The Dragon King of the Sea is a manlike creature associated with the Japanese Pantheon. He wears a crown in the shape of a serpent. He has the appearance of an old man with long whiskers. His palace is at the bottom of the sea. He is known to have rewarded mortals that have done him a service with supernatural gifts, such as a bag of rice which replenishes whatever is taken from it.
The goddess Benzaiten of the Shichifukujin is his daughter.
