Ii'Jyka'Vaar positions herself in an alley up the street from the corner where she can both watch the exchange ahead and signal back to the others. She can step behind a corner to avoid being seen. The rain of earlier has gone, though there are fogs and mists clinging to the streets. Ii's dragonrider's eyesight seves her well, and the mists aid her in remaining hidden from the greenskirts on the corner.

Ii watches Ya'shenn and Daraz bribe their way past the greenskirts, one of whom makes a rude jesture at their backs, but they encounter no real problems. As Ii waits and watches, two of the greenskirts able off to find work, leaving four whores and the pimp. Ii manages to remain hidden, while Gy-Nath and Du'minh manage to remain mostly inconspicuous. True to form, those Sigilans that notice the pair of armored and heavily armed githyanki pass by without so much as a long glance in their direction. Sigilans know to mind their own business, especially where the githyanki are concerned.

Daraz and Ya'shenn enter the heart of the Hive Brothel. Housed in what was once a grand mansion of marble, it is now most obviously part of the Hive. All the fancy gold and crystal fixtures have been long looted, leaving narry a doorknob behind. There are some concessions to luxury, however, reflecting the current use of the place. Tattered silk curtains, probably looted from the trash in the Lady's Ward, cover those doorways where the doors themselves have been removed. A few matresses leaking goose-down are strewn on the floors of the hallways for those customers none to particular about privacy.

The portal dumps the pair of infultrators from an open archway covered by a curtain made of three different pieces of silk sewn together, one of which being an old dress with a bloodstain around a shiv-hole. The customer in the room gropes for his weapons when the pair appear, but the greenskirt servicing him simply grunts and demands two stingers of the pair if they wish to stay and watch. Ya'shenn barely hides her embarassment and disgust, but turns and drags Daraz back out into the hallway.

From their knowlege of the layout, the gith know they must go down to the end of the hall, and down a spiral staircase to reach the inner offices where the illithid masters of the place and the portals deeper into Illithid House are to be found. There are several greenskirts without the status to rate a semi-private room lounging on matresses in the wide hallway, and Daraz can see a pair of hobgoblin eunuchs standing guard at the top of the stairs at the other end.

Daraz will wander idly around and see how close he can get to the entrance to the portal. When it is time to attack, Ya'shnen will hopefully create a distraction to allow him to get to cover (idealy, a position that cannot be charged) and fire at the hobgoblins

The Hive Brothel

A satyr, immaculately groomed, heavilly pierced, and reeking of vanilla, approaches Ya'shenn and Daraz. He offers his services as a 'guide'.

Ya'shenn feigns concern, "Sir, when we came through our portal, it looked like one of your customers was killing one of your greenskirts and robbing her. He was heavily armed ..."

"Wh ... What!?! Why that cross-trader! Guards!" He calls to the pair of burly hobgoblins watching the stairs.

"Now's our chance," she whispers to Daraz. The short commotion also attracts the attention of the various greenskirts, and only one notices Ya'shenn and Daraz go down the stairs. Yashenn notices her, a youngish human with short blonde hair and makeup concieling a bruised cheek. "Come with us." Ya'shenn tells her, and she obeys. As they descend the stairs, Ya'shenn speaks quickly to the greenskirt, acertaining her disposition toward her 'employers'. The prostitute answers truthfully and easilly, as if chatting with an old friend. She is (unsurprisingly) unhappy with her life, being little more than a pleasure-slave to the lowest scum of the planes. She harbors resentment and a stubborn spite, but she is also kept in line through fear. Ya'shenn stops her on the stairs, and they lock eyes. "You hate your masters. As if watching a dream, you will not react to violence against them. You will lie, or go along with the lies of others, to bring them subtle harm."

Daraz, decending the stairs a few steps ahead of Ya'shenn and the greenskirt, sees a pair of hobgoblin guards below. The staircase is a sweeping marble spiral, with a space in the middle. There is no railing, for it must have been tore out and looted some time ago. The guards do not notice Daraz. They are armed with stout clubs, and one has a whip coiled around his torso. Both also have daggers in belts at their waists. They are otherwise unarmored and unclothed, and both are eunuchs.

