Upon casting this spell, you can touch one destoyed (or dead) item. The item can be anything from fine to colossal size, such as a building, ancient ruins, a corpse, a torn piece of paper etc. For each round that you touch it and concentrate, you recieve the following information: 1st round: A general image of the item prior to destruction. You cannot discern any specific details, such as written text, secret doors etc. 2nd round: A general estimation of the time that has passed since the item's destruction. 3rd round: The means of the item's destruction. Thus, if a body was killed by a sword slash, you learn that, but not who wielded the sword or what the sword looked like. If a building was destroyed by a spell such as Sympathetic Vibration, you know it was by that spell, but not who cast it or how powerful he was. |
I'd put a limit on it in concern to time.
Somehow, granting a spell-caster the ability to see the original form of any ruins or corpse they come across no matter how ancient seems like an incredibly bad idea.
1 week per caster level seems fair.
