What do you think of what they did with the Genasi? Now there is ony one race of Genasi, but with multiple elemental manefestations, and they can switch elements... and apparently the replacement race for the Asimaar will be called "devas"...

The new genasi are cool. They fit into the Realms, though they're not exactly the same as Planescape's genasi, which are often much more recent crossbreeds and have a variety of different looks. In that respect, the 4e genasi are like the 4e tieflings - much more standardized in appearance, with an ancient lineage that's turned them into a cohesive race instead of a motley group of varied hybrids.
But I like the look of 4e genasi, and the article on them on the WotC website was well done.
