"A nice place. It's a little ethnic for my tastes, but whatever floats yer balloon, or your disembodied head, or what ever it is you've got."

The Cracks, known by some as Anomalous Avenue, are a part of the Lower Ward with many minor doors to one particular prime material city. The prime city has a long and rich history, and it has developed something of a symbiotic relationship with the Cracks. When the palace of the government was burnt down in a revolution, an improved version was built in the Cracks.

The Cracks is a place of anachronistic buildings that spans all the prime city's architectural eras. Faerie folk slip in and out of the portals, using the zone as an easy means of travel. An assassin's guild operates from this area, using its secretive location to its advantage. A shedu uses the Cracks as a halfway point on missions for its god. An ancient woman called Old Annie wanders the byways. She knows secrets of both cities centuries old.

Clarke's Curiosity Shoppe is a mysterious store that opens random gates into the prime city; it sells magical items, each with an odd side effect. A nabassau, frustrated in its efforts to mature, has used the Cracks as a temporary "nest." It feels pride in its cleverness in staying away from the bulk of the Prime. The Alley of Lost Souls is a net for the spirits of those who died in the city unburied. Their ghosts haunt the alley in sad, clustered ranks.
