I'll give it a try if you're willing to wait.
Desire and the Dead Pathfinder
I'm interested in trying this module, but I don't know anything about the system.
Well it's just a modified D&D 3.5 basically.
Playtest here via Play-by-post? (if yes, I am just happy I only downloaded this module and have not read it yet )
Woohooo, I would LOVE to try Paizo's Barbarian
And yes, it's 3.5e modified. Something for players not wanting to switch to 4e (like me).
Character Creation Rules and House Rules
* Organic Ability Score Generation
* Material Available: Core Rulebooks, Pathfinder Alpha Release 2, Expanded Psionics Handbook, & the Planescape Setting. I could possibly be convinced to include something if I have the book, but I'd prefer to stick with these books.
* Characters will be level 1. We will be using Unearthed Arcana 's Bloodline rules for Planetouched. Some races have modified Level Adjustments these include: Bariaur: +0, Bladeling: +0, Githyanki: +0, Githzerai: +1. We will be using Dragon Magazine's Modron, so you can use the Exiled Modron race, however they will be only LA +0.
* We will be using Traits and Flaws from Unearthed Arcana.
* We will be using Weapon Group Feats from Unearthed Arcana instead of Weapon Profiencies, and for weapon feats.
* We will be using Magic Ratings from Unearthed Arcana. However there will be seperate Arcane, Divine, Martial, and Psionic Ratings. The Martial Rating applies to when you gain Uncanny Dodge and Improved Uncanny Dodge, Diamond Mind and class-based saving throws for extraordinary abilities. The Divine Rating applies to Turn Undead.
* Class Skills for each Class (Int Bonus excluded): Barbarian: 4 , Bard: 6, Cleric: 4, Druid: 4, Fighter: 4, Monk: 4, Paladin: 4, Ranger: 6, Rogue: 8, Sorcerer: 4,
Wizard: 4.
* Class Skills for the Fighter are: Acrobatics, Climb, Craft, Deception, Diplomacy, Handle Animal, Heal, Insight*, Intimidate, Knowledge (dungeoneering, engineering, geography, history, local, nobility), Perception, Perform, Profession, Ride, Survival, Swim. *Insight includes Sense Motive and Gather Information and is Wisdom based.
* We're using the Constitution variant for starting hit points.
* If you want to play a variant from Unearthed Arcana or to design a new variant to play ask me.
* A Fighter's Weapon Training ability adds +1 to attacks and +2 to damage per level of Weapon Training. So a 9th level Fighter who choose axes at 5th level and bows at 9th would have a +2 to atks with axes and +1 with bows and + 4 to axe damage and +2 to bow damage.
* Monks get d10 HD and Good BAB. They can use any weapon they are proficient in for Flurry of Blows.
* No alignment requirements for base classes, except for Paladins. Variant alignment Paladins are available from Unearthed Arcana.
* Trapfinding is a feat, requiring Disable Device or Craft (trapsmith) 1 rank.
* http://paizo.com/.../simpleElegantAndOPTIONALSkillSynergies This rule is being used.
* Levels in a favored class give 1 skill point per level as well as hit points.
A couple more House Rules:
* No multiclass restrictions
* Clerics get d6, Poor BAB, Poor Fort Saves, Proficiency in Weapon Group (basic weapons), one additional Weapon Group, and Light Armor. If you want to play a 3/4 HD Cleric we can figure out a variant.
* Clerics and Druids are spontaneous casters as Unearthed Arcana, and can learn any spell previously associated with the Domains of they're deity.
Any one still interested?
Yeah, I'm interested. What's the plan for classic PS races? Hoping to playtest Pathfinder's new aproach to wizard if that's OK with you.
As i said above, some Level Adjustments are being changed and Planetouched are going to be represented by Bloodlines from Unearthed Arcana.
Unearthed Arcana stuff can be found at http://www.d20srd.org/.
Sorry. I missed that. Brain soup.
Also, do you want characters PM'd to you?
Also, do you want dice rolls in the thread?
Well what's modified about it? :|
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG
That's the website up there. In addition I've made a few modifications that I'd like to see in the actual thing (as well as a few things that are just personal preference), so I can see how they work and give feedback to Paizo.
What is the ruling from above on weapon groups and the single human weapon proficiency? Also, what starting wealth should we assume? Standard?
You should get one Weapon Group. Yes, standard wealth.
Standard wealth including kit gear too (I wants me my backpack! Yesss!)?
What's the story about ability score generation? I rolled 16, 11, 12, 17, 9, 14 including rerolls and drops. It's a bit high, I think I'll roll here if you want, but I'm quite fond of my smashy-wizard.
It's organic ability score generation, so you place abilities in the order you rolled, reroll one and then switch two.
