1001 Urban Planescape Advanture Seeds

I feel that its about time we started to see what we want to run with UPS. There have been loads of advanture seeds/ideas within a lot of the threads in the project and i think it would be great from a design prepsecific to see what Gms and players alike imgaine themselves doing in UPS. Also, I hope that this will encourage people that dont know a lot about UPS to post and get involved, as you dont need to know the project forums inside out to come up with great advanture ideas!

As per usual with these types of threads, try to number your adventure suggestion within the thread (I'm gonna make 1 suggestion, so that idea no 1, next person to post would start with no 2 etc etc), have fun and enjoy!

And so the, a start is needed....

1) Locomtives throughout the outer planes are suffering from mid portal de-railments, causing massive damage and loss of life and goods!

#2. Abyssal/Celestial guerrillas are making attacks on their respective foes out lying settlements; especially those bearing some resources of value. These attacks are being treated as a terrorist threat and special agencys have been assembled to locate and destroy these cells.

#3. The Party requiers a certain bit of knowledge, long lost to the modern world. This requires location and conversation with one or more of the following:
-Tihamut or Garrix (head guard); requiring a trip to the Iron Grasp on Hades' 2nd layer
-Bontko'tsu; requiring a trip to The Courtyard on Pandemonium's 1st layer
-The Mind Flayers of Thoon; requiring a mission to one of thier many Facilities located throughout the Lower Planes
-Fell; requiring location of the fallen Dabus, tales saying he was finally forgiven by Her Serenity, but is still stalking meagerly throughout the Hive on a mission unknown (clues may be found at Fell's tattoo shop)
-A petitioner in Solitary; requiring a trip through all 3(or 4?) layers of Pandemonium and location of said maddened soul (not to mention entering of the cell and avoidance of madness affliction along the way)
-The Ring Master (LE gnome spellthiefd4/beguiler4); who appears to be the commanding force within the gatetown known as the Maddening Carnival.
...feel free to continue this list under the heading of #3

#4. A certain soult hat was lost to the Underworld on Hades still owes quite a large debt to a fiendish loan-shark within Sigil; and the party has been tasked with recovering them- whether by finding a portal to the Wastes' Bank or delving through the Radioactive Wastes' upper layers.

#5. The massive metropolis that serves as the 3rd layer of Hades contains any number of ancient magical and techonological trinkets, which requires delving into the Radioactive ruins of the once bustling city.

#6. A drider organization seeks possession of the guarded knowledge surrounding the drow's technology, particularly their weapon systems. They are paying well; but have been heavily outbid by a contingent within the Yugoloth society- a savy adventuring party would kill birds with one stone; if they play their cards right.

#7. The party has been conscribed into service as mercenarys in the Blood War- outfitted with the lastest in Baatorian/Abyssal battle technology, they are sent into battle against the opposing forces of the Blood War... though, many a group in this position have learned to play the fences; fighting for the side that appears to have the best chance of winning.

#8. The son of a powerful dignitary made a great folley- thinking themselves more than able, they attempted to enter Pandemonium in an attempt to kidnap one of the Orderlys. The resulting battle left the dinitary's offspring in a catatonic (or worse) state of mental sickness; and the party has been consribed to locate and destroy the offending Cleaner.

#9. The Waveriders (wererat hordes of Erebus' sewers) have been producing all manner of heinous drugs and have been selling them throughout the Outer Planes. The party has been conscribed to locate and apprehend the Waverider's leader (rewards are significantly better if the leader is captured alive) for questioning.

#10. The party has been drawn to the Academy in the Sandstone District of Sigil; where they are undertaking the investigation of the Academy's current state. Their benefactors could include the City Guard (seeking information regarding the destruction of their Mechielodons- see Challenge 1 post), or The Sigilian Electric Consortium (who claim thier network has been illegally tapped into somewhere within the Academy).

