Charity Money Rejected Due to Ties with D&D

I'm sad and speechless. $17,000 can help a lot of children.

True, but that particular

True, but that particular charity is not very efficient.  I think something like 80% of the money they take in goes for their own internal operating costs.  What I don't understand is why they took G. Gygax's money while he was alive, if they are so 'principled'.

Does the CCF only support

Does the CCF only support Christian children?

damn it I'm chiming in

damn it I'm chiming in though I worry this will become a political/religious discussion if we're not careful...

I also wondered if they had known who Gygax was.  I can understand the concern from their point of view - it simply does not agree with their beliefs - though I disagree wholeheartedly with it.

As a Pandaist (I worship a giant Panda) it would like giving me money from Panda Burger for charity...

Speaking with regards to

Speaking with regards to D&D, I don't think there was any need for hate mail and hope most people sent cordial disagreements.

I thought it would be perfectly reasonable for a charity to reject a donation from a group that might tar its image to other donors and cost it a great deal. The last thing we should be doing is fulfilling the stereotype of the anti-social/anti-Christian.

The goal should be educating people about D&D's heroic roots, not lashing out at people who might have a preconceived notion of the game. Unless of course they didn't take the donation because it was raised using the 4e version of the game. Eye-wink
