szass's picture

Hello Cagers !

Here are three pictures of Gatetowns never realized on Planescape’s books : Faunel, Glorium and Rigus, made by Morgege (Geneviève Morge) for the website «Le Rat Crevé» (www.ratcreve.com).

These pictures have been translated in english especially for you, cutters !
Later, we intend to draw Xaos and Curst.
You’ll be notified at this time.

The maps are awesome! Many thanks! Laughing out loud

I don't have all my books at hand at the moment; were there other maps used for these towns somewhere in the books? Because for some reason they look exactly the way I imagined them... now either the artist perfectly catches the spirit of the descriptions in the first PSCS as I imagined them, or I'm mixing something up.

Hello Calmar.
Thank you for your comment ! Smiling

No, these three gatetowns map don't appear in any Planescape's books. This is a 100% fan artwork made from the description of the PSCS and the Player's Primer to the Outlands.

Xaos and Curst, never realized so, will be made later, on the same way.

Of course, the spirit of these pictures is inspired by Rob Lazzaretti's maps, especially those on the poster map of the Player's Primer to the Outlands : same framework, same color, same building's shape...

I send a PM to Clueless to send larger files maps.
Soon...

Nice work. I'll have to check out the source text (where?) to see what the numbers stand for.

Now just remember Xaos doesn't really have a set configuration, so a map isn't going to do much good for someone in the long term, heh.

The description for Curst is reminiscent of a prison, so that kind of imagery would work well there. The concentric ring pattern of this town is a bit close to your depiction of Rigus, so be wary of overlap there.

(by the way, Clueless is a she, if I remember right)

Hello Schloss Ritter,
Thanks for your comments.

Of course, Xaos is difficult to map exactly. But we intend to draw a vision of Xaos at a particular time, for example, with a shape-morfing effect ! Laughing out loud

For Curst, we’ll do the best possible from Planescape Torment and some others diagrams, and texts we have in our possession.

Here are the keys for the maps ! (I forgot to specify them)
Some of these are official keys (*). Others are typically created by Lithoss and me.

Faunel
1) The Gate *
2) Center of Eternal Dreams *
3 - Amphitheater
4 - Nomad’s Hill
5 - Bird Cathedral
6 - Houses in the trees
7 - Wises’ Grove
8 - Joak the Sage’s tent *

Glorium
1 - Temple of Odin and the Norns *
2 - Cavern to Yggdrasil *
3 - Bariaurs clan *
4 - Market Place
5 - Freki twins workshop *
6 - Watch Tower

Rigus hasn’t keys yet.
