Looks like Mr. Smelly-Goat isn't going to cooperate, so I think we just ought to off him and move on.

[DM - Actually closer to Ii and Gy, since Du'minh ran past in pursuit of Mr. Love, but the Satyr's song could have held them as D. came back. As a Rish-i-chal he might have been more resistant to its effects (this is just the DM fiating, since Dun posted first.)]

Du'minh smashes the pipes out of the satyr's mouth, taking half a tooth and two fingers with it. The satyr bleats and pulls a spring-loaded dagger [switchblade] out of a back pocket and lunges forward. The fearless fanaticism in his eyes when confronted by githwarriors, in spite of being armed with only a six-inch shiv unable to penetrate their armor, tells the githyanki that this satyr's mind has been well-flayed.

QUICK NOTE ON TIME:

Ya'shenn & Daraz are 5-10 minutes ahead of Ar'dru, who is about 5-10 minutes ahead of Ii, Du, & Gy.

There is a question of getting the party back together. The duo & trio should have little problem doing so. Solo Ar'dru has a bit more of a problem. To get to where the rest of the party is, he'd have to cut and burn his way through half the brothel.

Ardru's options:
1)Cut & burn his way through half the brothel.
2)Head to the Packing House and back-track, emerging from the vault-portals to hook up with Daraz & Ya'shenn.
3)Something else I haven't thought of.

Assuming that there are no immediate obstacles Ar'dru busies himself arranging the furniture and detritus in the brothel into optimal positions (kindling near wooden beams, etc) and then sets the place alight. He uses a flask or two of oil if it seems necessary.

The orc first crawls, then stumbles, away. Greenskirts run to and fro, gathering up meager stashes from their shanties before Ar'dru sets them alight. Strangely, no guards appear at first, perhaps they are busy putting out the fires he already set.

The greenskirts are neither foolish nor suicidal enough to confront nor hinder the duthka'gith warrior. Or so it seems, until one lone whore jumps Ar'dru while his back is turned. She jumps on his back and cuts his neck with a broken bottle. Her ferocity surprizes the half-dragon. She is bald with a bandana over her head, which slips during the melee. Ar'dru sees, at the distance of a few inches, that she bears an illithid-made mind-mark on her temple.

Ar'dru shrugs off the mild irritant of the broken glass and swipes the woman away with a swing of his blade. As the death throes set in he pauses to watch the body for a moment reflecting on the horriffic nature of thralldom. Sighing he severs the womans head, taking care to leave the mind mark untouched and places the head in his bag.

With that taken care of Ar'dru finishes arranging the demolition and sets the place ablaze before taking to the air and heading for the packing house (assuming nothing else happens here).

[Not presumptios at all, really. She's dead. However the DM isn't letting you off the hook that easily. Besides, you still have to throw the two Thunderblasts to signal the others' attack.]

The area around Ar'dru and his firey trail of destruction clears out fairly quickly. The greenskirts, the unenthralled ones anyway, are unwilling to face or deter him. However, that does not mean security has been totally defeated. Small groups of guards shove their way through the fleeing crowd and rush at Ar'dru. They come in groups of two to three, trying to flank him. The duthka'gith warrior deals with the unarmored hobgoblins handily, but he notices something strange. They come at him in small, easily dispatched groups, while he can see that a larger brace of guards is hanging back, only sending in a couple at a time. Ar'dru's tactical sense tells him they are trying to keep him busy and distracted, and he soon discovers why.

Ar'dru cuts down an onrushing guard and takes off, when suddenly, a well-aimed arrow finds an unarmored spot on his back. He sees the drow from before, in the midst of several protecting guards, armed with a bow. She dips an arrow into a small ceramic jar before notching it and aiming again at Ar'dru. From this, and the spreading cold coming from the would she just dealt him, he realizes her arrows are poisoned.

Ii'jyka'vaar proceeds to cut the uncooperative satyr to pieces, literally, hacking off an arm at the shoulder then stabbing him through the torso.

Gy-Nath seeing the situation is well in hand, concentrates instead on sowing fear in the greenskirts. Although most are following the lead of the the greenskirt Ii told to get herself to safety, there are a few, either slower on the uptake or slower on their feet, who stand watching, stunned, instead of fleeing. Gy-Nath deftly beheads one of the dead guards and throws the bloody head at a greenskirt.

