Actually... I bet if an illithid could design a brain that could 'feel' pain relating to itself, that illithid would be rich.

Second, is 'Burning Mind' the name of an Order, an individual title, or would Ya'shenn not know?
(Also, whee!)
1) 'Firebringer' is a Vlaakith-granted title (slightly unusual therefore for him to say "of Bloodstone" along with it ) for a front-line leader of raids and armies. The title of a minor general, behind "Queen's Champion", "Leader of Knights" or even "Master Gish". Think colonel-rank, but depending greatly on personal power, as he would likely be in change of the first wave of a major attack.
2) "The Burning Mind" sounds more like the self-granted title of an ego ...
Thanks!

Someone may want to behead Street and Portal (if Portal is intact enough to behead) and maybe do the necromantic speak-with-dead thing later. I don't think that Ya'shenn, with her Knowledge: Arcana of 0, would necessarily think of it, though.
(And we should search the dead ghaik, and check out the room with the 'array,' too.)

Sorry for leaving you out of things there, Azriael. Ar'dru's adventure has pretty much run its course. After the bleeding, Lind doesn't need him anymore, he's rested and eaten, and timing-wise if he has to hurry to make it back to Gy-Nath's to meet up with the others.
The meeting scene shouldn't be long in coming, I'll try and make dialogue with Lahar go quickly ... notice how I introduced him as Ar'dru was away from the party.
{edit} Want me to come up with a sum-up post for Ar'dru at Lind's?
To Weishan: I am giving you the choice of keeping or dumping Daraz. If he lacks the will to live, you can have a go at another PC, but said PC must be githyanki, and will enter as an aquaintance of Gy-Nath.
If Daraz lives, he will aquire one or more of the following:
Slippery Mind Feat
Free ranks in escape artist
A Psi-like ability
A psychosis

No probs, the fight was plenty interesting enough to watch as a spectator and Ar'dru got to do some fighting in Avernus so he'll only be a little bit miffed that he missed a chance to fight ghaik. I'm not really fussed if you want to do a wrap-up or not with Lind I don't think that needs to be developed any more (for now).
Oh and yeah I noticed Lahar's arrival grumble.. stupid pretty boy half dragon... mumble.. doesn't even have wings, I have wings... grumble ... probably only a quarter dragon at best ... grumble

I hope that Daraz sticks around, but I do kinda hope that someday we get a Gith Pirate in the party (either a new player or an NPC). We need somebody to deliver lines like "Yarr, let's keelhaul them filthy land-squids!"

I'd rather be playing a gith pirate in retrospect. I created a character without many RPing options, which is a bit bothersome. As it is, I have to find a reason to transition from hateful and paranoid to hateful and a well developed character.
Your character can be both paranoid and well developed though!
And I'm sure the experience of coming incredibly close to being violently de-brained would change anybody...

That would be my excuse, yes.
Umm, do you realize just how close Daraz was to having his central nervous system tore out? Ya'shenn was dead last in the initiative order. Had she failed to kill 'Street', he'd have been next. At a minimum, the top of Daraz's skull is dissolved away in several places. He might want to wear a turban or something for awhile.
I realize, ya. She was the last person to go before the start of round 5.
I wasn't sure as to the extent of the physical damage in this extreme case. (Speaking of which, given what you describe, even if he escaped brain extraction, I assume his wounds would normally be eventually fatal without treatment.)

[OK, waiting on results for the potion. If he's still badly off it may be time to visit Transcendent Way.]
Now, a while back, I deducted 1 power point for manifesting trinket, a 0-level power. If there's one 'free' 0-level power left (she burned a lot of missives and a burst, remember), Ya'shenn would have 4 power points remaining (not 3), which would be just enough for one round of empathic transfer + body adjustment.
(Of course, if she does that, she may very well start screaming and losing her lunch.)

