3.5 Adventure Conversions

Hey everybody. Recently I've been trying to convert a few of the 2nd ed Planescape adventures to 3.5, and since they've been recieved pretty well so far, I think I'm going to update everything I can get my hands on. Just wanted to know which adventures people would be interested in seeing done first. I've already done Harbinger House, and Fires of Dis is in the submission process. Here's the list of other stuff I have access to (Completed projects in italics):

The Eternal Boundary
The Deva Spark
Harbinger House
Something Wild
Doors to the Unknown
Fires of Dis
In the Abyss
The Great Modron March
Dead Gods
Well of Worlds
Tales from the Infinite Staircase
The three adventures from Hellbound

I'll probably do all of them eventually, but I wanted to see what would be most popular.

See you all in Sigil

I'd vote for the Deva Spark, since I'm hoping to run that with my own group. The Eternal Boundary might make for a nice conversion to draw in players who are new to Planescape. I ran Dead Gods in 3.5 a while back and could give some input on where I got stats from and how I changed things.

Unfortunately, I've not gotten to read enough of the older modules to know which ones I'd like to see converted. I've *got* Well of Worlds and hellbound though - so I'd be fond of those since I could use em. Eye-wink

Personally I have an affection for Eternal Boundary - its a wonderful Planescapey plot and was used to introduce me and my group to the setting (unfortunately for those very reasons I have very little memory of what went on at all - except that it was emjoyable and quite a change from the norm).

Deva Spark was also great, and made me feel like we were doing big league stuff in the Planes!

Rhys: Due to its length, Dead Gods will probably be one of the last modules I get around to converting, but when I do I'll make sure to ask for some help. Goodness knows I'll need it with that 170-ish page monster

I'd go with The Eternal Boundry as well. It has a nice planescapey feel to it and can easily be run in a post faction wars setting. The same goes for The Deva Spark

Definitly "The Eternal Boundary". I'm gonna run that after "Desire and the Dead" and any help in converting it would be appreciated.

Ok, looks like there's a lot of support for The Eternal Boundary and The Deva Spark, so they're next for the chopping block. Luckily I've DMed both of those in 3.5 already, so it should be pretty easy. I'll start on TEB after the weekend and hopefully have it in for submission by the next week. By then Fires of Dis should be on the site, and I'd love any feedback I can get on it for future reference.
Thanks again, cutters

Ok, I'm just going to use this thread to keep track of what I've done for a while. I submitted The Eternal Boundary today, and will start work on The Deva Spark soon. Oh, and I added Doors to the Unknown to the list of available modules.
Back to the grindstone. . .

I probably shouldn't even vote, because my gaming group is still using 2nd ed for all our planescapy goodness in the first place. But if I knew that somebody else had already converted DG and TftIS I could probably be convinced to look into getting some 3.5 source material.

I just have so MUCH 2nd ed stuff...sometimes it's just easier to live in the past...Eye-wink

I'll be working up to the adventures in Hellbound over the next few months. I'll share what I put together and would appreciate seeing any work in progress on those plotlines.

Thanks!

Hey, the more the merrier. I've actually hit a block in my translating since a 'friend' of mine has absconded with several of my 3.5ed books and one or two of my planescape ones and moved to Virginia. The manhunt is underway, but there's a finished conversion for I think The Eternal Boundary sitting around in the submission process, somewhere

I'm getting myself back together here after reconstruction on my computer over the last week or so - so I'll go hunt down that conversion in the submissions. I'm sure there's plenty of those hanging around at this point.

I'm anxious to see the Eternal Boundary conversion since it's the adventure I'm currently running for my group. Laughing out loud

Well you're in luck, because I just got a message saying that my Eternal Boundary conversion should be on the site starting on the 25th Laughing out loud Maybe that'll motivate me to get off my butt and do what I can on the next one. . .

Hymneth, I just wanted to thank you for the great work. I've recently started a game with players new to the setting, and was planning on taking them through the Eternal Boundary. This is exactly what I was looking for!

