The spike iris is a small flowering plant that grows in all areas of the Abyss that are not actively on fire. Its stalk is roughly three inches tall and the stalk is black in color. Its leaves are long and slim, just slightly too thick to be considered needles, and are blue with white veins. Its flower is white and at most one inch across on top. It strongly resembles a flattened rose. The leaves of the spike iris are seed carriers. When a living creature brushes against them the dozens of spores at the tip are injected into the skin. After roughly one week of itching the infected area begins to putrefy. If left unattended the skin in the contact spot will liquefy. This liquid contains the spores of a new plant which will begin to grow in roughly two months. Each plant lives two cycles.
