I suppose there's the "draw the map by hand, scan it in, and make a gif/jpg file out of it" method, but that seems like a rather primitive way to go about things these days.

I had assumed as such. But seeing as there were two corpses to raid, I figured however we did it wouldn't be a big deal. I didn't note which sword she grabbed; neither she nor I care much, as she intends to swap it out as soon as she can. Figured you and Zim could figure out which was which.

Now, do any of you fine players have a suggestion about the best way to display a map grid/combat grid in a PbP game like this? In a game I'm running on another site, I made up a small grid in photoshop, with different-colored tokens to mark each player, and uploaded a new image via photobucket for each round of combat. If you have any software of that sort, that's a pretty decent way to go about it, I find. That way you don't have to redraw a new map every round, you'd already have one ready to go every time you need it, with markers for the characters. All you'd really need to worry about is any relevant terrain and enemy markers per encounter, and moving the placeholders each round (which is especially easy if you use layers).

Here you are. Only the last one is displayed as an image on the page. In the interest of keeping the thread from cluttering, I reduced the others to links in my posts. So, starting from the sixth post down, some of my (mourn_of_blades) entries have blue links that'll show the images leading up to the final. And there's a key in each post to denote relevant markers on the maps, with colored text to call attention to additions.

Only in so far as one of Nim's better spells relies on her having a silvered dagger. 
She'll still be effective in combat, but she won't be able to pull off her support role as well as she could otherwise.

Nim really only cares about retrieving three things: The earrings that Dennij gifted her (for sentimental reasons mostly), her Alchemist's Glass (just plain useful and practical) and her Eversmoking Bottle (probably the one thing she'll go to great lengths to retrieve).

[Assume that the spell component pouch holds enough non-rare/non-expensive spell components for 5 castings of any arcane spell the PCs (or NPCs) know, up to spell level 3. That's five total per spell, not 5 per person. In the event of 'arcane focus component that is not consumed in casting,' there'd only be 1 of each in this pouch (and again, nothing rare/expensive.) If you have a question about a particular spell component/focus, feel free to ask.]

For the record, the only conventional components Nim needs are wool, a firefly/phosphorescent material and sweat. I figure that some piece of clothing she's wearing is made of wool and that she unravels a bit of it when she wants to cast either daze or ghost sound. I'm not too worried about being able to find a drop of sweat to cast ray of exhaustion, and we have torches so light is kinda superfluous. The other spells that require components are persistant blade and the tattoo one, and those need costlier components.
