I've noticed the group dynamic of the party has not recognized a clear leader, but rather a collection of individuals each asserting himself. Excellent and IC!
BoG'r OOC.
just breaking the flow of comments here. I'm gone until saturday the 21st. Azure, I don't know how you want to handle absent players, but anything's fine.
Your PC will be a temp NPC, like Xar'Sauken (who incidently did a VERY good job of keeping any more illithid from fleeing the same route as the ulitharid and PCs.)
Ok, Dun, you can have whatever black juju you brought to the game back...it's going to be my character killed.
JK. Seems like I've been racking in the natural ones of late...and I couldn't see how to jimmy my character out of that mess.

Sorry Ben, I'll have my local gobbo adept get on it right away (I also did a double natural ones in Duckluck's campaign lately).
On the bright side, though, I'm rolling great right now - 58 damage for a full attack on the illithid mage!

Thanks...at the moment we are deciding on the menu for the campaign--barbequed mage or blood-drained chal.
And yes, that is a nasty set of rolls you have hit there
I think your gobbo needs to go back to school and re-earn his adept degree...he's mixed it up, giving you back some bad rolls! :\
But I'm thankful for the nat 20, so don't cast Slay Lemming just yet.
Sorry guys, I broke the building
Eh...I think someone is trying to earn kudos with the Doomguard.
Whatever works. If you made that ref save, then it would have been just the stairs, but I figured the stairway couldn't take a fully-armored githyanki falling on it too.
I think it made for a great scene, so no protests from me.
Same here! Nothing like dropping three flights of stairs on your enemy to make a cinematic beauty.
My group around here (the Misfits in my signature) just fought on the roof of an ice cavern in the paraelemental plane of ice because our mage seems to have no concept of protecting party members in the area of his spells...A beautiful scene, but we almost lost our party leader when the same mage threw three maximized and empowered fireballs into the ceiling...bringing down thirty layers of ice on each side of the anti-gravity well.
In the interest of poking fun at Ben and Trias, I think it’s high time I pointed out this one.
Though if the opportunity arises, I’d probably also have Du’minh go for some gith thang faster than you can say “double standards”
Yeah, I thought it might be more appropriate to move chatter of this nature to here in the OOC thread.
That was good, Dun.
Ouch...that put a horrid taste in my mouth.
Talk about icing the flames there.
Oh well, Jhank'kor doesn't get a subscription to Twenty Sided, so he'll continue his pursuit of a Mrs Dark.
...Ironically, I never gave him a last name, only a street title. lol.
It was my impression that rather than last names githyanki have "fortress names", relating to where they serve(d), but I guess that's not terribly relevant for Git'riban locals.
Most of my characters only have single names anyhow, sometimes due to laziness, sometimes due to this being the way of the culture in question.
Hahaha...yeah, those ladies love a guy who can read their body language and see them without having to take 20
Don't knock those natural 1's, they keep the DM entertained.
Don't knock those natural 1's, they keep the DM entertained.
If was not a DM myself, I would stand upon the PHB and shout my heart out against it...instead I'll smile and say, "more please"
Kinda freaky how many natural ones we're going through, though...
I think that gobbo adept of mine will have to pay a visit to a little portal to the Negative Energy Plane...
LOL!
This could end up a planescape story in itself.
Ok...this is killer. I soooo wanna continue this lady hunt (20 or so Athasians aren't likely to withstand a few fireballs and lightning bolts)...but I don't want to leave my battle buddies.
So, lookin' to y'all here for help on finding the compromise option C in this A\B situation.
try a perform check to make it look like you're struggling with an unseen ghaik, wipe out the Athasiasns - then declare that you are back in control of your mind.
LOL!
I gotta say, you guys are doing some awesome IC stuff.
However, violent society or no, I don't think wiping out a good portion of her tribe is going to turn this lady on to you. Hell, if she weren't so drained right now, she might stay and exchange digits, but her ride is leaving.
Rest asured, she lives in the 'hood, so you'll be seeing her again (perhaps sooner than you think ... )
If I wouldn't get insane penalties from my lovely tattoo (that I requested, I might add , that would be great.
Instead it would look like I was dancing with air and prolly end up a beautiful skewered meal for a table of twenty Athasian giths.
Rest asured, she lives in the 'hood, so you'll be seeing her again (perhaps sooner than you think ... )
I wonder what her curfew is...
Anywho, guess I better get back to the group before they too antsy about their mage pulling solo runs--besides, someone has to teach me where the off button on my brain blender is (ghaik manuals are too blasted alien to read...knew I shoulda stayed with the Japanese tatt)
Ben, good to see you regaining some measure of control over your “magic wand”
(read: realizing continued stalking would result in Jhank’kor’s demise)
You don’t want to go through constant violent head-aches ringing through your skull and then try anything fancy with an amazingly destructive woman of savage cannibalizing gith.
Definitely, the campaign is great!
and right when we thought we could breathe, we've got a rat problem!
Absolutely, It's the first thing I check when I log in. Top work so far Azure!

Thanx. There are still a bunch of plot twists and interesting characters to come, too.
If we maintain, I have a few more ideas as well ...
Blades of Git'riban: Curst With Knowledge
Blades of Git'riban: Eyes of the Void
btw - love the undead cranium rat's great idea and nicely written.

