First time D&D 3.5 DMing Planescape

This is my first post to these boards, and there's so much to absorb, but let me just say it's awesome to see an 'abandoned' license continue like this.

I'm an experienced DM, and have run many games, but I, till recently, was a hold-out: ne'er did later than 2nd ed grace my table. However, I've recently decided to run a game of 3.5, and have converted some 2nd ed Planescape modules. I'm reading up on D&D 3.5 planescape (Planar Manual, Manual of the Planes), and this site, too.

However, I'm having difficulty finding some info. In the 3.5 version, are magical weapons weakened when carried farther away from home plane, as in 2nd ed?

Also, I'd love to hear from anyone who's played through Well of the Worlds, The Great Modron March, or Dead Gods, and has any observations, or DM tips.

Magic weapons aren't weakened, but it'd be a simple matter to do so if you wanted.

Ummm any way I could be of help? I always wished there was more Planescape material, and would jump at the chance to assist.

It's not a part of 3.5 as standard, no.

We were planning to release that information as an appendix on the site for those DMs who want to apply it to their game. So given some time for that to get set up and we'll get one to you. Smiling

Probably the quickest and easiest way to pitch in on this particular subject would be to save me a lot of hunting time and pin down the 2nd ed resources I need to look at to make that appendix. Smiling

Otherwise - is there anything you were in the mood to work on? There's a few module and netbook projects we've got that would love to have some new volunteers.

You may want to drop a PM to Hymneth - he's done a number of module conversions from 2nd to 3rd as well. It'd be worthwhile to see if you've overlapped and how closely your conversions match and what problems he ran across in the work. And of course, module conversions are articles that are guaranteed to be of interest to a lot of folks here.

I'm also going to take this opportunity to say: Welcome!

And also to pitch my own project, the Lady's Sharper Eye. A short news article with a basis in your campaign can be submitted to: lse@planewalker.com