"Such is the fate of all who stand against us!" he yells, "Spread the word, barbarian cowards, the children of Gith have come and death is in their wake!" He raises his sword and chases after a greenskirt for about three paces, but does not bother slaying her, for the panic is now well underway.

Gy-Nath turns back toward his companions, laughing. "Hahahaha! Come siblings, let us find these fools' masters."

“My flail is by your side, brother and sister! We have bled the first steps, yet more carnage awaits us down the path of gore and glory!”

Du’minh leads onwards, proceeding down the stairs and navigating away from the portal complex to get an overview of the situation in the brothel. He looks for any signs of Ar’dru’s fires and general sources of ruckus, but more importantly he looks for any buildings that might seem like a source of “central administration” in the brothel or otherwise indicate where the illithid puppeteers could be nested.

Ya'shenn gazes down at her new 'pet,' thinking. "I am changing your instructions. You will guard this door no longer. Gather up as many hobgoblin guards and greenskirts as you can readily find. A group of Clueless adventurers attacked the building, but has fled deep into the Hive. You are to pursue them there and search for the following: A human male with yellow hair and a tattoo on his left cheek, wearing leather armor and wielding a longsword. A half-elven female with red hair in mage's robes, carrying a large staff tipped with silver. A bald dwarven male with a long scar across his face, wielding a mace, armored and bearing a shield. If closely questioned, you have orders from above. Under no circumstance will you reveal the existence of either myself or my ally."

The psion looks over toward the greenskirt. "You will leave this place and encourage other greenskirts and customers to do the same. The building has been attacked by foolish but powerful Clueless and you are frightened. Once you are a long distance from this place, you will feel more hope than you ever have before in your entire life, and you will give serious consideration to taking up a more honorable profession. Under no circumstance will you reveal the existence of either myself or my ally."

[If there is an issue of timing, Ya'shenn will instruct them to wait until she estimates that chaos will have broken out in the brothel already, so as to be concurrent with the actions of the other githyanki.]

Ar'Dru shakes off the chilling sensation (and the arrow, which fortunately didn't penetrate too deeply apparantly) and lobs a thunderbolt towards the mass of guards before ducking behind cover to avoid further missile fire. If possible he makes his way through the burning building towards the drows' position.

(downstairs)

Ya'shenn's 'pets' follow her instructions to the letter, hiding the bodies before leaving the room. The greenskirt even cheerfully mops up the pools of blood, which luckily are small since two of the guards died via force trauma.

(upstairs)

Ar'dru lights and tosses one of the thunderblast flasks into the midst of the guards. It detonates in a white flash, which produces a sound so loud that Ar'dru, who had been expecting it, is taken aback. His ears ring for several minutes, and through the white noise in his head, he hears the echoes of the blast circle the entirety of Sigil three times! Few of the guards in the vicinity of the blast are still upright, and those that are cup their bleeding ears, including the drow archer.

[DM- Yea, look at the area of effect and base damage on that thing again. That little half-dragon kobold's alchemical skills are top-shelf.]

(downstairs)

Ya'shenn, in the guise of the Ms. Lythe the drow, and Daraz, disguised as the tiefer Mr Love [he'd have to bathe in perfume to pull off the satyr] move deeper into the inner chambers. They are almost to the vaults and the portals there, when they hear a loud noise from above, and dust falls from the cieling. Shortly thereafter, there is the sound of scrambing feet, and they see Mr. Gray (a barghest who dresses in tight leather), leading a group of half a dozen guards down the hall. He pauses only for a quick word.

"Hey! Didn't y'two hear that? I'm a-headin' upstairs, maybe another brawl, eh? You want in, Lythe? Ya might have a chance to stick somebody, and I know ya like that. C'mon an' have some fun wit ME" He looks at her companion "Mr. Love", up and down, and gives him a sneer, before herding the hobgoblin guards onward.

[DM - Take 10 on Sense motive = The barghest doesn't like Mr. Love, he thinks he's a fop and a pansy. He especially doesn't like that Ms. Lythe seems to prefer Mr. Love's company over his own.]

Satisfied that the brothels guards are well and truly 'distracted' and that any easy way into the building is blocked by milling guards Ar'dru decides to head off to the packing house and rendevous with the rest of the group there.

