To what purpose?
BoG'r OOC.
Dramatic effect?
Eeuhm...

Hugs Azure fervently !!!
One a more serious note; I am all for the black fleet... (after reading the updates about 3x)
I wiil put a post up tomorrow
cool!
I still love this game. No regrets, ever!
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss. If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose. If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Lol, well, 3 of the 5, its a start (not incl. the Dm )
Well, thats a bit more of insight lol, then what I mostly post, heh..
will post tomorrow
no worries
ok I guess I lied a little late but it's there
No worries blade, at least we are a posting..
Anybody have thoughts about how we can start off on this one?
Hrrmm well since the party is split for now, I suggest we try going off on the tensions in the group's adjustments to being in their respective fleets.

I think we should quickly inspect the githyanki and graith rabble we have inherited and make sure they realize who is in command.
Well, a few considerations ...
Are you going to dump the graith from the black fleet like the other fleets did?
How 'heavy handed' is your command going to be? (especially initially, i.e. BEFORE you're out in open seas)
You have one NPC, Na'rai of Jade, sharing command. That is, unless Weishan comes back to play her, in which case she'll be a PC again. Note that Na'rai has a cohort of elite Jade troops around her, about half a dozen, to help carry out and enforce (if need be) her orders. Now, Ii'jyka'vaar is a Knight, and Kirath is a Warlock, so in classical githyanki command structure they would normally be subservient to the overall force commander, which would probably be Na'rai. How the command is going to shake out in this case, however, probably won't be as simple as that.
@ Bladedancer: yea that sounds good, I guess I could start with that..gimme a few days to formulate, and we will
@ Azure, hmmz.. food for thought..
Could you give an kind of overview?
Wish Ya'shenn/ Zimmy would return to us,
(power struggle, anybody..?) lol.
Na'rai of Jade is a Heartforce commander from the Astral who came to deliver the news that illithid were in Hlondeth, and join in the raid. She is not particularly liked by the other githyanki here, because the Heartforce generals are monopolizing the color pools back to the Astral, requiring any refugees to swear loyalty and subservience to themselves as the price of passage. Na'rai seems to be a competent commander and warrior, with a loyal squad at her command.
One way of looking at it, I suppose, but that place to 'flock to' would probably be ashore in Starmantle. Think about it; are you going to try to pack your ships with extra graith, so that when you get to Urmlaspyr there's no room for githyanki? The other commands are dumping many of their graith and cargo/booty to make more room for githyanki refugees. Anyway, are the pirates of the black fleet going to welcome a bunch newcomers aboard? What, so their booty can get split more? Not likely. Also realize that the graith pirates loyalty to YOU is zero at this point. The githyanki of the black fleet MAY just CHOOSE to follow you, but remember how well Pale's conscription of your party went over ...
I think taking command of the black fleet will be significantly more messy than you realize.
I was going to do this all in-game, and still will, but perhaps it would be best if I was more overt with my suggestions. We can say these suggestions come from the other commanders and from Na'rai. Of course, I don't want to be too controlling, either. Your characters can decide how to go about things themselves, and take or leave any suggestions I make.
Thanks for the quick response,
Maybe we can not take all graith, but also not dump all, take the best few to fill the ship with competence and then get the heck out of dodge?
I assume we have now all the stuff we "could buy etc" in this port? if so, then I have my +17 Intimidate that might help? That, and a Wyvern "Pet" helps, lol.
Reply in progress...

