The Tonoe are a race of slave-making amazons that were banished to Acheron from an obscure prime world. They have no males in their race so they must breed with men of other societies. They populate Avalas, the first layer of Acheron.

Tonoe look like tall (6'5" ft. average), atheletic women. Most of them have brown hair, golden eyes, and tan skin, but variations are common since the Tonoe crossbreed with other races quite often. They prefer to wear plate armor in battle and simple tunics and leggings during times of peace.

The Tonoe society is matriarchy, with men captured in battles used for physical labor and breeding. Unlike most slave-making societies, however, these slaves are treated like normal humans and not property. They are given encouragement to work harder and are rewarded for good behavior. Tonoe are polygamous, with 2-4 breeders for every Tonoe. Tonoe treat their offspring quite well and frequently take in orphans of battles to make them a part of their society

Tonoe are also friendly towards visitors who show no hostile intent. Much of their money comes from slave trade, but they also farm quills for their meat and often sell it to army bases and other places that need a large amount of food.