Yes, that is true. In fact I'd say you'd have to take Daraz's -3 penalty too.
Now, interestingly, rules-wise little damage was done Other than the initial 2 tenticles (d4+1, but I forget the actual damage they did) it was all grapple. Of course that's preposterous. So DM ruling is thus: Daraz's potion will actually take care of hp damage done, but without very specific and specialized care very soon, he has a 100% chance to develop a very nasty disease that will take his life, likely in a prolonged and painful manner. Ya'shenn healing him would make him more fit for travel, and reduce the disease chance to 50% ant take away the "very soon", but he really needs to be brought to a clinic (incidently, the best one in Git'riban is the one Gy took Jhank'kor to). He's not up for climbing back up the pipe, (unless Ya'shenn heals him) but anybody can help him out of the sewer and escort him down to Trancendant Way, and Ya'shenn can catch up with them after inspecting the 'array', if she doesn't want to spend her last psi points.
...Heh, I'm actually halfway through writing a post. Would healing him put Ya'shenn at the same risk of horrible horrible disease (my guess would be a combination of encephalitis and meningitis) and such?
If not, she'd do the healing, but if it would, it'd make the situation even worse. (I'm OK with her healing him, but there'd be no sense in doing it if it'd result in two desperately sick people. So I wanted to check first.)

What she'd do is absorb that 50% chance of contracting the disease(s), then heal herself.
She was planning on healing herself imediately, right?

Thought you'd all like that one. Like I said, I never even read the books, but he's so iconic, I can't help but poke. I even have a backstory for these two: 'Street' is in fact from Faerun's underdark, and has studied drow styles, because they are available to learn. 'Portal' is from somewhere else (hence why they argued), and in fact had a couple of rogue levels to 'Street's fighter levels.

Ew!
I kind of wanted to have enough oomph left for detect psionics, but I was like, "Would she really leave Daraz in this horrible condition?" And I was like, "Nah." Perhaps Knowledge/Psi, Psicraft, or if those fail, dumping them in front of Gy-Nath might help to identify the loot.

Be careful which one you go to. Some may claim that Street was just trying to help Daraz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trepanation
hmm, not a bad career choice for an illithid actually.

Urban Planescape idea! An illihid brain surgeon. Character based on a cross between Dr. Zoidburg and Dr Romano (evil prick from ER), with a good dose of Dr. Hanabul Lector
I actually had an idea for a short story (Spelljammer, not PS) where the plot revolved around a character with a malignant brain tumor. There was a shortage of healers around who could fix something that severe, except for one guy. The problem is... that guy's a mind flayer.

Yea, I changed my mind a bit back there, on Daraz's injury.
Nice plot point tho, Ya'shenn recruited a powerful ally. By managing to kill the illithid with the Firebringer's sword, and subsequently not losing her lunch in front of him, she managed to convince him she's tougher than she actually is. Note also, every soldier has his/her role. The role of a psion, especially a telepath, is often to coordinate the battle. Successfully calling in reinforcements is in its own way just as important as striking killing blows yourself. Thus he considered the burned-to-death illithid as Ya'shenn's kill, not his own.
I mention stuff like this because the plot will hinge on the finer points of honor in the near future.
To Azriael:  can't resist a little foreshadowing. You think Ar'dru's got beef with Lahar now? Just wait 'till they meet (heh heh).
Nice plot point tho, Ya'shenn recruited a powerful ally.
Ya'shenn has The Queen's Firebringer as an ally? Ahahahaha hahaha [sounds eerily reminiscent of Evil DM laughter].
Well, there has to be some benefit to having a ludicrously high Charisma score.
While true, a little lightning to back up Ya'shenn's thunder would sure be nice. Not a lot, just a little...

Now, had this not been a roleplaying game, I would have suggested we use the influence we have gained to muster troops and powerful allies for the impending raid - Obsidian Orb, Lahar, Gy-Nath, etc. More could probably be summoned by employing our reputation as slayers of Sight.
But where would be the fun in having NPCs fight our battles?
After Illithid House, I suppose, we could summon our allied NPCs and go after the planet of Falx, or something...

To take 20 on a knowledge check requires research, which means you'd have to take the array. It weighs about 200 pounds. Du'minh and Vivec can handle it, while Ya'shenn helps Daraz.
*Adding a few lines to In-C post ...*
OK, first: Results for the dorjes/crystals in the satchel?