If possible he lets the guards see him enter the burning building and exits on a side facing away from the pursuit, otherwise he just flies off as quickly as possible and tries to put something solid between himself and any missile fire.

(I'll throw the other thunder blast if necessary but it seems a bit redundant given all of the echoes and I wouldn't mind having a spare on hand. If I do need to throw the 2 I'll aim for one of the exits from the main building to try to stun any oncoming guards before making good my escape)

Lythe-Ya'shenn makes a concerted effort to keep her surface thoughts more or less like what those of the original drow female might be. Just in case. It's difficult, under the circumstances.

She makes a show of looking up toward the ceiling, frowning. "Hey, I just saw this drunken Clueless mage and a couple of other berks just a little while ago." She briefly describes the 'other berks,' the non-existent human and dwarf. "They were mad about their bill or something. I bet it's them."

Lythe-Ya'shenn fictitiously places them in an area of the brothel that should take the barghest and his merry band of thralls far from the paths of either the githyanki or the half-dragon. "Nothin' too bad, but you and your boys here need to go there right away. I'll take care of things down here and join you later."

[He's getting a generous helping of suggestion, too, DC 18 +/- modifiers, if not quite the kind he's hoping for. She's trying to get these guards out of the way so that the others don't have to dull their weapons or pull a muscle taking them out. Eye-wink I'll be happy to throw in a Bluff as well if the suggestion doesn't take.]

Flight

Once Ar'dru is sure any pursuit is left far behind, he circles around and heads out of the Hive Ward. Behind him is a faint flicker and a line of smoke rising from the center of the Marble District. He lands just short of the Mortuary for awhile to elude a large flock of vargouilles, before taking wing again at the Ditch.

Flying over the Lower Ward is difficult. Unpredictable thermals are the rule, and visibility is poor. Ar'dru lands in a wide street to rest awhile. The injuries he sustained in the Hive Brothel were not great, but they weren't few either. He checks himself over and realizes the tip of the drow's arrow is stuck in a joint in his armor, and continues to cut him.

[Looking at the drow's to-hit I realized she rolled a 20. 1 extra hp damage only (so far), but risking re-poisoning.]

Ar'dru marches forward, the arrow wound completely numb. He is unable to get the arrowhead out by himself without carefully removing his armor. He looks around and realizes he is on Newgate Road, not far from Lind's

Assault

Du'minh, Ii'Jyka'Vaar, and Gy-Nath head down the stairs toward the lower chambers. There is a slight smell of smoke in the air, and few guards. Ii notices a pair of dead hobgoblins, their bodies stashed undeneath the bottom stairs.

The githyanki warriors encounter a pair of living guards in the first of the cellars.

[DM - To make it easy, and because the DM is lazy, all the lower chambers are basicly the same. A large room with its entrances about a dozen feet above floor-level, with four to six sunken side-chambers. Main chambers varry, but are about 40-80 feet to a side. Side chambers are 10x10.
The large chambers are connected to each other by several hallways. Thus Ya'shenn and Daraz can avoid entering any other chambers until the vaults. The vaults are just like all the other chambers, except four of the six sunken side-chambers have heavy metal doors.]

As the trio enter the open archway of the first of the lower chambers, they see two hobgoblins on the balcony opposite their own, guarding a heavy wooden door.

Ambush

Mr. Grey nods to Lythe-Ya'shenn and hustles his hobgoblins onward. She and Love-Daraz move quickly towards the vaults. They encounter pairs of guards watching over the entrances to each of the chambers, but none challenge them in their guises.

The vaults are a chamber like the others, save that four of the side-cellars have locked iron doors. The other two are yawning portals. Close examination reveals that they are active, and from Grazz's intel, they know one leads to the Packing House, the other to an Undersigil lair connected to The Den (one of Illithid House's major hubs). The portal key for the first is a purse made from an animal's ear, the key to the second is a necklance or amulet with a single unpolished amethyst. (Ya'shenn, knowing this, aquired the former at a keyshop on the way here).

In the open side-cellars, on the walls, are iron rings, chains, and empty manacles.

There are no guards here, as the portals lead into Illithid House and there is no need to restrict access to the Hive Brothel in this direction. One presumes that if there were a shipment of slaves to be sent through, they'd be guarded, but for now the place is empty.

