it.]

Yea, tenticle is too slippery, I guess.
Ya'shenn, acting quickly, tries to grab one of Lavendar's tenticles away from Ii'jyka'vaar's head. The illithid is fast, however, faster than any illithid either of them have ever seen.
[DM - 'thid + rogue levels, 18 dex]
Three of Lavendar's tenticles latch on to Ii's skull, despite the severe beating she gives the illithid for its trouble. And the beating is severe, for now the mind flayer is bruised, battered, frost-bitten, and has had its forearm skewered, a wound which is still bleeding profusely. Still, the illithid is not dead, it's tenticles grope Ii's head, and it tries to fend off her blows with its flailing arms.
[Ii and Ya'shenn get attacks, then opposed grapple on Ii, +6 for 3 tenticles on. That is, if the illithid survives until its turn]

Ii'jyka'vaar continues to smash the illithid in the side of the head with her morningstar. Ya'shenn, standing aside and watching the battle so as not to inadvertantly get hit, is amazed at how effective Ii is in the tight confines of the vault and with an illithid literally hanging from her face. Lavendar is not faring well against the knight at all, and lets go, collapsing to the floor.
"Ssss... savages. Zealots. You are unbribable, aren't you? No, there is nothing I could offer you to spare my life, is there?"
The metal weapons in the vault seem more polished and sparkling, especially the gold and bejeweled accents. Everything seems prettier, more aluring. Ii notices the key ring with keys to the other vaults is now lying on the floor. The treasure accumulated by Lavendar is hers for the taking.
[Suggestion. The plea to "spare my life" would really go nowhere with a githyanki, though Lavendar is hoping it gets at least a hesitation. The "offer you" part might get some traction, though. Basicly Lavendar is hoping that Ii will now be concerned with trying to loot the vaults, and subsequently be unprepared for a counter-attack by its thralls and possibly weighed down with swag. This is all in-character of course, the DM will not require you to go looting, you'll have to decide for youself if Ii heeds the suggestion, and how.]
The Packing House
Ar'dru charges Meathook, but the tamer is much more proficient than he expects. The illithid stops him in his tracks with the polearm, then quickly uses the hook to snag the duthka'gith's leg and pull it out from under him.
[Meathook's AoO disrupts Ar'dru's grapple attempt. Instead of doing extra damage with the crit, Meathook is attempting a trip. I know this isn't exactly by-the-book, so speak up if you have a problem with it and would rather take the damage (3x with a glaive). Meathook still gets his own turn too, but its actions will depend on whether Ar'dru gets tripped or not. Opposed roll with a +8 mod (your strenth)]

She says to Lavender; "I might be in the persuasion not to kill you this moment right now, but why would i let you live much longer than that?, you know as an Illithid, we Gith have a hatred for your species...or did u forget that?..."

Hive Brothel Vaults
"No you've no love for my kind, child of Gith," Lavender sneers, "and you'll not let me live will you? Still, I have much to barter, and so little to ask in return. You githyanki have discovered who was in charge of this little opperation, and you're probably all proud of yourselves, yes? But did you know I have portals to other rooms in Illithid House? It's true. You can go and slay others of my kind if you wish. I'll even show you where the portals are and tell you their keys, how's that? Surely worth a few more moments of life? There is also so much treasure here for the taking, you need only reach out your hands and take it." Lavendar holds up the key ring it used to unlock the vault. There are several keys of various types on it. Ii feels the compulsion to loot the vaults forthwith.
"All I want in return is that you do not make my death quick. Hss hss hss." Lavendar chuckles, "I am a Factotum, you see, in the Society of Sensation. Most of my associates are Sensate namers. You have no concept, gith, of the debauchery I have perpetrated, the experiences I have plucked from the minds of others, the... well, I doubt you can understand this, but if I am to die, I want my last moments to be an experience. I have experienced, through sensory link, torture, vivisection, even execution, but my own death, now that is something else. Make it spectacular, githyanki. My greatest regret is that my mind will not survive to pass my experiences on to others. Still, if I am to die, I want to savor it!"
Ya'shenn fights off a brief impulse to actually plant the sword in the knight's back, first for the entirely unnecessary delay in Ii'Jyka'Vaar demanding that this particular ghaik be her own kill, then taking so incredibly long to actually do it, while the second illithid is undoubtedly mustering thralls against them at this very moment. And why force her to fetch the cursed blade while the knight is still armed? Many githyanki would slay the Enemy with whatever weapon they had to hand, rather than making such excessive drawn-out theater out of it.
Once she feels she has some control over her anger, Ya'shenn reaches down to grasp the fallen sword. She keeps an eye on the ghaik as she does so, wary of an attack. Though not particularly learned in the Arcane, the psion has heard tales of a few knights wielding blades imbued with enchantments of the 'smite the wicked' variety, and grimly hopes that this one is not one of them.
A psion herself, it's a little too easy for Ya'shenn to imagine what the inside of Lavendar's mind must be like. At least the entirely proper surge of loathing she feels for the illithid keeps her mind distracted from her considerable annoyance toward the knight.
"The ghaik seeks to gain time for the second illithid, Violet, by delaying you." The psion's voice is cool, seemingly calm, but there is a slight edge to it, one that Ii'Jyka'Vaar (and the absent half-dragon) have heard before, earlier this morning. While not over-loud, Ya'shenn pitches her voice to be audible to the other giths in the room. "Even now the second ghaik is undoubtedly making its preparations to attack. Best to put down this... thing quickly and have done." She places the hilt of the nagamaki into the knight's hand.

