In the Beastlands, one may hear laughing voices in the clouds, and see glimpses of joyous faces. These are the mortai (MOR-tie), masters of the upper air. Whether they are celestials, Petitioners, hazy dreams emerging into reality, gods, elementals, nature spirits, or something else entirely is not entirely clear, possibly not even to them.