When the trio enters the first of the lower chambers, the Rish quickly focuses in on the guards on the far balcony and the door behind them for any trace of the Art. If the giths haven’t drawn attention yet, he quickly steps back just in cover by the frame from which they entered and whispers softly:

“If there are signs that these guards aren’t wholly enthralled, I suggest we leave them alive enough to be able to talk. Anything we can learn about the complex and those in it could come in handy.”

By the time he reaches Lind's shop, Ar'dru's vision is black around the edges and his head is swimming. He bangs on the door, but looses conciousness before anone answers ...

Ar'dru awakens on Lind's couch, his armor on the floor beside him, mostly. There is a reptillian being Ar'dru does not recognize yanking the arrowhead out of the back of the shoulder-joint with a metal pliers. For an outsider to touch githyanki-made armor is a grave taboo, but Ar'dru is expertly bandaged, including a strange-smelling ointment benieth the bandages on his arrow wound. Before he can say anything, the draconic being notices that the dutka'gith is awake.

"Ha! You're made of some stern stuff, cousin. Didn't expect you to open your eyes this soon." He yanks the arrowhead out of the armor's joint, far too roughly for Ar'dru's taste. He examines the arrowhead a moment, sniffing it and lightly touching it to his tounge. "Ah! Just as I suspected, blue whinnis fungus. Have a run-in with somebody from the underdark tonight?"

Seeing that Ar'dru is scowling at him angrily, the draconian looks back seriously for a moment ... but only for a moment, before once again smiling a big, toothy grin. "Well, anyway, you can call me Kaz. Mistress Lind has been informed that she has a visitor. I'm sure she'll be up as soon as she can pull herself away from her workbench without her project falling apart. Unless of course she really doesn't care, in which case she won't. Ha!"

The draconian has coppery-brown scales, whiskers, and a mane of dark hair which is long in the back and pulled into a pony-tail. He is dressed in leathers and has a shoulder-strap with three dagger shieths down the front. Draped over the back of his chair is a belt with a shiethed shortsword, though as his senses return, Ar'dru notices that though the belt has one shieth, there are in fact two shortswords within it, a matched set designed to fit together side by side.

Seeing that the giths have been noticed, Du’minh wastes no time rushing across the room to close in before the guards decide on how to respond. He veers towards the hobgoblin furthest from the door, leaving room for Ii’Jyka’Vaar and Gy-Nath to spread out and likewise take them on. The warrior casts a glimpse towards side-chambers while passing, keeping aware of possible foul play.

"Hmmn? Oh, not long, not long, a few minutes only. Draconic blood is tough stuff. Heh, not like goblinoids. Which, by the smell of your blade, you've been bleeding plenty of tonight. Quite a shiv you've got there, cutter." Kaz stands and pours two tall glasses of water from a crystal decanter. He hands one off to Ar'dru.

"As for repayment and debts, don't you fuss cousin. What goes around comes around, and vice versa. You ever need a good poison or a good antidote, you come ask for Kaz, yea? We dragon-bloods need to keep our sharp eyes out for one another, that's the truth. Then again, jinx is jinx, and I sure do like me some jink." Ar'dru notices Kaz's own water becomes stained a dark purple-black as soon as it touches his mouth, "Ahh. But in any case, this time is all paid for. Lindorian says to treat you like family, so family you are."

The draconian watches Ar'dru re-equip himself with bemused interest. "Heh. Seems you're having a busy night, eh? Lind'll be disappointed you can't stick around, but I guess we've all got jobs to do." Kaz chuckles to himself and sits back down, putting his feet up and slouching with a long sigh. He grabs an apple off a silver tray beside him. Ar'dru notices a thin steam rise from the fruit as Kaz bites down. (munch munch) "Your backpack full of fire-flasks is by the door. Hey!" He holds up a small glass flask sealed with wax. "Take this, if you want, and let me know how it works. New concoction I haven't had a chance to try yet. Just don't let it break on anything, or any one, you want to keep around, see?"

Ya'shenn looks over at the 'tiefling,' really Daraz, and gestures toward the locked side-cellars with a question in her expression. She knows nothing of lockpicking, unless it involves psionically dominating a footpad beforehand.

