Re: "Die, Vecna, Die!" canonical in 4E Draconomicon II

"The Sword of Kas had a fragment of Vecna's mind, and influenced Kas...to betray Vecna."

So a part of Vecna's own mind sought to betray Vecna himself? Does that mean that the part that became the Sword was his self-doubt or his (dare I suggest it?) conscience? Or does that mean that Vecna is such a megalomaniac that every sliver of Vecna wants to lord over every other thing in the multiverse including every other silver of himself?

That part was actually canon even before that article. And it's pretty much exactly what you said, Palomides; Vecna is just that megalomaniacal.

You know, this makes me sad I lost a post Rip wrote that actually came up with a good explanation on how Vecna could access Sigil.

I chalk it up to him splitting himself and some clever use of chronomancy and possible worlds (I think it was in Vecna lives that one of the passageways to Vecna's realm leads to possible worlds that fade away and rise).

It's almost as if they ignored most of Die Vecna Die or retconned it away

Just like the rest of 4E!
