Found only near the svirfneblin burg of Brightnight on Shurrock, guardian moles are huge specimens, over twelve feet long. Related to star-nosed moles, they have several fleshy prehensile appendages that radiate outward from their noses. These appendages can be used to grasp items and grab intruders, where they can be simply immobilized or bitten by the mole.
Those trained by the deep gnomes can be commanded by thumping on the earth in a complex code that the moles can sense and understand. Some exceptionally bright individuals can also be trained to communicate extremely simple messages themselves. Guardian moles can be purchased from the svirfneblin, should the gnomes like the potential buyer.