Just wanted to echo Alitis' post, thanks Hymeth for the great work on your conversions. I was only expecting to see the NPCs' stats but your added notes on skill check DCs and insightful observations and suggestions really make this an outstanding game-aid.

I just printed out your nicely formatted text for both the Eternal Boundary and Harbinger House. You saved me a great deal of time, work and head scratching. Kudos to you my friend! Laughing out loud

And also thanks to Clueless for making them available. Smiling

Aw, shucks

Thanks for the support, though. Maybe I'll be able to finish up Deva Spark sometime after the holiday (I managed to steal back those books when I went to visit this weekend).

And as ya said, thanks Clueless. These things wouldn't do anyone much good if I didn't have somewhere to put em Laughing out loud

I did a fairly completee 3.0 conversion of Dead Gods quite a while ago but never got to run it unfortunately, if anyone's interested in seeing that. I might convert it to 3.5 for a possible PS campaign my players are bugging me to run. I think it might make a good tie in for running the new Expedition to the Demonweb Pits adventure from WotC.

My votes for converted modules would go for the Great Modron March and Hellbound. I ran the first two adventures of Hellbound, so I know they can be fun adventures. Well of Worlds has a lot of good ideas too. I ran a version of the trip to Plague Mort mixed with the scene in Curst from Planescape Torment and it made for an enjoyable adventure.

I've started picking away at the Great Modron March -- at the moment I'm just doing a very trimmed down runthrough of each chapter.

Personally, I'm interested in Doors to the Unknown, The Great Modron March, and Dead Gods as those are the ones I'm going to run a group through.

Yeah, those are all good ones, but pretty in depth. I'm almost afraid to start on them. In other news, The Deva Spark is about 90% done. I just need to get off my butt and polish it off for submission.

Also, I just got accepted to Pharmacy School, so I may wind up stopping my project here if it turns out I don't have the time for it anymore. Hopefully I'll be able to keep going, but there's a heck of a lot of paperwork right now, at least. . .

Ok, The Deva Spark is now submitted. I think I'm going to start work on either Squaring the Circle from Hellbound or, I don't know, maybe Something Wild. Don't have as much free time for working on things recently as I used to, so it may be a while till the next one. I'll keep chugging along anyway, though. . .

Ugh

I chugged through converting The Eternal Boundary using the wizards 2e to 3e conversion guide before I finally found your conversion. I like it but I was wondering why you nerfed Imogen?

What was she originally? I don't have my materials on hand right now. I think I used that same conversion guide. One level for every level of the highest class, then one level for every 3 levels of any additional classes, minimum one, divided any way? If I messed it up, please tell me. I try to make these as usable as possible

Oh, and welcome to the Planes! More the merrier

Imogen is a Level 5 Fighter/Level 5 Wizard. I'm sorry, I must have glossed over the section on multiclass 2e chars. You are correct.

I was using PCgen to speed the conversion and simply did a direct translation which made Imogen way overpowered.

What adventure(s) are you working on converting? I'm more than willing to help with NPC conversions to speed things along. I was thinking about tackling Dead Gods because I want to run it for my group. If you are currently working on a different one just inform me of the NPC's left to convert and we can avoid duplicating effort.

Actually I've pretty much fallen off the project for now. Pharmacy school is in full swing, and I don't really have the time for large works like that. If you feel up to it, though, go ahead and make your own conversions. They'll be welcomed

I'll sure try Smiling I'm a full time college student so progress will be slow. (Though not as hard as Pharmacy school I'm sure.)

I'm going to start running the Great Modron March in a few weeks on the WotC boards, so I'll submit the conversion of each module as I get them done.

Appreciated. I sorta fell off the wagon with this project due to real life concerns, so any help from any quarter is always good. I look forward to reading them

Re: 3.5 Adventure Conversions

Other than Deva Spark, did any of these get uploaded? I'd love to see them all, but Fires of Dis was the next module that I wanted to run.