From the knowledge that Ya'shenn had taken from Grazz's mind, the gith know that before them lie a number of old, but well made, cellars and vaults that the illithid have stocked with their own mixture of oppulent and horrific luxuries. Once past the guards that Daraz now sees, there is a long decending ramp, likely guarded at the far end as well. Beyond that they should be able to sneak around the cellars, hopefully avoiding detection, for most of the rooms will be empty. At one end of the 'inner offices' is a hallway with several vaults with the doors removed (all but one, which is the Hive Brothel's treasury). These are the portals to other rooms in Illithid House. Once there, Daraz and Ya'shenn are to get ready to ambush any illithids fleeing the warriors' attack.

The Festhall District

Ii'jyka'vaar signals to Gy-Nath and Du'minh from her position. "Hmm, four greenskirts and a pimp in front of the portal. If they know the nature of their masters, they will be on the lookout for the People of Gith, but i doubt that they do. The pimp, however, is likely to be the problem. I figure he either does know the illithid are masters of the Hive Brothel, or he is mentally dominated, and will raise the alarm once he spots us. Du'minh, will you ready your bow once we hear the signal? I'd teleport down there, but would rather conserve my power for now."

"The other issue is that while this street corner isn't busy, it's not exactly deserted either. We will be through the portal long before any Hardheads, Minders, or Sons of Mercy can respond, but there is always a chance that some berk will see us kill these greenskirts in cold blood and try to get in our way."

The Airspace Above the Hive Ward

The sulfurous clouds over the Hive, are as bad, in their own way, as the fumes of Avernus. Ar'dru's draconic lungs can tolerate such punishment, but the smell is still nausiating. Then there are the unpredictable air currents, which seem to get far more unpredictable over the Hive Ward. Though he is not the only flier in the Sigilan 'sky' Ardru's most dangerous opponent remains Sigil's 'weather'. Ar'dru, heavilly laden with flasks and ceramic jars, does not have an easy time of it, and is even forced to land near the Gatehouse for a few minutes. Once he takes wing again, he soon catches sight of the Marble District. After a few careful passes, he identifies the half-ruined mansion housing the Hive Brothel.

Whist he heads as directlty as possible to his target Ar'dru hops from roof top to rooftop and swoops behind tall buildings where possible in an attemp to conceal his destination to the casual observor. There seems little to lose in acting somewhat suspiciously given the neighbourhood.

When possible Ar'dru inspects the brothel roof for an appropriate landing spot and, if one proves to be available, settles himself down and inspects the area.

The Hive Brothel - Exterior

The brothel is housed in a sprawling, partially ruined marble mansion. There are three different wings, one more ruined and squalid than the others. The main house has three levels, the lowest one tall enough for a titan. The archetecture is awe-inspiring, but it has been a long time since the Marble Disctrict was taken over by the Hive. The white marble exterior is stained with long red-brown streaks of oxidation from Sigil's rain. Doors, railings, and slabs of marble have been carted away and sold by hivers. In the more-ruined wing, whole sections have been replaced by shanties of scavenged blocks, wood, and tarps. Even in the two better-kept wings, windows and doors are made of rags.

On the main mansion, there are a few balconies, some empty, some with carousing patrons and greenskirts. All are oblivious to Ar'dru's presence.

“I say we remain at our current position and rush them upon the signal. I would similarly preserve my teleportation reserves – we have a long bloody journey ahead of us. Any bystanders who pick up arms against us or refuse to get out of the way shall be dealt with without mercy.”

Both alignment and githyanki culture-wise, I think it pretty much a given that Du’minh generally has no qualms about treating graith who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time as unfortunate “casualties of war”. Sticking out tongue

Daraz takes aim ... and shoots the guard with the whip through the neck. The bolt in fact passes right through, and the second guard looks over at his companion with some confusion, not understanding why he is clutching his throat and sinking to his knees. As such, Daraz has time to reload and fire at the second guard before the hobgoblin can properly react.

