China Mieville's New Crobuzon Novels

Has anyone here read Perdido Street Station, The Scar and The Iron Council?

They are steampunk novels set in a city, New Crobuzon, that one could use very much as inspiration in their depiction of Sigil.

If you haven't seen them, please check them out.

Yes, I've read them. They're very good.

Although New Crobuzon is more like Ribcage in many ways (like the giant ribcage overhead, the despotic government, and the portal to Hell).

As I have.

In fact, the culture and mood of the gatetown of Ribcage in my campaign has been influenced significantly by Mieville's depiction of New Crobuzon.

Of the three, Iron Council was a particular favorite.

I haven't read Iron Council yet. Can't wait to get to it.

In that vein, The Etched City by KJ Bishop is quite good also. That is what I'm making my way through right now, before I sink my teeth into Iron Council.

Yes, it is. Surreal, morally ambiguous, sphinx-loving fun was had by all.

Also see The Physiognomy by Jeffrey Ford.

That sounds awesome.

Thanks.
