Kernobyr, The Poisoner

Kestral's picture

Kernobyr is master of all that destroys in great numbers; a god of pestilence and plagues, of war, and poison... a god that only seems to revel in sapping the strength of others. His strength is truly others' weakness. Tales of his followers pop up wherever a great number of lives are lost, and wherever there is someone plotting to weaken another.

His incarnations are few and far between, typically only seen in times of great loss of life. Mass plagues, genocides, and wars that destroy large populaces are commonly attributed to his influence, especially if they are done in a fashion that slowly forces mortals to succumb. The realm appears to be a blasted waste of an area, as could be found after a nuclear explosion, or similarly destructive event. Obsidian sand and shards make up the ground of the area, with craters and pockmarks being commonplace. While the Gray Waste sickens and harms creatures as a whole, Helmedius does so faster, (the entrapping quality of the Waste works twice as fast) as a result of the poisons, diseases, and radiation that make up this area. Followers are usually immune to this effect, and are simply only limited to the normal effects of the Gray Waste as a whole, but if they displease Kernobyr, they may experience the sickening effect more strongly and quickly, as if he were simply delaying the poison that seeps through the whole of the Wastes.

Temperatures are highly variable, often being incredibly hot or cold, as if it were gripped in the throes in either a horrendous explosion, or the worst of a nuclear winter. Either way, a planewalker's skin will always feel as if it is burning, or incredibly chilly. What effect will be the case will depend on which is more uncomfortable for the planewalker. There is always a strong wind blowing, as if there were a perennial shockwave in effect, and it is usually highly acidic, or filled with diseases. The realm is in Oinos and residents are often actively engaged in the Blood War, offering weapons and other supplies useful in the cause of the wholesale slaughter of others to all comers. It has a small town, called the Bazaar by residents, and Siege's Hold by visitors, which is a focus for the dealings of worshippers providing tools of death, and is one of the rare places his followers are open in their worship.