[How close are the nearest guards? Are they likely to overhear if she and Daraz do any talking?]

The mentalist then reaches out cautiously with her psionic senses, attempting to determine whether Gy-Nath is in range, as well as whether or not he's in the middle of filleting some hapless thrall at the moment. If she is able to reach him, she sends,

~We are at the portals. At least two illithid are down here, along with four pimps [mental images of Mr. Green, Mr. Sharp, Mr. Muscle, and Ms. Slink] and an unknown number of guards. [If Ya'shenn has any updates to the information Grazz provided the group about this area, she sends them, particularly with regard to numbers and locations of guards.] After a moment, she adds, not sure if Gy-Nath knows this, ~I may be able to shatter the enthrallment on some of the slaves. More, if they cluster.

Ar'dru takes the flask with a smile and eyes it carefully before stowing it in his pack. "Thank you again my friend. I suspect that one of my allies or I will indeed be paying you a visit soon."

Ar'dru finishes his drink, a small cloud of steam rising from his mouth as the water hits his throat. before shouldering the rest of his gear and preparing to leave.

"I will pay my respects to our hostess before I leave if she has time to see me. You seem to be a being of honour Kaz and I would call you cousin, I look forward to speaking with you at a less turbulent time."

With that Ar'dru bows before discreetly cracking the door to Lind's workshop. If he believes that he will not break her concentration he enters the room and waits quietly for her to awknowledge him, otherwise he simply waits for a few moments, watching her work, before closing the door and continuing on his trip.

The Vaults

Ya'shenn reaches out and touches Gy-Nath's mind. There is a slight pause before she gets a return signal, a hazy image of the psion/warrior beheading a hobgoblin guard and throwing the severed and bloody head at a fleeing greenskirt.

"Excellent, sister. The attack is underway. We will be coming your way soon. Contact me again if you run into something you two cannot handle alone, and I will try to dimension-door to your position."

Quote:
[How close are the nearest guards? Are they likely to overhear if she and Daraz do any talking?]

[Guarding the closest chamber, so no, not near enough to hear you unless you make an effort to be loud.]

The Chambers

The hobgoblin guards notice the trio of warriors enter and rush across the room. They turn and move to intercept, but then stop in their tracks halfway down the stairways from their guarded door. They look at each other a moment, "Githyanki!" both tell each other in unison. Perhaps if their brains were not so ... abused, their decisions would come quicker, but as it is precious moments pass as the githyanki charge across the chamber, before one hobgoblin launches himself at the intruders while the other runs back up the steps and for the stout wooden door, yelling "Githyanki! Githyanki! Githyanki!"

Gy-Nath quips a short order "Troops, attacker! Shouter is mine!" He takes out a dagger and tosses it into the air, keeping his eyes trained on it. Before it even reaches the top of its arc, the dagger takes off like an bolt from a crossbow, streaking toward the shouting guard. The blade strikes the hobgoblin in the back, and the guard stumbles and falls.

Lind's Workshop

Ar'dru makes his way down to the workshop. He sees Lind, seemingly tidying up near one of the forges. He stands for a few moment before she notices him, but when she does, she smiles and slinks over.

"Son of Fire, an unexpected surprize, and a pleasant one, dispite the circumstance. My kinsman, Kazzorakkoran, told me a red half-dragon had collapsed on my threshold. You are well now, I hope?" She reaches out and touches his throat where the greenskirt-thrall had cut him with the broken bottle. Ar'dru sees that she does so with a metallic arm made of gold. It is complexly articulated, but moves as natural and smooth as a real arm would.

[bandages only, so no hp recovery, just negation of the poison.]

The touch of Lind's golden arm is hot, and smells of the forge. "The Dark Queen favors me. I have always honored her as the mother of all dragons, and her gifts flow strongly from my hands."

"I may have had to loose something to gain this," she lowers the arm and gazes at it, flexing the fingers "but this thing is the greatest thing that I have ever made. Perhaps it will be the greatest I ever make. Perhaps it will help me make greater artifacts still, only time and and forge will tell."

She looks at Ar'dru quizicly, as if about to ask him something, but does not. Instead, she turns around and walks back to her work benches. "You come to me as but to a biovac between battles, Son of Fire, I can tell. You did not come for rest, but had rest forced upon you, this much Kazzorakkoran told me. I have little to aid you in your war tonight, save my fervant hope that you conquor all that stand against you, and return yet again."

