On the Ethereal Plane, sometimes fantasies from the Region of Dreams or illusion spells can accumulate enough possibility to become real, or anyway realer. Perhaps the peculiar form of planetouched known as shyfts are descended from doomed romances between humans and solid dreams.
Shyfts resemble normal humans, forgettable and inconspicuous in every sense of the words. They are excellent spies, thieves, and assassins, as they have the ability to cross between the Border Ethereal and the planes it touches once a day.
