Arborean Magical Conditions

When traveling to other planes of existence, magic works differently. Planes tend to be characterized by different attributes, such as hopelessness, order, chaos, balance or, in the case of Arborea, passion. The planes greatly effect spells and their casting. As a student of the magical arts, you can vaguely remember a few details about the planes from your classes. Here is what you can remember about spell casting on Arborea:

Conjuration/Summoning: The spirits of nature are strong here. Attempting to summon monsters will likely call upon the nature spirits. Attempts to summon demons or devils under such conditions could be disastrous. Hint: Provide some food for the summonsed creature. More powerful creatures may need special wards to keep them in line, like a carved image.

Divination: The world seems attuned to divination, yet the magical energy is primitive, requiring elaborate rituals for even the simplest of divination spells. Hint: Try making an offering to the gods of gold, wine, gems or food. More powerful divination may require more valuable sacrifices.

Enchantment/Charm: Emotions run deep in this land, as you've realized through your own reactions to the simplest of events. Something tells you that spells attempting to effect the emotions could be enormously powerful. This might result in a backlash against the caster. Hint: Try catching the subject's attention. Tell a joke or pose a riddle. More powerful spells may require that you know the subjects name. Very powerful spells may require a sacrifice or offering to the subject.

Necromancy: In such a place where nature and the natural process plays such an important role, tampering with such powers could be dangerous. You figure most necromantic spells probably don't work at all, while those that do work may require a sacrifice to the appropriate dark god. But which god? Hint: Try sacrificing a few dark colored gems, a small goblet of tree sap, fresh blood, or even a live sacrifice.

Elemental: It's doubtful such magic works here at all. Hint: Make an offering of the opposite element. For a water spell, make a fire offering. For an air spell, make an offering of earth.
