Faction War: before or after?

Greetings to all fellow Planewalkers!

I am not very experienced in planar matters, and i'd be interested in people's opinions regarding the faction war. Is the era before or after the faction war the most representative of Planescape's flavour?

Neither in my opinion.
Planescape didn't lose any flavor or gain any flavor with Faction War - F.War was supposed to be the first of a three set of plots that would have eventually brought the factions back around to Sigil in a slightly different context and social position - no loss. The idea was if anythign to remind people that there's more to the planes than just Sigil and it's factions. The original writers just never got to finish the story.

90% of all Planescape stuff is pre-Faction War, so that era is more iconic, but I think Shemmy's story hour (Clueless will have a link) proves that post-Faction War is just as rich in possibilities.

Aye, it certainly can be. And that 90% of stuff is pre-FW is just happenstance of when the product line ended :-/