"Right, Granted!" Ii'Jyka says, and with that steps with one foot on the shin of the Illithid so he cannot retract with spasms...
Drops the morningstar (away from the Illithid itself) behind her and grips the Nagamaki with 2 hands and grimaces slightly at what she is about to do, as she is an efficient soldier, but killing a person in detail is not something she has done oft...if ever..
She puts the weapons point in his groin and looks at him: "Brace... ...o f*ck it..."
and with that she stabs the weapon through his groin, and slightly upward into his belly, proceeding upward (presuming the heart is on the left side of their chest) cutting smoothly through his/ its body not to slow, but with enough patience to give him his satisfaction of experience, but not taking more time then is needed... "Lavender, we might speak again after this, she whispers.."

Meathook snags Ar'dru's leg with the steel hook and pulls it from under him, upending the duthka'gith. Ar'dru, however, has the inate ability to levitate at will. He catches the banister of the catwalk and vaults up onto it without missing a beat. Meathook hisses in anger and spins the polearm over its head. Ar'dru misses getting the hook in the side of his head by a mere inch.
Hive Brothel Vaults
Ii'jyka'vaar puts Lavendar cruely to death. The most disturbing thing by far is that the illithid seems almost to enjoy it. It even dips its hand in the dark purple blood and brings it to its mouth to taste it ...
There is a noise in the hallway outside. The door bursts open, and a strange creature enters. It is the size of a large dog, or rather the size of a very large constrictor snake, for it is serpentine. There is a metal collar just behind its head, attached to a chain. Being dragged behind is a hobgoblin thrall, his shoulder dislocated by the powerful creature. More thralls are chasing after it.
Four long tenticles emerge from the creature's mouth, wrapping around the doorframe as it pulls itself into the chamber. It surveys the gathered githyanki, and all feel a piercing pain in their heads. Ya'shenn alone realizes that the creature is trying to communicate with them ... with qualith! The rest simply detect a string of emotions ...
~Wonder about what is happening ...

The psion's face turns distinctly green as Ii'Jyka'Vaar puts down the illithid in... that way. For a few moments, Ya'shenn looks as though she's going to vomit for the second time in less than twenty-four hours. Then the thing enters the room. The psion's mind and stomach manage, somehow, to hold up in spite of the thing's appearance and telepathic emanations.Ya'shenn decides quickly that, first, Violet counts as illithidae, even if it is not exactly a typical adult illithid. Second, based on what it had espered, it seems to be an immature member of its kind. Third, she doesn't particularly want to make friends with it."Hello, Violet," the psion mutters aloud. She uses her now-free hand, that had just handed off the nagamaki to the knight, to draw a sort of crystal wand -- though it is not the same dorje that the Tamers had provided the night before. The Double-Edged focuses her mind and projects a single thought into the dorje: ~Unbind.[Area of effect Negate Psionics on as many hobgoblins as she can target without also targeting Gy-Nath or herself. A grimace of revulsion cuts across Du’minh’s face at the sight of the serpentine being - the depths of illithid monstrosity are truly endless. Instinctively he falls into a defensive stance with his freshly blood-stained flail kept in motion of wide swings for deterring a sudden assault.
“Brethren… Know any of you what manner of beast this is?”
Violet’s macabre nature keeps him cautious and so the Rish-I-Chal does not leap into the fray just yet. Taking a cue from Ya’shenn’s swift actions, however, he banishes hesitation and takes the initiative.
Rather than fly in the face of the monster, he scavenges a magic weapon from among the slain hobgoblins (guided by his auravision), and throws it with force at the monster. If possible, he also puts himself in position to cut it off from engaging Daraz on the ground and Ya’shenn at the Vault.
OOC
Du’minh will preferably throw a magic spear at Violet if such is among the dead guards, or at least something designed to be thrown.
The Packing House
Ar'dru rushes forward once again, but Meathook is too skilled with his polearm, fending him off once more. This time, instead of trying to hook and trip Ar'dru, the tamer spins the polearm and whacks him on the side of the head.
Ar'dru is stunned for a moment, and Meathook thrusts again with the butt of the polearm, hitting him in the face.