Ar'dru throws a flask of regular alchemist's fire that he brought from home. It hits a wooden beam supporting a tarp-roofed shanty and shatters. There is a flash of fire, and the chemicals burn for seveal long moments, but the weather has been far too wet of late, and the flames do not catch on anything else. Ar'dru wonders whether anybody even noticed at first, then a disheveled greenskirt comes out of an adjacent shanty. She is followed closely by a large orc with no pants on.

"Git back in 'ere, BITCH!"

"There's a fire ... "

"I said git back 'ere, I'm not done yet!"

"Pike it! You're never done, you impotent skank!"

The orc and the greenskirt then start wrestling as the flames burn down. A few onlookers emerge from their own shanties to watch the action, but nobody moves to separate the pair, nor to extinguish the fire. The Sigilan sky is dark and misty, so Ar'dru has escaped detection thusfar.

[DM- Ar'dru can go through a window or continue bombardment from the air. If through a window let me know if you're entering the shanty wing, the better wing, or the main house (balcony). Edit: The intel Ar'dru knows: the inner offices of the Hive Brothel are in the cellars of the main mansion, so the plan was to draw guards from that area before Gy, Du, and Ii attack. Ar'dru himself may then make his way to link up with them, or alternately meet the party at the next room, The Packing House, which he can reach by air or portal.]

Ar'dru alights on a small balcony in the less ruined wing and pushes past the silk curtain covering the doorway. Laden with a number of heavy flasks, it is impossible for him to land quietly. By the time he enters the room, the client has already climbed off the resident greenskirt, and is snatching up his shivs. Ar'dru faces an armed, but naked, tiefling, and an unarmed greenskirt still lying on a matress on the floor.

The hobgoblin guard sees blood spurt from his companion's neck, and whirls around, just in time to catch Daraz's second bolt in the chest. He staggers forward, trying to climb the stairs to face his foes, but stumbes on the sixth or seventh step. The hobgoblin tries to struggle to his feet, not yet realizing that he is dead. Ya'shenn lodas her own crossbow and puts a bolt into the hobgoblin, who is finally convinced, and rolls off the side of the banisterles stairs to land hard on the marble floor.

Then he moves up to get a clear shot of the pimp and lets an arrow fly from his bowstring. Regardless of whether it connects, the Rish continues moving ahead with cold determination glinting in his eyes.

Ar'dru doesn't spare the tiefling a glance and proceeds to douse the walls and bed with 3 flasks worth of lamp oil.

"I suggest you run miss" he states flatly before he lights the oil soaked areas and stalks out of the room in search of other likely spots.

The Hive Brothel

(upstairs)

Ar'dru begins soaking the cheap furnishing with oil. The greenskirt, too startled at first to summon an adequate response to the intrusion, backs away toward the door, lacing up her bodice as she goes.

"Hey smeg! If you're into redskirts, they've got 'em downstairs. I'm not up for anything kinky involving fire though, so you can count me out." She sneers at Ar'dru as she prys up a loose floorboard to retrieve her stash of jinx.

[Yea, I had to make her smarmy, sorry. Just remember, you're evil and allowed to kill her.]

(downstairs)

The dominated human greenskirt needs to be led, like a sleepwalker, until the hobgoblin corpses are out of sight. Afterwards, she snaps out of her stupor and begins chatting like nothing happened. Through her, Daraz and Ya'shenn learn that the guards will not listen to her, a mere greenskirt, but will listen to one of the 'associates'.

"We may use this to get the drop on the next pair of guards we see. It is good to change tactics periodicly."

The greenskirt does not know the layout of the lower chambers herself, few who are sent there ever return. Neither does she know the race or identity of the masters. She, like many of her fellows, think that either the pimps make up "The Masters" or that they are an ever-changing group of the richest, most powerful pimp/slavers in The Hive.

The trio traverse a long, decending hallway that ends in an archway. The archway opens on a balcony. Two sets of stairs descend on either side, and a similar balcony is visible on the other side. There are two guards, armed with shortbows on the balcony, and two more (with only clubs) on the opposite side. The room between was formerly a storage room, and there are small side-cellars, six in all, that lead nowhere. The balconies themselves have (like just about everywhere else in this place) been robbed of their metal railings long ago.