Do we know anything at all about the mismatched githyanki that are willing to join the black fleet?
Am a little stuck, lol.. am thinking hard how to post and what..
The graith are a different matter, however. The barbarian pirates of the Black Fleet are just that. They are happy to let the githwarriors act as boarders; they are effective and willing to take on the danger, and the gith care little for monetary wealth (they tend to keep weapons and practical items instead). There is little doubt that there will be a mutiny or two somewhere along the line. Best advice: take the fastest / most easily manned surface ships and any flying Astral ships, and have a smaller but effective force that is still able to evacuate other githyanki. There should be enough githyanki willing to follow you that you can kick all the graith off a couple of the best sailing ships.
Kicking around a few NPC ideas ...
Feel free to contribute lower-powered githyanki with name/class/personality/distinguishing feature.
We will have to decide OOC how many graith you want to keep: (a) Nearly all of them (b) cull a few, but leave the crews basically intact (c) Choose the best, and the best ships (d) Only take a chosen few of the very best graith sailors (e) All githyanki
If you choose (a), you can leave with just about the entire fleet, but a few ships are damaged and in port now. You'd get an additional frigate and two galleys, but would be slower and more prone to graith mutiny. (b) gets you the flagship, Pride, which is a frigate, two galleys (slower but with more cargo space), and six smaller sloops. (c) Gets you the flagship and five sloops. (d and e) both get you the flagship and three sloops. In any case, other commands will send a few chosen githyanki to help man the ships. You also get a single astral skiff, which can scout for the fleet. In options (c,d, and e) your fleet can keep up with the other fleets.
BTW the other commands have issued orders that amount to options (c) or (d) for themselves, except the Silver, who were nearly 100% githyanki to start with.
A)No, in retrospect your comments seem logical, and not taking the whole fleet allows the humans not 100% loyal to have an outlet to "flee" to.
B)Seems good, because they are loyal to each other, and it shows we care enough to respect that, but it might mean to many underlings, and not enough power at the top to control them...
C)logical
D)logical
E)Not to bothered, Graith can be useful, and Ii'Jyka knows the Gith are low in numbers.
I say c is our best option. I will post up some npc ideas tomorrow as I am dming my drow game so most of my creative juices are flowing for that.
I concur that C is the best option. I'll brew up some NPC crew. Give me a list of crew needed (i.e Chief Medical Officer, Requisitions Officer, Gunner's Mate, etc, cook) and I will fire them off.

I've already given a few npc concepts, so no need for me atm to flood our DM with such thoughts I guess.. lol.
I am frustrated that I am struggling to come up with a nice post, but be patient, I will, I must
Not to worry. In fact, it might be helpful to keep that place-holder and let BS post, then fill in later. Basically, a short speech and a statement that Ii'jyka'vaar, Kirath, and Na'rai are taking over the Black Fleet.
You may also want to continue a discussion here. Now that you know that you are only taking the fastest ships, you can state something to that effect. Also, are you indeed following the other fleets to Sembia for evacuation purposes?
Thinking out loud... {to be edited}

Working on a few graith, some githyanki crew and some specialists. Let me know what levels you want. I'll PM you the list as soon as it's complete as I'm a bit swamped with finals.
In other news, today is my 25th birthday

I might do 1 captain btw.. maybe that will give me ideas for a post..
Happy B-Day CG!
Hello, all!
I'm one of the "original" players. I'll be returning to the team with the Black Fleet. Looking forward to the scene change and the fun to be had with the group. BOG'r is by far one of my most favorite games I've ever played.
Wanted to chime in and say, "Happy Bday!" to CG. Otherwise, I've been lurking until you guys sort out your leadership predicament.
-Ben
That's like throwing cold water in someone's face , sudden appearance..
With Sloop, you mean a tiny vessel "Sloop"or the bigger "Sloop-of-war"?,
if the first, I dont want them, they are to small and crap
Note for self:

Apologies, BS. I was waiting for an opportunity for a formal introduction into the crew, but didn't want to miss the chance to wish CG a happy birthday.
BS, Azure and Benyamin ~ Whoa! Thanks for all the birthday well-wishes guys! I had a fantastic day! With my finals nearly done I'm planning to read over the entire RPG just for the hell of it. Your posts along with those of Zimmy, Bladedancer, Azriael, Dunamin and the rest of the warband are what made me decide to join in.

I wish Zimmy came back, she was good...
Glad to hear! Finals nearly over is a pleasant "gift" as well, I'm sure.
Yes, it was rereading those stories and characters (and retelling them to friends) that brought me back. BOG'r has a charm all of its own, and I'm glad you enjoyed our part in it enough to join in!
Aye, I wished she was still around to get to meet her (she came in after I left)--as well as the original crew. Everyone was a riot both in and out of character.
10' by 10'
Rereading "way back when" in the OOC, catching up on all I've missed (sigh). You guys had a blast in Squiddytown.
In moments like these, as Jhank'kor's player, I would have been honor bound to cast "Sudden Empowered Fireball" just to make sure Lavendar died quickly. That one time in Haven Port was due to Sight's mind tricks...Yeah, that explains why he did that...
I did fine with Lavendar with out crazy fireballs thankyouverymuch
Who's head is in my bag atm, along with some others
Need to make an item out of that
A wyvern riding helmet might be good.
And, BS, congratulations on being our 4000th poster. *Hands BS plaque*
Well I was thinking of openly challenging Pale/Mist (not in battle unless it was the only way).