With that Ar'dru turns on his heel and leaves, taking to the air when possible to continue his journey.

Kaz intercepts Ar'dru at the door. "Hey cousin! Not trying to crimp your style or anything, I suspect your the type of warrior who likes his foes to see him coming, but if you have anything to do with that cloud of smoke over beyond the mortuary where I know there aint no forges, you might want to take a few precautions. I might not the most skilled shiv in Sigil, hence why I pefer equilizers, but I do know how to be sly. Here, just in case the Harmonium, or the Minders, or whoever you pissed off are looking for a tall, red, winged basher wearing heavy armor." He hands Ar'dru a volumous dark purple cloak with a deep cowl.

"Oh, and you're not keeping that flask I gave you in your pack with the other stuff, are you? I'd not be so keen on having an unpredictable alchemical reaction in there, if I were you. Might be funny, but I'm not likely to be around to watch it happen. Ha!" He gives Ar'dru a wink and a slap on the back (right on his arrow wound, which stings a little), before wishing him good hunting.

[DM - For Kaz, I'm going for the "I know I shouldn't like this guy, but damn it, I do." type of personality.]

*The Packing House*

From the intelligence Grazz the Accursed gave, Ardru knows the following:
-The Packing House is a legit business interest in Meat Market Square on the border between the Lady's Ward and the Lower Ward.
-Nearby portals lead to various planes where livestock is raised and then imported into Sigil.
-The Portals that lead to varoius locations in Illithid House are in nearby alleyways, in the manager's office, and in the sewers below the Packing House.
-The portals skip around, and the portal to the Brothel could be any of the three locations, but will of course only be activated by the correct portal key - a large feather that must be tickling the side of a portal-hopper's head as he steps through.
-The rest of the place is a slaughterhouse for livestock.
-There are illithid there who coordinate the slaughterhouse workers, but they are all being punnished for some crime against their own people, hence why they must labor.
-The illithid "criminals" are forced to wear large wooden collars that prevent them from extacting humanoid brains (well, unless they hung the person upside-down above them), and are forced to consume only the brains of non-sentient livestock being slaughtered.

What Ar'dru does not know:
-What these illithid did to deserve such punishment.
-The entire layout of the place, since Sight only traveled through here as a way from one portal to the next.

The Vaults

Ya'shenn and Ar'dru wait with mounting anticipation just inside one of open archways, being careful not to activate the portal by leaving the portal key, a large feather, in the main chamber. Minutes pass, but then they hear someone approaching.

" ... but may in fact be gith attacking, which is totally different. I would not put it past those uncouth savages to come here slaughtering my entertainers if they found out who is master here. Miss Slink, if you would please go to the barracks chamber and gather up any remaining guards. They have beem programed to recognize gith if they see them, so dispatch some to bolster the guards at various chambers. Keep a fair brace of them youself to react to any intrusion down here. Mister Gray has already gone upstairs, but since we've had no additional word since the reports of arsonist doomguard, I fear for his safety."

"Hsss. Yesh my massster."

"What of you, master? Do you wish to flee to safety."

"Oh my, no! Not yet anyway, my prickly associate. And, just where would I be safer anyway? In the House with my people? Please!"

A group enters the chamber. There are five hobgoblin guards, a bladeling, and an illithid. They come down into the vaults, the illithid taking out a rung of keys and heading for one of the vault doors to unlock it. The illithid catches sight of "Ms. Lythe" and "Mr. Love".

"Ah! Greetings, associates. Good thinking, coming to meet us down here. No hobs? Ah well, Miss Slink is getting some. Mister Sharp, if you you would, please go fetch Violet for me."

The bladeling shutters slightly, and shoots the illithid a "do I HAVE to?" look, and even glances nervously at the other associates, in the vain hope Lavendar will send someone else.

"Now, don't be like that, you know Violet has already eaten. Bring a hob with you, if you're worried about Violet getting 'playful'." The illithid shoos the bladeling off, leaving it with only four hobgoblin bodyguards. It hen turns to the disguised gith, "Associates, if you please ..." The illithid indicates toward the inside of the vault, which they can now see stores an arsenal of weapons.

