Chronomancy: the 9th school of Magic

The school of chronomancy includes any and all spells that deal with time. Included with the use of chronomancy, is the substance Chronoplasm. The semi-real substance that contains power channeled from the Temporal Energy Plane. Chronoplasm is the physical embodiment of time itself, and exists everywhere that has time (which is pretty much everywhere except the Astral, the Far Realms, and a few other locations). Chronoplasm takes the form of a light but strong translucent crystal.

A wizard who specializes in Chronomancy is referred to as Chronomancer.

So far the chronomancy spell list is as such:

0: Time Ripple, Detect Time Manipulation

1: Chronoplasmic Shell, Delay Image, Chronoplasmic Skin

2: Time Glitch, Accelerate Plant Growth, Life Sounding, Preserve

3: Chronoplasmic Bomb, Chronophase, Minor Paradox

4: Time Compression, Metabolic Acceleration, Greater Time Glitch, Wall of Chronoplasm, Temporal Disjunction, Temporal Push, Time Pinch

5: Stasis Touch, Time Scry, Chronoplasm Cannon

6: Temporal Shielding, Conceal Temporal Anomaly, Paradox, Magic Manager,

7: Ray of Rapid Ageing, Time Reversal, Delay Damage,, Sands of Time

8: Temporal Removal, Past Flash, Afterclap, Item Supercharger,

9: Time Travel, Major Paradox

Of coarse, new spells may be submitted, as such to any other school of magic. With any luck, all of these spells will be posted soon, check back often.

Why: Because having a Chronomancer NPC is a good way of never DMing your way into a corner, or allowing your players to meet the villain of your campaign and not be killed by it yet. Pro: Allows for true time travel at higher levels, or fixing mistakes in the past. And if nothing else, you can choose it as a forbidden school of magic, so you don't have to lose a school of magic you actually care about.

Con:Also: if your campaign is mainly centered around the Astral or another timeless plane, Chronomancy is a bad idea. No chronomancy spell will work on a timeless plane.

Using Chronomancy in Sigil attracts the Lady of Pain's attention. There is a 5% chance that, anytime you cast a chronomancy Spell, the Lady of Pain will block it. If this happens, the spell automatically fails, and 1 or more Dabus show up and 'yell' at you. Repeatedly attracting the Lady of Pain's attention may get you mazed.

If attempting to Time Travel in Sigil, or effect the past or future in any way, shape, or form the Lady of Pain WILL take notice and block it. No exceptions. All time travel must take place outside of Sigil.

Don't trust Chronomancy to a player that is likely to use it wrongly. A player with chronomancy, if they get creative, may find loopholes to get around your toughest challenges.

Dont worry too much about the time travel. It specically mentioned in the description for that spell that the DM may block it at any time, just by saying that the Temporal Energy Plane is out of alignment or something like that. I wouldnt want DMs to be forced into a corner by a spell they dont like.
The Time Travel spell if only for Campaigns where the DM accepts it.

BTW: untill these spells are finally posted ( I still have to submit a bunch, havnt had the time) the descriptions for all of these spells can be found in the Chronomancy Classes forum thread, in the Hall Of Records area. Just scroll down, youll find it.

You want to include the link. Eye-wink The feedback responses resemble forum threads but aren't.

even the epic book limits time to one minute ahead. the wish spell was always to be preverted if used for time stuff since the old greyhawk only days ( before 2, 3, 3e, 3.5, krynn, FR ) its to much, just stick to getting to 40th level if you need the power.