The guards inside the archway watch the room, not the hallway.

[DM - Wei, sense motive check plz. Plus, you can appear however you want, though the only 'associate' you've seen was the satyr.]

The Festhall District

Ia'jyka'vaar steps from out of hiding and draws her weapon. Instantly, the pimp on the corner notices it (as if he'd been pre-programed to ... ).

"Githyanki! Hold them off me a moment, love. I've got to get back and warn Master Lavendar."
The tiefling then turns tail and runs. Before he can take three steps, Du'minh's arrow pierces his tophat. His hat does not fall of, and Du'minh cannot tell if the tiefer is wounded or not, but he keeps on running for the alleyway, so he isn't slain.

Gy-Nath charges forward several steps behind Ii'jyka'vaar. He draws a blade in each hand, and uses his telekinesis to holds another in striking position above his head.

"Githyanki!?! Pike this!" One of the greenskirts kicks off her heels and goes running off down the street.

"Bitch! If I ever see your skanky arse again, I'll flay it off!" The androgenous human yells after her. (S)he takes out a short whip with six tails. In total, five greenskirts stand their ground (for now), armed mostly with daggers except for the she-male human and the shaven dwarf, who fishes a leather sap from his thong.

There are several bystanders on the street. Most of them either quickly go inside and close the door or hurry of in a direction away from the armed violence. There is, however, a trio of clueless not far from where Du'minh stepped out and drew his bow.

"Hey!" One of them, a warrior in chain mail, yells. "That ... that, uh ... guy just shot ... that other guy! V, shouldn't we do something, or, like, call for the guard ... or something!?!"

His companion dressed in quinticential star-and-moon-robes-with-a pointy-hat (which marks them as clueless, no Sigilan wizard would dress in a way that marks him as a wizard at first glance) is just as bewildered, but hides it better behind a know-it-all attitude.

"Well, uh, The City of Doors is policed by the Harmonium, distingished by their red armor. Um, I don't see any around ... "

The third clueless, an elvin maiden in green leathers, rolls her eyes at her companions and takes the clue from the native Sigilans, quickening her pace away from the scene.

[DM - Du'minh can have a second shot at "Love", or he can back up Gy-Nath and Ii'jyka'vaar, or he can deal with the cluless fools, who're still trying to figure out what to do about this rampant lawlessness.]

Du'minh takes his eyes off the pimp for a split second to intimidate the clueless primes. His first shot is therefore not as well aimed as it could be, and instead of hitting his intended target, his arrow hits a bystander "Mr. Love" shoves past. The bystander, a young Kaasta who had been watching the coming combat with anticipation instead of fleeing, is struck in the chest and falls dead in the street. Du'minh cuses silently and lets loose another. The pimp is hit in the shoulder just as he rounds the corner of the alleyway and disappears from sight.

The nearby clueless look even more shocked than before. The wizard's fear is almost palpable, but it is obvious the armored warrior is not in the habit of buckling to threats. He draws his sword and falls into a defensive stance, but does not advance on Du'minh.

Ii'Jyka'Vaar singles out the Dwarf in her 'charge', (she does not actually charge, but does run in some fashion to her targer)

She 'drags' the weapon lightly across the cobble stones, lifted just an inch from the actual stones and in a upward arc swipes at the dwarf in question.... "Kiyaa!"... and with the same precision (cough)..she swipes again downward in order to finish him of before he can make any other move.

ooc:If, in the godsimpossibility that a 15 is an actual hit, i roll 2x for damage, then again, i just noticed that the description of the dwarf states that he is in his thong only?, he must be very dextrous to evade me then...lol.

The Festhall District

Ii'jyka'vaar runs into the knot of greenskirts, and slashes the hairless dwarf from groin to neck. Her follow-up swing takes a significant chunk from the top of her victem's skull. The dwarf stumbles backwards, bleeding heavily from the fatal wounds. The greenskirts' faces betray their horror. As hive-dwellers and Sigilan street-rats, they have seen and perpetuated violence before, but there is a big difference between a shanking with a dagger and the horrific wounds the githyanki warrior is inflicting. Blood sprays out of the dwarf, drenching the closest prostitute.

