Mimir

Mimir is a Norse mountain giant and a member of the Fated faction. When the Aesir and Vanir traded hostages, Mimir and Odin's brother Hoenir went to dwell with the Vanir, while Njord, Frey, and Freya went to live with the Aesir.

When the Vanir discovered that Hoenir's supposed wisdom was really coming from Mimir, they beheaded Mimir and sent him back. Even dead, however, he still gives exellent advice, for Odin cast many spells to bring him back to life. His wisdom was so admired that the magical item mimirs were named after him.

Mimir appears as the head of an aged giant with a flowing white beard. He is supported by levitation, and drifts slowly about as he wills.

Mimir dwells on the edge of Jotunheim, at the tip of a root of Yggdrasil. There bubbles the Well of Wisdom, where Mimir drinks daily. Odin also drinks from the well; he paid Mimir for the privilege with one of his eyes.