#11. The construction of a space bridge (originating in Waterdeep and spanning into the atmosphere) is nearly complete; but recent attacks by Thoonian Mind Flayer ships in orbit have delayed construction. The players have been consribed to board said ships and destroy them from the inside (its believed at least one of said ships contains a Thoonian Gate to the Far-Realm; so great care must be taken that said Gate is closed/disabled before the ships are destroyed).

#12. A planar anomaly results in a 1-way portal opening to an Alternate Material Prime; in which the wild-magic surge resulted not in technological improvement, but in the merging of magic and alchemy into a completely new discipline more powerful than either seperately.

something I remember from old TV shows... this is pretty much how I start my adventures, by the way...:

#13. A kiddie snack company is marketing a new brand of biscuits shaped like various planar denizens. Lately, humanoid-shaped biscuits start appearing in every pack.

#14. Young people are getting into a music fad called "Aberration Rock", which celebrates the lifestyle of Aberration-type creatures. This disturbs a lot of the old folks.

#15. Somebody from the Clerks' Ward decides to wage a "War On Myconid Spores" which are the rage amongst the hip crowd these days.

#16. A minor Tanar'ri becomes an overnight stand-up comedy sensation and becomes quite popular. So popular that the networks are starting their own little "Blood War" over who gets to keep exclusive rights over the berk.

#17. A serial killer is on the loose, known only as the "Class-Alignment Killer", he tends to hunt down attractive humanoid females of particular alignments and character classes, forming a pattern of sorts, around the more urban areas of Sigil.

#18. A bunch of Athar and Anarchists have been found brutally murdered lately. They are somehow connected to a mysterious painting of a smiling Aasimar woman by an ancient genius artist from the Time of Troubles.

#19. Customers of AstralCard, a credit card company began disappearing.

20. Company X has established a logging outpost in Shendaklah. They have recently lost contact with the outpost and the portal they had connecting their outpost with their factories has stopped working. Company X hires your party to travel there and find out what happened. (mid-level campaign)

21. (more of a future/apocalypse idea) You wake up in a bomb-shelter on the Prime Material Plane after your world has been destroyed by nuclear war. The water purification system needs to be repaired. The problem is - the purification system was made with parts manufactured on Mechanus. You must venture out into the wasteland above, travel to what remains of Mechanus, and retrieve - a WATER CHIP. (yeah so I played a lot of Fallout so sue me.)

Heh. It might have been. It was the item you set out to find in the game Fallout.

22. The ongoing battle between the fiends and the Eladrin on Androlynne has attracted the attention of your employer - an Ultraloth arms dealer looking to profit from the conflict.

23. A Lilitu has risen to power on one of the prime worlds, posing as a human politician from a nation with nuclear technology. She seeks to ignite a worldwide nuclear war so that her fiendish masters can use the influx of souls as a power source.

24. (Sort of related to #23) The war has begun, but a planes-savvy cleric from that prime world has discovered a portal to Sigil that he intends to use to save as many people as possible. Clueless refugees from the Prime World begin pouring through the portal, many thousands a day.

25. A terrorist group has planted a viral worm into the digital computing portion of Mechanus. One side-effect to this highly potent computer virus is that the Inevitables have begun destroying everything that moves, much like a body's immune system during an allergic reaction and making it very difficult for the remaining Modrons to disinfect the system without some outside help.

26. Someone has discovered a rare type of crystal in the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Mineral, found only on a strange plateau with the ruins of a former city there. One man made it back with a piece of the crystal, but others in his expedition died or wandered off and were never heard from again.

27. A new movement becomes

27. A new movement becomes more popular among Sigilian youth. Its followers are unhappy about state of the Multiverse. They claim that consumer society becomes more spiritually dead with each passing day and causes the Outer Planes to wither. First protests begin shortly after. Most people suspect Anarchists' involvment.

28. Two celestial TV stations have always competed against each other. A scandal involving anchors of both begins an open war between them. It starts as a campaign of mutual accusations, but each side becomes more willing to employ various dirty tricks to humiliate each other.

29. Tabloids reveal identity of a famous philantropist. It does cause some concerns, given the fact he is a yugoloth. No one seem to know what to think about it, and the 'loths refuse to give any comments.
