Should I assume that your available-times-for-posting may be limited for a while? Especially since I made several information requests of the DM recently.

Just to clarify something name wise:

Dhar'Gi'Ghaaz was a name i created for another game, and was used as written, the 'Gi' is not a reference to the gi in Gith, it is part of his whole name, so he is not the student of Ghaaz..., he is Dhar'Gi'Ghaaz, fully, completely and utterly Smiling

Aww. You see, BoGr already has a Grazz (the Accursed) and a G'az (Telas-Niah's departed lover). A Ghaaz would be a nice addition.

Can Ya'shenn make a new Psicraft check (maybe a take 20?) to see if there's anything else she can find out about the array? Particularly whether anything about it poses a continued danger?

Sorry about the absence. My internet doesn't get connected until Sunday and work's really busy because I have an unexpected trip to the states coming up in a few weeks.

Is there anything cool to see/do in Nebreska/Iowa in April?

Taking 20 would require doing research, but by taking 10 I can give you the following info ...

The Array seems to recieve, not transmit, or the illithid minding it would not have had to transport the crystals. The fact they had 'blanks' to trade out when a crystal was full indicates this is the norm.

The amount on a record crystal is about constant, but since the thralls gave out info at different rates, the time spans varried. The Dreamer only 'transmitted' while asleep, so his are the fewest. Mim was the most proliffic, as he was (not surprisingly) rather talkative. All in all, there is over a week's worth of Mim, and a little under a week's worth from the Entertainer and Miik'ka each. The Dreamer's crystals are impossible to tell how long a time span. From this and other clues, the illithid would have had to completely change out the record crystals every two weeks at most. Also, it seems the two illithid the party encountered had been at their post about a week, having had one of their meals on site (the metal containers, did anyone grab them?)

BTW, I was considering waiting 'till Ya'shenn tried to put the array back into working order, then show the Entertainer's assassination LIVE! However, that's not where post flow went, so there are no thralls left in range to monitor.

Lack of posts makes me sad. Sad

So, to stimulate discussion, screenwriter DM is making the following announcement. The Party has to go through the Mudshow to hit all the rooms, not just on the way out. The consensus was Brothel-Packing House-Palace, but the Mudshow has to make up one of those transitions. I will hear suggestions, but right now I'm leaning towards Bothel-Packing House-Mudshow-Palace. The party is sure to make a real scene with the royals that way.

2nd order of business; yay or nay on Lahar joining the party?

+'s: DM likes running 2 NPCs. He's really good at setting fires. He's got a backstory and is a much deeper character than you guys realize. The PCs next meeting with him will be a scene in itself.

-'s: The PCs next meeting with him will be a scene in itself. He's on a higher order of power than the PCs, though rather focused on fire and not much else, though he is rather good with a blade too.

Put me in the "Nay" camp, for the reasons I've mentioned previously:

'Dunamin' wrote:
Well, I think all the involved NPCs are interesting but I’d rather not fight directly alongside them. Combat slows down with more combatants, and victory feels more hollow when outside forces aided – especially if they’re more powerful than the PCs, which Lahar appears to be.

Sent you a PM, Wei.

I'd love to see Mud Show, though I doubt Ya'shenn will be very useful there.

Lahar: I can see the merit in the "Yeah, he's too high-level" argument. I wouldn't mind future encounters with the guy (maybe not in the upcoming battle, dunno), though with a title like "Firebringer" he makes Ya'shenn rather nervous.

Money: Ya'shenn doesn't have huge amounts of it, but will contribute to the cause as needed.

As an aside, I'm kind of looking forward to putting Ya'shenn's "thrall suppression" skills to work.

Just as a random aside, if those Tamers were getting a square meal every week, it's a sure sign that either Illithid House in general, or Sigil's Tamer Creed in particular, are well-fed and prosperous. Which wouldn't surprise me.

Well, I always figured slavery is legal in Sigil, but the legality and existance of the institution as being much more complex than, say in the Roman Empire or even the colonial southern US.

Owning slaves is legal, buying and selling them is legal as a contract between the owners, but taking slaves or re-capturing escapees is considered assault and kidnapping. If a slave-owner has legal, official, concrete evidence of ownership from a large, stable nation, than they might get off with just 'disturbing the peace' which is likely to be a fine nearly as large as the value of the slave. The other problem for the slaver is the 'official' part. Prime-world nations the courts haven't heard of are no good, and Sigil itself does not officially regulate a slave trade or order certificates of ownership.

It all adds up to this for the slaver: Don't get caught. Don't let 'em get away. Get 'em out of Sigil quick. Or, you could register your slaves with the Baatezu, their contracts are iron-clad (literally?).