[Dealing subdual damage - AoO successful - 10 dam, Regular Attack successful too, 10 dam]
Ya'shenn aims the dorje at Violet, and the thralls following the creature stop in their tracks. Their looks of fanaticism are replaced by fear and revulsion. Many look at each other in utter confusion, but none want to get too close to Violet. The fact that the serpentine creature is just inside the room means that none now dare enter. That is, except the one thrall whose arm is still tangled in Violet's 'leash'. He too would try to escape if he could, and since Violet is no longer dragging him along, he is now franticly trying to untangle himself, though the dislocated shoulder complicates his efforts greatly.
Du'minh casts about for a throwing weapon, quickly seeing a wicked-looking spear just inside the vault. He rushes up and grabs it ... [Make an attack roll if you want to throw it at Violet]

Ya'shenn speaks to the graith directly. "You who were once thralls! Your foul masters no longer command you. Now go, or else take up arms against your enslavers." She rather doubts the latter, but the People were once mind-slaves themselves, and she's willing to give the hobgoblins that option. "Choose quickly."
Daraz might notice a certain quality to Ya'shenn's voice, much like the manner in which she had spoken to the hobgoblin she had psionically dominated. The psion does not actually make use of her powers of suggestion, however. This time.

"We're making a better world. All of them, better worlds." - Anonomous Harmonium Officer
Accrding to my calculations, Ar'dru is at exactly -1hp with that last smack in the face, HOWEVER after some reconsideration and hearty discussion between EvilDM and NiceDM, we have decided that the subdual damage done by that very first hobgob club in the Brothel (5hp) should have been canceled out when Ar'dru was resting at Lind's. Therefore Ar'dru's hp still stand at 4, giving him about 1 round of fight left in him.
The Hive Brothel Vaults
At Ya'shenn's words, many of the hobgoblins hesitate and look at each other. A lifetime of conditioning is hard to overcome, and if it were Lavendar they were backing up, the githyanki's words would have probably fallen on deaf ears. However, it is obvious from their body language that the guards consider Violet a monster, and none will willingly enter the room with it, much less fight on its behalf, now that it can no longer compell them to do so.
Violet surges down the stairs toward the githyanki, pulling the guard entangled in its chain along with it. Du'minh snatches up a spear from the vault and thows it at the monster. There is a blue-white flash as it streaks through the air and connects with Violet's slime-slick coils. The creature lets out an air-rending screech when the spear hits and imbeds itself in its hide. Violet grabs the spear's haft with a tenticle and pulls it out, flinging it to the side. It heads straight for Du'minh, but stops short before entering melee range and lets forth a gout of black liquid from its mouth...
[DC 22 reflex save for half damage = 16 or 32 full dam]
EDIT: Daraz tries to stab at Violet as it rushes forward, but fais to penetrate its slick, leathery hide.
"Well, I cannot fault your logic. In fact I agree. We are lothesome creatures whose mere existance causes pain and torment among lesser races. Still, I am somewhat biased in my own favor, since I myself am a monster, and have no desire to be killed by you, quickly or not." The telepathy echoes across the silver expanse of Ar'dru's mind. He cannot discern the direction of its origin. "Neither do I have any desire to kill you, warrior. Believe it or do not, but I am Bliss, and I have never consumed the brain of a sentient that was not willing. This was my crime and my perversion, I could not abide the taste of fear and urge for survival from unwilling victims and refused to consume them. True, there are ways of getting a thrall to beg for death, but torture makes the brain somewhat gamey." An involuntary chill runs down Ar'dru's spine when he realizes he is in contact with what is probably the closest an illithid can ever get to a moral, peaceful being, yet it still mentions torture so severe as to make someone beg for death like it was part of a recipee.
"Yet your offer intrigues me. I have little desire to watch my kin get slaughtered by you, no mater how lothesome they are. However, since I have a better chance of escaping intact myself the more of them you fight before coming to me, I graciously accept."
"Meathook saw your actions down at the doors, saw you come into the sheds, and is heading your way on the second-level catwalks. Meathook is an ex-tamer, and is quite proficient with its hooked glaive. Simpleton."
