Not sure if this the right section for this thread but I recently found out about Beyond Countless Doorways being a collaboration from a bunch of the old Planescape writers. Now I know it isn't Planescape but I'm wondering what the opinion on the book is around here? Is it worth me searching around online for a copy of it? Best parts/Worst parts? Any info would be good
Beyond Countless Doorways?
I have found it indispensible! I have human member of the Sons of Mercy amongst our players who originally hails from Carrigmoor (one of the BCD planes I use as a Crystal Sphere on the Prime). I've apportioned all of the presented planes into demiplanes, crystal spheres, and realms in already established planes. Especially if you have a very PS savvy gaming group this is a fantastic way to throw some curves at them.

I'm curious - would you guys find it useful for me to set up a reviews section on the site for reviewing planar goodies with an actual voting api to give it a rank?
Actually yes! have a review I'm finishing up on Noble Wild (up for an ENnie with good reason) writing from the standpoint of doing a Beastlands campaign or segment using the NOble Animals. The deeds system is really sweet!
Having a destination point for this stuff would encourage me to do more...

1) I love BCD too. While some of the planes detailed are so-so, others are outstanding, and I have used the seeds several times. All in all, well worth picking up.
2) A reviews section would be cool.
Ok - I've got the basics in. I'm going to test with a non-admin account to be sure that we're able to see it all. Anyone have a better name for the section than "Reviews" (ditto for ideas for an Interview section)
It's under the Bonus Material right now.
(And That is why I switched to this system. Speedy updates like that.)
edit: Alright - Go! It's open now.
I have my copy and I can tell you it is worth its weight in gold.
The firstly book firstly offers "different" cosmology: it is mish mash jumble of warious planes that connect to other set of planes, with hellish, angelic, alien, elemental and "pimes" all in between.
Also it offers somehow simplified version of Sigil called Nexus (basicly imagine long labirinthe coridor with lots of portals).
But the real gems are planes described there: they are all writen in as modular planes that can fit in any planehopping campain with little tweaking.
And in all there are 27 or so new plane entrys (including rules for alternative and parralel worlds, you know where "good is evil"), each compleate with descriptions, hystories, locations, maps, NPC, new monsters and templates, special conditions, plot hooks, adventure seeds, new spells and items.
All in all it is the greatest gift you can give to your PS DM. Especialy in situations when PC say: "lets go somewhere different".
About weak points: well the cosmology they present and Nexus is rather meh, and some planes are less interesting than other, all in all ihis book is burstin with ideas and is exelent tool/toy box for any DM who want to take their party to the planes for first time.
P.S. One of the many gems of that book is "Planar seeds", in each chapter they describe featured plane neighbouring planes in few lines that can be fleshed out for new adventures.
Also artwork is excelent, but the book is black/white, but that is OK with me.