Econonic slavery is much more common. For example, the 'workers' in the Hive Brothel are technicly not slaves, as they are given a very small amount of jink from their pimps. Too little to get very far, of course, if they left.

Ar'dru's always happy to add to his collection of incendiaries, especially if they come at a bulk purchase discount! Laughing out loud

I've got a bit of cash but would appreciate any donations from the group since I'm a little out of pocket from the garnish needed to get by in Baator.

I don't really mind if Lahar joins in but I would probably pick the nay side of the fence to avoid getting splinters. Smiling

I'm actually a little unsure of Du'minh's "unbound" economy - had the impression I've spent most of it on upgrading his cloak of resistance and replacing his potion of cure serious wounds.

I suppose one could cash in the blades from the last two ghaiks we fought, but I'm not sure if that would take too long. Before that I'd request any of the psi-guys to look if they were imbued with psionics, though (Du'minh only could tell they were non-magical).

Have been a bit busy and will try to post later today. And maybe Ya'shenn could do a Psicraft check on the weapons before the group heads out (in case anyone wants to wield one, the shortsword in particular may be nice).

Sorry for the bit of slowness there. I'm OK with advancing the story, though I'd like to know more about the purply-glowing illithid-wrought weapon too.

I'll have to go through Ya'shenn's equipment again to see how much jink she has lying around, though I vaguely recall having a decent amount.

Sadly, I think the whole "the group scorched part of the place, covered another part in sleet, and beat one of the patrons within an inch of his life" thing might make that a little difficult. Laughing out loud

Hello again

I'll just give you the skinny on the 'thid blades. The scimitars are just a well-made (masterwork) matched set. The shortsword is a psionic weapon which drains hp on a critical strike (any strike if wielded by an illithid).

To move things along, I think we're done with the present scene ... any objections to doing a fade-out?

Don't have much to add right now:

A fade-out is fine.
I never really established where Ya'shenn keeps her 'liquid' money. If it's at her place (I doubt she'd normally carry it all on her), she'd stop by there before the raid.
Daraz's idea is a good one.

Yes, probably in her apartment. She can stop there with Daraz, or he can wait outside for her. She lives near the Square of the Mind, a large public space, remember.

I encourage you and and Weishan to come up with your own mini-adventure. That is, write a few IC posts (poke-poke) showing what Ya'shenn and Daraz do. There are no DM-made encouters before the alchemists' shop, but feel free to make up something that fits into the setting of traveling through Sigil. The party will have to leave Gitr'riban and travel through the Guildhall Ward and the Clerks' Ward. The alchemist is in Sandstone Square ...

The Sandstone District: This area has well-made sandstone buildings and walled courtyards. It was one of the most prosperous districts in the Clerks' Ward, dispite the fact that it bordered on the Hive. It had a well-made wall, thirty-three foot high, separating it from the slums. No wall, however, can stop the relentless march of poverty. The Sandstone District, so close to the Hive, was targeted be desperate criminals for its wealth. The residents fortified their homes further, or moved to other neighborhoods. The vacant buildings filled with squatters, and eventually the economy tanked. Now the Sandstone District is held up as an example by those who say the Hive Ward is growing. The buildings and streets still have the strong, simple elegance of the Clerks' Ward, but it is considered the Hive Ward by all Sigilans. At the near edge is Sandstone Square. Here the two Wards mesh. While the Sandstone District is considered "one of the best neighborhoods in the Hive", Sandstone Square is more like "the worst neighborhood in the Clerks' Ward". Here, businesses and professionals hold out in the face of anarchy. Of course, most of those businesses and professionals that have remained (or moved in) cater to Hivers and Under-Sigilans with jink to spend. There is a Key Shop, two Shiv-Shops, an Armorer, and an Alchemist, all very large affairs occupying several huge, sandstone buildings.

Fear not, citizen!

Plot summary follows -

Ii'Jyka'Vaar will accompany Gy-Nath out of Git'riban, meeting with the rest of the party at the alchemist shop in Sandstone Square. From there, Ii, Gy, and Du'minh will go to a portal they (somehow) know leads into the heart of the Hive Brothel in the Marble District of the Hive Ward. By then, Ar'dru will be ready to drop fire from the sky as a diversion, and Ya'shenn & Daraz will have infultrated in disguise. The signal to attack will be the loud explosion from Ar'dru. Tha plan is to use the distraction to sieze the next portal further into the house. Any illithids in the Hive Brothel will likely try to flee, running into the githyakis' blades.

To Wei & Zim: If you don't come up with an idea for a disguise soon, Gy-Nath will suggest something, but that means you will lose out on your chance to be creative in-character Sad It will also mean there will be a slight change of plan and you won't get to infultrate in the front door, as he'd suggest you go through the portal with most of the rest of the party.
