I doubt that Planewalker's legal leway with Wizards of the Coast extends to material produced by Dungeon magazine, under which the Incursion adventure would fall. This is a problem, since Planewalker's prior treatment of the adventure--it happened, but don't mention enough specifics to actually matter--may have worked, but ours will not. We actually get into specifics of the events.

Anyone better at this sort of legal stuff than I? How can we do this project without being shut down for using Pazio's adventure for our own purposes, glorious as they may be?

Could we go around them?

Maybe write up an adventure that is distinctly differant, but in the end has a similar outcome?

Then we use our adventure, which would not be the property of Dungeon.

Or this could be an amazingly bad idea.

Who knows? Maybe we could ask and Pazio would be so flattered that we're basing so much work on the products of their adventure that they'd let us use their IP?

Making our own adventure would work, I suppose, or simply using only the idea that Vlaakith is dead and inventing our own circumstances.

I think asking Pazio is worthwhile, because they did have some other interesting things, like githyanki prestige classes.

Definatly ask Pazio first, but if it turns out to be too difficult, we always have a back door. I'd hate for this section to be shut down by legal issues.

Or, you could ask the person in charge of Planewalker, who knows what our agreements are, and whose neck is on the line if there are copyright violations. (That's me by the way.) Laughing out loud

What is the concern here? It sounds like you want to specifically refer to the events in Incursion, correct? You are fine. As long as you are just making references to it and/or not doing anything more elaborate than a 1-2 page summary, then it's ok. As long as you are not reprinting the adventure or any of the game material of the mini-game or Dragon article, it's ok.

I can contact them to get an official OK, but I am quite confident that we are in the clear. We have built off of Dragon articles before, and the gang over there is exceedingly friendly. It'd also be good even to just let them know just what we are doing over here. Maybe someday we might warrant a mention. Smiling But there's no need to write an all new adventure or anything like that. Carry on.

I know I am reviving an ancient thread here, but my question is directly related to Zjelani's comment above.

Has anyone ever posted a summary of the events in The Lich Queen's Beloved? It looks like it would be kosher to post a summary of the events that effect githyanki history as a whole. I'd be happy to type up an executive summary well within Zjelani's suggested guidelines if it would be helpful. (I assume that the place for that is a new thread?) Knowing the general way things went down will be critical to speculating about what happens afterwards.

Anyway, let me know.

Please do! That way I can take it off my own incredibly huge To Do list! Eye-wink It just kept getting pushed down towards the bottom of the list each week. Smiling
