Artist needs some feedback...

I'm seriously thinking of submitting my stuff to Wizards to be considered for publication. I'm working on formatting my Portfolio to include some images based on the Planescape Campaign, and would like the (honest) feedback of die-hard PS fans like those of the Planewalker.

I currently have one image of a Rogue Modron leaving Mechanus, and am currently working on Her Serenity.

Could you please tell me how to correctly post a large Jpeg file onto this site for mass inspection?

Muchas Gracias.

On posting images:

First, you have to get your image hosted somewhere. Planewalker doesn't have an "Upload" function, so the image needs to be placed somewhere else on the internet. Photobucket.com has a good setup that used to be free, they may still be giving out free space, check it out.

The next part is easy, just link it.

Well, technically if you submit it to Artist's Alley you can upload it here and have it shown on the webpage - but if it's as big as you're likely to be putting it up it'll probably far exceed our online viewing requirements for size. (We like to have pictures people can See without having to scroll all over creation.)

Size Requirements

What are the size requirements (memory and dimensions) you would suggest for optimum placement?

Size wise - I'd suggest that it be sized enough to be seen on a 1280x 1028 screen at least (maybe a little smaller to allow for space for the webpage to show). That'll cut down the memory size considerably as well - but for further trimming consider that on the screen you don't need the 300 - 400 dpi that you would need for a book, so you can scan something in at a resolution that's easier on the memory as well. And of course jpg and gif is smaller than bmp.

This will be interesting to see. Everyone who ever attempts a drawing of the Lady always has a slightly differing interpretation on many of her core features. I'm eager to see what you've done.

As long as it doesn't look like the picture of her on the cover of In the Cage... that was just plain weird, and not very Serene looking.

Inspiration and views...

I try not to go off of others work when working on my own images. I am a big fan of both DiTerlizzi and Post, but would not dream to try to steal their style or compositional elements.

One of my fellow PS'ers from my gaming group commented about how he thought my Rogue Modron appeared more "built" than others he's seen in publications. (It's outfitted with Modron Armor and is definetly a Fighter class.)

As for her serenity, well, I don't know how she'll turn out now, I just know she'll be floating over the Lady's Ward on a clear night...

Come on and post those pictures. Now you've got me all excited. I mean... um... Cadence! I'm calm. I'll wait for the pictures. All in good time.

It's The Lady's Ward, not the Lower Ward...

And every once in awhile, the portals to Air clean out the city... I just didn't want to have a terribly obscured background.

Heh, I asked the question because nearly all aspects of Sigil in description talk about it's foul air.

Just so long as there's some murkiness and obscurement... I'll be happy Cool.

Apologies...

Sorry for the delay, folks, but I'm having a hell of a time trying to photograph the modron piece (Colored pencil=shiny and it's too big for a conventional scanner). Thanks for your patience in this.

A question: When I get the piece scanned/digiphotoed, would it be easiest if I sent it to a site administrator, or try to upload the friggin' thing myself? (From the looks of the boards, you guys have enough on your plate, but I was just wondering).

I think uploading should work fine - that way nothing will get lost and you'll be able to track it as it goes through the system. You know what we need to make something pleasant to view on the webpage - so you'd just sign in there, and submit it to Artist's Alley if you want the webpage to display it. Or link to it from another webspace you've uploaded it to if you'd rather have your own host. Smiling

More chicken scratch on the way...

A very disturbing kid I happened to run into on the street made me want to finish "Child of Pandesmos" ASAP.

I still have quite a bit before I finish "Her Serenity", oil takes a freaking long time to dry... Also, no more colored pencil after how Shallas turned out.

I've already started the inks on a new one. Any guesses to the subject?

I'll give you a hint: She's a fan favorite.

Shemeska?

Actually, while your work is very good, this thread should probably be moved to Creative Contributions.

So solly, cholly.

When I first came on, I didn't know what was up with these forums. Is there any way to transfer this to another forum?

An admin or mod (like me) can move it. Eye-wink
I've been debating if this should go here or there - but it's more related to the creative end of things now instead of techie issues of uploading - so I'll move it.

All your Artist Alley is belong to us.

Her Serenity is done, although with the colored pencils, I question the way it will appear online *crosses fingers*.

Oh, and the Marauder's Retinue is inked, but not colored. (Excellent guess, Narfi.) Expect that in a week, maybe more.

I have a prelim sketch for an archerai and it's rust dragon companion, as well as the hottest Xaositect bards to squirm out of xaOs, Zif and the Howlerz... (Also known as Wugga-Wugga, the Zangdoodles, QQQQ, Sune's Armpit Hair, and Pitch Grey.) I may actually write up some stats for the little turd NPCs and submit them, if I can put down my pencil long enough.

That, and it's finals week, so grading's a beeotch.

Busy, busy, busy.

Wooot! I love rust dragons; the bestest dragons of all. Especially against PCs with a lot of magical armour and weapons.

Looking forward to it.