That's what I did. I switched STR and WIS. Also, can I lose a few spells in my spellbook in order to pick up a longsword? 15 GP is a lot for a 1st level character.
Well it will be about a week before I have time to make a character. If you haven't started by then I a have few question for the concept I am thinking of.
Are we using the free version of Pathfinder?
And is anyone playing a Githyanki, a Githzerai, or a Hardhead? If so I'll have to come up with a new idea.
Edit: What is the starting level?
And add Illithid to the list, but I doubt it'll come up.
Yes we are using the free version. It's the only one available yet. The purpose of this game is to gather feedback that may be implemented into the final version.
The starting level is 1. However several Level Adjustments have been modified as A) I don't think they were that powerful any way and B) The Pathfinder races are more powerful.
Ok cool. So, what types of characters is everyone thinking about playing?
I'd play - but mind have a small advantage...
I look forward to seeing how the adventure plays out for you guys. Please take note of anything you think using the Pathfinder rules will change in the scenario. A Pathfinder conversion (not necessarilly written by me) might be a distinct possibility in the future.
Uh about that, you're stat blocks are missing race and class, so it's proving some what difficult to convert. You are welcome to play.
I wanted to try that, but there are too many variations and house rules. Cannot keep track with all of them and I really do not have time to look what's "Constitution variant for hp", "magic ratings from Unearthed Arcana", "Clerics and Druids are spontaneous casters as Unearthed Arcana" etc etc etc. Pathfinder would be ok, but I always like to keep rules simple and variations from UA together with PF RPG means I'm out. Wish you luck though, I'll be watching the game.
Submited the crunchy parts of my character.
Wizard (specifically a transmuter) with a secondary focus on smashing things.
Sweet that means I can play my character. I haven't made him yet, but I'm thinking a githyanki fighter.
Hey, I'm just checking in and saying I'm still around. I noticed some errors in that character sheet, I'll tell you the details later.
Hmm. Not surprised.
This has come up on another thread, so its already filed away under "one day make it better." Have a delve into the descriptive text for details, or PM me if something seems totally bizarre or mysterious...
Sorry its taken me so long, but I'm still in. I'll try to finish my character by tonight.
Same. I'll have them to you sometime tomorrow.
So I was reading over the magic ratings part of the SRD and by their way of doing things my character (a githyanki fighter) has a ML of 0. Does this mean I cannot use my Psi-like abiltiies?
Is there still openings in this one?
Ever since Pathfinder Alpha2 was released I have wanted to play a gnome sorcerer of abyssal bloodline. I have already made the stats, but I think that sorcerer rules will change in Alpha 3, which isn't so far away anymore.
Here's the background bit for the character:
Jarmo d’Sivis of Korranberg
Although Jarmo now presents himself as some kind of a Prime world noble, he was born to a hiver gnome family. His fiendish appearance made him the scapegoat for his siblings. Every time one if his brothers broke something, or something was missing, Jarmo got the blame.
He slowly, but steadily grew to despise his family, and the abysmal living conditions of the Hive. He decided that life must hold something more for him, so he set out to find it. Ever since childhood, Jarmo has had the knack for spontaneously casting spells, even more so than most gnomes. Through theft, trickery and some research, he has re-imaged himself as some kind of Prime noble hailing from the relatively unknown world of Eberron. He claims to be a member of a Dragonmarked house Sivis, and has managed to get a hold of the house’s signet ring. The ring and the nice clothes have depleted his resources momentarily, so currently Jarmo is on a lookout for some well-paying cons and jobs.
Besides the fancy colorful clothes Jarmo is wearing, his most notable feature is his small but sharp claws on his hands. More perceptive observers can spot Jarmo’s forked tongue as well. Jarmo makes a conscious effort to avoid the Sigil cant, and tries to use phrases and words he has heard from the clueless instead.
Quote: “There are planetouched on Eberron too, you know!”
Hey just in case any one is wondering yes I am still interested. I am currently having computer problems, but I should get them cleared up soon, possibly tommorow.
You chose a great time to have computer problems. They coincide exactly with my schoolwork problems.
Well I have a work anti-problem; I just got promoted. (I am even bragging here .) But if anyone has time I really need some help with making my character. I don't understand magic ratings.
I would say that since you're race gives you psionic abilities you have a psionic rating of at least one. Similarly a gnome would have an arcane rating of at least one.
Anyone still interested in this?
Yep
Sure!
Yes. Sorry about the delay. I'll submit my character on Monday.
I just PMed my character.
This was over three weeks ago. Is this game still happening?
I'd be interested in playing too.
Oh - let me know how this experiment works out. I'd love to have an appendix for Pathfinder support for the module.
