Dagon's Abyssal Layer

I don't have the Fiendish Codex, but I'm betting a lot of you guys do.

What's Dagon's layer of the Abyss like?

It's a deep, dark underwater region with no surface, filled with demonic aquatic creatures. It's accessible from oceanic trenches in Demogorgon's layer.

It is connected to the Abyssal ocean (maybe it IS the abyssal ocean)

There's more details on Dagon's layer in one of FCI's web enhancements on the WotC site.

Which is located here. There's only a paragraph or so, but it's as much detail as you'll find.

Could very well be that the obyriths originated in the Far Realm. That seems to be the origin of most Cthulhu type creatures/deities in D&D. They just never stay there.

Hasn't this already been talked about and debated over on here? didn't we come to the conclusion that they came from the future, because most cannon leads to believe that. Or am I completely wrong on this subject?

According to Lords of Madness, yes, illithids are from the future. Currently they seem to be existing in a closed timelike loop; although the origins of said loop are now irretrievably lost in the spirals of time, it's possible that they originally emigrated into our multiverse from Outside.

I just read the newest Dragon Magazine, and guess who's in the Demonomicon section!

Yeah, the new Dragon is a great resource for learning about Dagon's layer. Infinite darkness, petitioners living in constant fear, ancient Cyclopean ruins left from a time when the obyriths had an advanced civilization, and gigantic hovering pearls with intelligences imprisoned inside, which Dagon sings to.

What number is his layer? Does it have a name?

It's called the Shadowsea, and numbered the 89th layer of the Abyss because it can be reached from Demogorgon's layer, which is the 88th. Presumedly the hydroloths who "discovered" Demogorgon's layer in the 10th year of Factol Soretti swam down a little further and discovered Dagon's layer shortly afterwards.