Gy-Nath is not far behind. He strikes with his bastard sword, opening another greenskirt's abdomen. "Thralls and pawns! May your blood slicken these stones and nourish nothing!" he yells.

The sudden and vicious attack leaves most of the greenskirts stunned and reconsidering their decision to obey their bosses. The androgynous human, however, does not hesitate (s)he lashes Gy-Nath's face, drawing blood. Another one of the greenskirts stabs at him with a dagger, but the blade is turned aside by his godsteel armor.

Du'minh puts up his bow and charges forward swinging his flail. The prime in chain mail, showing more wisdom than expected, does nothing to hinder him, instead standing aside and protecting his companion. The prime does, however, start yelling at the top of his lungs, "Guards! Murder! Guards! By the Gods why doesn't anyone come? What kind of lawless city is this? Guards!"

The Hive Brothel

(downstairs)

The pair of hobgoblin guards see the trio approaching down the hall without much concern. That is, until Daraz chants a short arcane phrase and blasts them with a spout of flame from his fingertips. Both are burned, but manage to dive aside and avoid the worst of the blast. Seeing that Daraz's spell did not prove fatal, Ya'shenn draws the dorje they took off the illithid watchers and points it at one of the guards. Just as the hobgoblin gets back to his feet and readies himself to spring at the intruders, he is hit by a concussive force that flings him off the balcony. The still-sizzling guard crashes to the floor, breaking a table in the process, and does not get back up. On the other side of the room, the other pair of guards are taken aback. They had been watching their own door, under orders to prevent escape, not watch for intrusion. It takes a few moments for the dull-witted guards to understand what is going on, but once they do, they pick up their clubs and come charging accross the room.

The greenskirt, meanwhile, once again seems to go into a barely-aware stupor as soon as violence breaks out.

(upstairs)

Ar'dru sets the room on fire and strides out into the hall. There are greenskirts emerging from similar rooms, curious to see what is happening. Coming down the hall is a pimp, a derro wearing platform shoes to make him all of four feet tall, flanked by a pair of hobgoblin guards. At first he is busy ordering the greenskirts back into their rooms, but then catches sight of the smoke and flame, and the armored half-dragon, and yells to one of the greenskirts to run and fetch reinforcements.

[ooc- not sure how many actions this'll take but I thought that I might be able to manage it in a round]

Ar'dru pulls out two more flasks of standard alchemists fire and bellows "Entropy take you" before lobbing each into a different nearby doorway, as near to the bed as possible (insert 5' step if it'll help). This done he draws his sword and sets himself in a defensive stance between the burning rooms crying out "To me Doomguard!."

The Festhall District

Ii'jyka'vaar ... hears? Feels? Senses? A sigh of satisfaction come from her blade as it slays the dwarf, and consumes his very soul.

Several short blasts from a whistle are heard from a few blocks away, a signal that someone, Minder, Harmonium, or Son of Mercy, has heard the cry of "Murder" and is summoning reinforcements as they move to respond. Is is rather unlikely, however, that any aid will arrive before the githyanki are through the portal, for the battle is rather one-sided, dispite the greenskirts' efforts, as the lightly armed whores are really no match for three seasoned githyanki warriors, armored and armed to the teeth.

The Hive Brothel (upstairs)

Ar'dru tosses alchemists' fire right and left, in one case shattering a flask on the back of a patron's head as he lay with his greenskirt on a filthy matress. The derro 'associate' orders his guards to attack, but he himself runs off cursing Sinkers and Kaasta. [Yes, he's an idiot.]

The pair of hobgob eunichs rush Ar'dru wielding stout clubs. As they close in, he notices a telltale scar on their temples, and the familiar fierce-yet-vacant look of soldier-thralls bound to their illithid masters' wills. One of them lands a solid blow on Ar'dru's skull just as he draws his own weapon.
