Book of Fiends

Hello all,

Haven't gamed in a long time, but I've always liked the cosmology aspect of the game and followed the development of the planes in 3E.  I thought some of the 3rd party contributions were also interesting, especially Green Ronin's Book of Fiends.  I'm curious if any of you used any of the Green Ronin source material and how it went?  Their Gehenna-dwelling entities are quite different from the Yugoloths, though I imagine would could incorporate them both into a system were the NE Green Ronin creatures are just Yugoloths more interested in mortal affairs?

Cheers! ~Tau

I would use the Green Ronin

I would use the Green Ronin daemons as hordlings, personally. Hordlings are made from mortal souls, and thus have more reason to be interested in mortals.

Ah yes, hordlings, that

Ah yes, hordlings, that makes more sense.  They are kind of the "forgotten fiends" as I don't remember them appearing too much in the published sources, but that would work well.  I once had a campaign idea to have the Book of Keeping (my memory could be failing me, but I believe that's the one which unleashes masses of hordlings upon a Prime world?) cause some kind of epic disaster/struggle, but my players didn't seem too interested in that kind of campaign at that time.

What did you think of the Green Ronin material?

The Book of Keeping is a

The Book of Keeping is a book full of yugoloth truenames.  The Bringer of Doom is an artifact that unleashes masses of hordlings.

I liked the Green Ronin material! Very atmospheric and detailed, and new planar creatures are always welcome. The Hordes of Gehenna part was probably the strongest, actually. The daemons don't even have to be explained at all, technically; they could just be enigmatic fiends the PCs encounter in Sigil (or anywhere). Nobody needs to know where they come from.