Ii'Jyka steps forward to attack the Hob, and arcs her sword upward from the low crouch she was poised in, blade upward with the cutting side to the ceiling.

She seems to enjoy her combats because she softly sings an old Gith song...

[ooc- I'll pop the flask into one of the side pockets of the haversack]

Ar'dru looks at Kaz curiously "Thank you cousin but I am willing to bear the consequence of my actions should that be my fate. I will see you later no doubt."

As Ar'dru flies towards the packing house he inwardly laments the effect that the city seems to be having on it's Gith and Draconic inhabitants. First Grazz and now Kaz seem little different from the teeming masses of graith that inhabit this place. Resolving to stay true to his traditions Ar'dru re-focusses on the task at hand.

Ar'dru wheels around at height above the packing house grimacing slightly at the smell of faeces, offal and rendering fat as he assesses the defences and likely entry points to the building.

The ferocity of Ii’Jyka’Vaar’s strikes seems decisive, and so Du’minh holds off for now. For the moment, he sizes up the situation and keeps ready to fall in should either of the hobgoblins remain active despite the efforts of his allies.

OOC
Du’minh delays, though if either of the guards should turn out not to be incapacitated by Ii’s and Gy’s attacks he will step in to finish it off.

The psion's heart rate increases noticeably the moment she hears what she quickly guesses to be Lavender/Lavendar's voice. Forcibly holding any unseemly emotions of, say, fear or panic at bay, Ya'shenn throws herself fully into the role of Lythe, drawing upon whatever the hobgoblin guard had known concerning the drow.

The illithid indicates toward the inside of the vault, which they can now see stores an arsenal of weapons.

As the illithid speaks, Lythe-Yashenn tries to form a more detailed picture of... Its... physical appearance, though she takes pains to avoid drawing attention as she does so. Does Lavender match the mental image of any individual illithid she's seen before? Does It bear the accoutrements of an illithid mage? Not to mention, does it wear the amethyst portal-key around its neck?

Not trusting herself to get Lythe's voice exactly right just now, Lythe-Ya'shenn appears to throw herself into her servile role, pulling weapons out of the arms closet and tossing a few of them to 'Mr. Love.' She also checks whether there is anything particularly interesting or unusual about these weapons -- any of drow make, anything that stands out?

[The following occurs if and only if Ya'shenn believes that Lavender/Lavendar is buying it and that the bulk of its attention is directed elsewhere.]

Ya'shenn takes particular care to hide her concentration and preoccupation from the oh-so-nearby tentacled horror, either by using the opened side-cellar door to conceal her face, or turning away as she hands weapons to 'Mister Love.' She mentally debates with herself for a few moments, then messages Gy-Nath.

~The illithid Lavendar is here. [mental image/location information] It suspects, but is not sure, what enemy besets it, and has sent some of its guards away to gather reinforcements, including the second flayer. Those will arrive eventually, but if you and the others can be here quickly, I do not think there will be a better time to strike at this one.

[I'm not certain whether Ya'shenn would know if any of the servants Lavendar just sent off are headed Gy's way, but if she does, she'd let him know.]

After a couple of circles, Ar'dru notes three entrances. There is a huge barn-door where livestock are herded in, today it appears to be a large number of long-horned cattle. The second entrance is around the side of the building from this, up a flight of stairs. At the base of the stairs, a huge, fat ogre wearing a blood-stained smock appears to be haggling with some scuffy-looking human drovers. The third entrance is around the back of the building, where a large round pipe, some eight feet in diameter, trickles blood into deep ditch, which in turn disappears into a huge rusty grate.

Entering the barn door, there would be literally hundereds of witnesses, but all of them, save a dozen or so drovers, would be cows. The ogre and three drovers would most certainly see him enter to office door, which stands open, but there is no telling how many workers might be just inside. The drain offers the least guarded entrance, but who knows what impediments lie between where it issues forth and killing floor?

As he makes another pass, Ar'dru sees a panic break out in the herd of cows, and the drovers loose control. Before a full stampede can occur, an emaciated illithid wearing a square wood and iron collar some three feet to a side emerge from the barn doors. Ar'dru 'hears' a distant hum, and all the cows stand shock-still, legs trembling. Like well-drilled soldiers they line up again and march in through the yawning doors.
