Can anybody clue me in as to the Illuminians? A race that used to live in Shom?

In the 4E MOTP there is a brief mention of a race called the Illuminians (or some such) that once inhabited the dominion of Shom. Wasn't there a PC race of that name in 3.5 D&D? I can't remember which suplement... If anybody can tell me anything about them (like what book they were in), I'd greatly appreciate it... maybe it was the expanded Psionics book?

Illumians are a race that I really wished just went away in 4e (along with Wildren), only because I like the Elan far more than them.

They never really struck me as anything interesting back when they were introduced in 3e, and I'd much rather prefer that creepy Elan with their psionic metabolisms and aberrant origins over the Illumians and whichever part of Pelion they faded away in.

At least I'll probably get my wish with the Wildren (it's Wildren, not Wilden the PHB3 playtest race) as no one seems to remember them, and good riddance to them.  May the Shifters of the Beastlands completely make everyone forget about them ever existing.

Here here, Avenger! The Beastlands are my favorite plane, so I thought the Wildren would be neat...

And they, uh. Weren't.

Poor Beastlands. It deserves better than scary dwarf-furries.

That's why you should use Shifters.  In 4e they're core, and in 3e it never mattered if they were an Eberron race or not.

I haven't looked past the PHB much for 4e yet, and they didn't seem that bad in 3.5.  A little boring, and "dwarf + celestial badger" was oddly specific for the concept as described, but not awful.  Why are they so horrible in 4e?

Wildren don't exist yet in 4e. Kobold Avenger just doesn't like them in general.

I like illumians, personally, and I'm with Idran on the subject of wildren. I suppose they just need more detail to jazz them up with, if it's worth the bother. Some history of how they came to be and why they're worth using.
