Trader's Portal

A small house in the Guildhall Ward contains a bedroom on the second floor. The window of this bedroom is the location of a strange permanent portal. The portal leads to a wagon owned by Mear. Mear is an Arcane who travels across the multiverse.

A permanent portal to an Arcane's kip would be of unimaginable value, but it has one small downside. It is one-way. Everyone, with exception of the Clueless, knows that an Arcane can't be found. It finds you when you need one. This is the reason that a spell cannot detect which plane the portal leads to.

When a body uses the portal, Mear welcomes them after arriving in the wagon. After a cup of tea, one can try to make a good trade with Mear. When the chatting and trading is done, you will be sent out of the Arcane's trading caravan. This leaves you on the plane Mear is currently visiting, which could be literally anywhere in the multiverse.

The key to this portal consists of items. The kind of item doesn't matter, just as long as you have it in bulk. So, one sword does nothing, but twenty of the same swords will open the portal. The good news is that the key will not disappear and can be used in trading with Mear.

When you have goods to trade and feel like you're enough of a planewalker to handle any plane, you're welcome to visit Mear's traveling kip.
