The stinging sands of Minethys, the third Layer of Carceri, are the site of perpetual trench warfare between the Baatezu and Tanar'ri. It's miserable work; baatezu are sent here as punishment.
It's also seemingly futile. After eons and eons, the trenches have hardly moved at all.
