Note to self: Keep the party's projective telepath *AWAY* from spooky stone designed to be used against a ulitharid.

Seems like Ben last posted the 21st of Oct, so 10 days ago. Hope he’s ok.

Sadly, she doesn't have it, since I only got LoM recently. Sticking out tongue
I’m not experienced with psionics, but I skimmed through the Expanded Psionics Handbook and found another option: Psychic Reformation, a 4th level telepath power that allows the subject to change a feat, among other things. Perhaps our PCs should change one of their feats to Quick Recovery? Du’minh already has a gem that mimics that effect somewhat, but it might be prudent to further increase the odds. If Ya’shenn doesn’t know the Psychic Reformation power, I think we can buy power stones with it (the psionic equivalent of scrolls if I’ve understood correctly).

In the Githyanki entry in the Psionics Handbook, it's not mentioned. Probably an oversight on the part of Bruce Cordell.

Darkvision is also listed in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. However, it seems to me that the XPH’s rendition of githyanki is crap, and contradicts the Monster Manual, Planescape Campaign Setting, and other sources on numerous counts:
It says githyankis are devoted slavetakers, that they are disloyal, that their language is identical to that of the githzerais, that very few are Lawful aligned, and their suggested names sound nothing at all like those from other sources.
I suspect Cordell simply didn’t do his homework well enough when it came to this classic psi-race, and perhaps just figured they were evil and attributed random evil traits to them.

Hmm, I've been using the 3.0 Psionics Handbook this entire time. Though, if what I've heard of the XPH is true, Ya'shenn would lose half her class skills, not to mention that her base attributes might change (since a 3.0 telepath is heavily Charisma-based). I'm picky about class skills, and I'm not sure if a 3.5 psion can have Sense Motive, Diplomacy, etc. as class skills.

Most of the awesomeness about githyanki, in my opinion, is that while they're highly evil... they are NOT the boring, cliche kind of evil. If you go by the 2e Guide to the Astral Plane, githyanki have actually done a better job of managing their society, in some ways, than most humans (no hereditary social classes, equality of opportunity for all, etc.).

Githyanki are evil because of their extreme xenophobia and violence toward other races... not their own. (In a period of anarchy like the Git'riban setting, I can see such violence becoming more common, but it's coming from a cultural context that finds that sort of thing abhorrent.)

I think there's a school of thought that thinks that every evil character has to resemble Lolth-worshipping drow, which simply isn't the case. Laughing out loud

True, true.

Anyway, about that Psychic Reformation power, what do you think?
Dunno if its in the 3.0 Psionics Handbook, but it can be found in the SRD right here.

Thanks for the info. That is a useful power, though with power stones it's 700g a shot.

Perhaps we'd have enough cash for doing so after dropping the 3 spies. I'd be pretty willing to trade Du'imnh's Improved Initiative for Quick Recovery.

As to where the party should meet next time, I wouldn't mind doing so at Du'minh's home. However, for the sake of letting everybody have the option of introducing their kip, I'd suggest another character making this offer in-game.

Hmm... I don't think Ya'shenn would invite the group over to her place just yet. We could try Ar'dru... and I'm not sure if Daraz and 'Vivec' even have kips in Git'riban.

Doh!

Seriously though, if no one else wants I’ll make the offer in-game, just thought it could be fun to explore another PC’s home since Du’minh has already had that moment in the game.

I figure likely options would be Ar’dru and Gy-Nath, since the ‘zerais wouldn’t want to attract attention, the telepath is a bit new, and the warmage player is MIA.

Yea, I'm worried about Ben. If he doesn't show soon, I'll put Jhank'kor on hiatus. So, Why don't we go to Gy's. Basicly, he's not goint to come on the raid, because he'll be watching after Jhank'kor, though he may be vague on the reasons he and the warlock are suddenly attached at the hip.

My guess is that, out of the entire group, Gy believes that Du'minh and OO are the most likely to be able to take out one of these guys solo. In Ya'shenn's case, she's running low on power points, so I'm not surprised she was put in the largest group.

Edit: Just clarifying that a mindlink normally works like this:
Establish mindlink with X number of beings in range
It lasts for (at Ya'shenn's level) 80 minutes, and after being established works at any range.

In other words, there's no delay between establishment and duration; it works for 80 minutes, then stops. I'm almost certain Gy would know this. Though if Azure wants the ability to work differently for the sake of the story, that works for me, too.

Oh yeah, had forgotten a bit that Ya'shenn was low on psi. I just figured off-hand that Du'minh should be slightly suspicious about the uneven division, as befits his nature.
OO has the backing power of an entire Athasian gith tribe after all (not that she needs it), and it could be that Gy had other reasons for isolating the Rish from the rest of the gang. Sorry, didn't intend to sound all conspiracy-theorist. Sticking out tongue

I'm not worried, though: Du'minh may lack the stealth of the other team, but he should still be able to get the drop on his mark through Dimension Door in a pinch.

Yea, well, BoG'r is a bit more 'adult' of a campaign. First of all, how can I do the brain-eaters any justice without being disturbing, unsettling, gory (from time to tome), and generally giving the players the heebie-jeebies to the best of my abilities? Combat should be brutal and well described (I still love re-reading the part about the life-draining bone clan gith who met his end via; shot, chopped, caught on fire, thrown off a bulding into a pile of razorvine, burned worse ...

The Rrakkma project boards might be a better place to open a discussion of githyanki sexuality. Still, the way their society shapes up (in my mind at least), sex and the body (and mind) in general lack the hang-ups we have in our modern western society. They are more akin to the ancient greek and japaneese feudal ideals of sexuality. Martial comradery giving rise to sexual mores that encourage homosexuality. Of course, in githyanki society, the women fight beside the men. Additionally, when sex results in pregnancy, their eggs are taken away and raised communally.

I'll let you start that thread. Eye-wink

Agreed. I figure their taboos would be githzerai (obviously) and to a lesser extent barbarians, but really not all that much else. I would say, though, that 'love' is expected to be less important than one's duties to the People and the state. Not only did Telas-Niah take a githzerai lover (!!!), she walked away from the People for the sake of that affection (which might be viewed by some as selfish or perverse). Some githyanki probably do all sorts of crazy things for the sake of love, but they're not supposed to.

I've been wondering how the whole egg thing is handled in a place like Git'riban. Some githyanki would still have friends in the Astral cities, but that wouldn't be true for all of them. On the other hand, even most renegade githyanki would probably consider it barbaric to have only one or two people raise a hatchling (only animals and barbarians do that!). Then, with so many competing factions, there'd be a question of what hatchlings ought to be taught. Maybe the largest major factions are maintaining their own egg clutches. (Actually, that's probably the single best way to figure out how badly githyanki society is divided along political lines -- where the eggs end up.)