You can count me in for any future githyanki goodies, Azure.
I check in on the campaign several times throughout the day, though it seems the “rush hours” happen when it’s night at my place.

Likewise, just out of curiosity where are you guys posting from? I'm in Melbourne Australia.

I leave y'all alone for one day and all of you start picking up chicks...boy, Jhank'kor just needs to learn the value of waiting for the gal to walk up to him--might need to take a chance at that myself.
Back to the real issues...Major kudos for the awesome game, Azure! And yes, it seems like the late eve and early-mid morning are high times for posting where my kip is, here in the South Eastern, USA.
Glad to be chillin' with all of you in this wonderful hovel; maybe we will get to roast some cranium rats over a warlock's fireball sometime soon.
Denmark, Copenhagen (GMT +1).
EDIT: Considering how far apart we live, I wouldn't have considered simultaneous posting an issue... Spooky
See, Azure, we are so addicted we end up posting at all hours of the day.
Heh… makes you reflect on how little time if takes for players to jump at any notion of a female NPC.
Likewise, just out of curiosity where are you guys posting from? I'm in Melbourne Australia.
New York. Upstate (outside the city) actually. I've always wanted to see Australia someday...

Yeah we like it down here, PM me if you come across I'll let you know where to steer clear of.

Ah, I have family within a short car drive from there. Plenty of woodland opportunities abound in those hills.
LOL..this is my first character to have the background/personality to chase women. My first character was a being of positive energy with enough drama (like the trapped souls of his wife and son hating on him two thousand years after the fact) that he doesn't need another gal.
Besides that, my other characters have not found a proper circumstance for such intrigue. lol.
Eh, it'll make better table conversation than rambling on about a corpse queen.
note: Jhank'kor's loyalty is to the crown; not all creatures of Git'Riban are here from lack of service...
Hahaha, so true
this, is also true

Az, I take it your character doesn't think much of warlocks? Just wondering.
I happened to come across Complete Arcane while drifting through the bookstore yesterday and sat down to read a bit. The way they rank warmages would be as a prestigious order, their training done more like a boot camp than a lofty academy.
The idea is that the mages were drilled in war, forced to practice high level spells in constricting gear. Though they couldn't cast the spells, it impressed them into the subject's subconscience, from which he could draw from as he grew in power. Thus, you remove the need for a spell book at the cost of having fewer spells.
An interesting concept that I somehow didn't perceive...but it makes Jhank'kor's history more poignant.
Besides that, my other characters have not found a proper circumstance for such intrigue. lol.
Well, I've always strived to be a good writer, and I'm using lots of tried and true plot devices (if you know what to look for). One theme you learn over and over, in literature, psychology, biology (I've a B.S. in that one), etc:
Question - What makes the World go Round? Answer- S - E - X
So, though I'm a straight male (though anyone who thinks human sexuality is black-and-white and not a continuum is a dolt), I can do fiction, and put myself in another's mindset for the sake of the story.
In my first (and sort of ongoing) planescape campaign, the A#1 protagonist has picked up an interesting conundrum ...
... does he chase the Elvin Adventuress who's every bit his equal but disappears on dangerous missions of her own (and incidently is a little too young for him, being a maiden of only about 100 years). He's really in to her but she treats him like a "friend with benefits." (which, off camera, they've never gone ALL the way, though they've done everything short of it)
... or does he keep getting more and more serious with the aasimar he rescued from the foul clutches of the illithid. She's kind of smitten with his badboy-indep-mercinary-with-a-good-heart attitude ("sigh, my hero"). She's a guvner (Single Female Lawyer!), has connections and a big family back on Celestia. In fact, everybody in the family likes Alec (the PC) ... EXCEPT THE MOM. Of course the aasimar girl's a good girl, and so far its been dinner and theatre dates around Sigil. She's much more the 'settle down and have a family' type, though there's a strong adventurous streak there as well (she DID move to the big city after all)
Now there's a tale worth telling. lol. Wouldn't happen to have a story hours or session write-up??
Alas no, not yet. There would be several chapters to that Campaign ...

Well, not that this really belongs in this thred buuuuuut ...
My favorite adventure was a fairly recent one, where the PCs revisited the Storm Realm (Beyond Countless Doorways by M. Cook, W. Baur, C. McComb and R. Vallese). They'd befriended some (surprisingly competant, if a bit barmy) Tinker Gnomes on their first visit, and Alec (PC) had time to wander around their floating island town. He had the good idea of asking one of the locals what there was to see.
"You should go see the Water Clock."
"Where's the Waterclock?"
"Down by the Reservoir, of course."
"Of course..."
The Water Clock turned out to be a clock make of water (... of course), but when he acted impressed a random local tells him,
"You think that's impessive, you should see the Sundial."
"Where's the Sundial?"
"Up at the Solar Observatoy, of course."
"Of course."
Of course the Sun Dial ended up being a huge collection of lenses and filters (controled with a dial, one setting simply labeled "NO!") that modified the rays of the suns (yes, plural on this world).
And so it went, with visits to the Firehouse (museum dedicated to fires that won't go out), the Hanging Gardens (reverse gravity field), The Munitions Factory (where they reserch "facts" about munitions and explosions), The Bell Tower (tower made of bells), and finally the Planetarium (where they can open gates to various planes).
Those are just the ones I remember well, all the players were coming up with these plays on words, and we were in stiches the whole adventure.
A B.S. as well, then.
