Elans are a psionic-enhanced race of former humans. Through a strange ritual of the mind, humans are selected to enter this race and become aberrations for the rest of their lives. They are a race strong in Psionics. The have incredible lifespans and can probably make themselves immortal if they are apt and skilled in the ways of the mind.
