Chosen Of Mystra

A player in my campaign acquired the Chosen of Mystra Template. Regarding the immunities portion of the template, he has chosen immunity to antimagic field, greater dispel magic, mordenkainen's disjunction and several other spells. I do not beleive the above mentioned spells are possible to be immune too with this template. In the original Forgotten Realms campaign setting book it states in the side bar on page 247 that immunities chosen replicate the spell immunity spell in the Player's Handbook which would disclude these spell choices. The player argues that the Forgotten Realms book is 3.0 edition and that the template he is using is the Dice Freaks template which is 3.5 compatible and does not show any restrictions as to which spells may be chosen. Among the various Chosen of Mystra NPC's throughout all reference material that I am aware of, I do not see that these particular spells have been chosen for the NPC's thus supporting my argument. [b]Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would say you are the GM, so rule it like you see it.

The DM can make whatever decisions he/she wishes, especially when third party material (ie. dice freaks) is involved, given that anything produced by a third party may follow intent guidelines different than thos of the wizards core material.

Besides, generally, when converting from 3e to 3.5e, if there isn't a ruling somewhere that says: 'change it like this' then nothing changes.

Of course, one is somewhat inclined to ask: exactly why would you let a PC have the Chosen of Mystra template int he first place?

I assume you are referring to this part of the spell immunity (from the 3.5SRD):
Quote:
Naturally, that immunity doesn’t protect a creature from spells for which spell resistance doesn’t apply.
So, technically they can choose those spells, they just won't be protected from them. (See how they like that one.)

I can see it for Epic Level campaigning. No mucking about with petty concerns like age-related penalties, sleep, poisons or diseases.

I've seen it in my own games. In the hands of a mature player - it's pretty good.
