Hi there people, my friend & I are interested in purchasing copies of 2nd edition planescape modules/boxsets etc & we have been informed that they have been discontinued, but there must be copies out there somewhere that we can acquire, so my main question is does any one have an idea of where we could purchase these items?
Acquiring copies of 2nd edition planescape/boxsets
Most of the books can be found regularly on Ebay. Of them, you'll end up paying 2-3 times cover price for Hellbound and Planes of Conflict. The other books and box sets won't be too bad.
Does this imply that there's another (reliable) place to purchase box sets of Hellbound and PoC?
at gencon ive seen several of the planescape books and sets for fairly descent prices.
If you put posts on Wizards borads you can sometimes pick them up. I grabbed Planes of Chaos, Law, Conflict and Hellbound: the Blood war for $20 each plus $20 shipping (I got such a deal I gave him a tad extra on shipping.)
$100 for the 4 big boxed sets (not counting the main one) was an awesome deal and it certainly can happen.
I'm glad I bought mine before they discontinued 'em. All save for the Planes of Neutrality...don't have that one yet.
They actually renamed it the Planes of Conflict and sadly it is one of the two most expensive items you will find (at least by Ebay standards) of the 30 books in the set. (There is actually a sketchbook that is much more exensive I hear but I have never seen it for sale anywhere....)
That's 'cause it was only sold at Dana Knutson's table at Gen Con one year. Like the Eberron sketchbook an artist was selling at Gen Con this year. Hm - that would have been a good investment, come to think of it.
Hi everyone,
For those of you that are interested, I am selling off ALL my planescape stuff due to unforseen circumstances and will take most good offers. I would put the stuff on ebay, but I have been burnt a few times and dont really trust it. If anyone is interested please let me know either on the board or via my email which is [REDACTED].
Most of the stuff is virtually unused but does have shelf ware (the boxes are not in the best of shape, but the books inside are).
Let me know.
Thanks
Lots of books i've seen had some very nice maps. I know that mapping the planes is like fingerpainting the river, but still, it would be cool if there was some sort of a planar atlas
Well, I'm interested in some books, Kahe. I just emailed you.
Watashi, there are some illustrations of planar arrangements on mimir.net, and we're working on the travelogue for planewalker.com, but mapping infinite planes is just not going to work. I think it would take a lot of wonder out of the whole arrangement too.
Walking the planes is more about belief, effort to reach your destination, and a few landmarks like the Caverns of Thought, than about walking down a road and then turning left. Also, the prevalence of portals and the shifting of realms and even entire layers very quickly makes maps obsolete.
Then again, the "relational maps" found in the Manual of the Planes did a good job of conveying the relative positions of realms and layers to each other. If you don't have that book then check it out.
And just try to map Limbo!
Well... There was a map of that unchangeable part of limbo in the DM's planes of chaos
Maps in manual of the planes? Oh yes, those little things i need to watch with a microscope . Just kidding, there was a nice big map of baator, which i photocopied and stuck on my wall on the lower-left side of the outlands map i printed from player's planar handbook
I've heard Ebay is your best bet for finding physical copies, although that can turn out expensive. You could also try scouring local gaming stores. However, if the physical book isn't as important to you as the planar goodness within, www.svgames.com and I believe another one or two sites sells the .pdfs (legally) for $5 each.
